you simply stand infront of someone as they look puzzled as to why your blocking there path. then you apologize and learn never to do that again. because you get nothing out of it.
John was a great guy. He was overly humble about his lyrics -- they DID have a lot of meaning to him -- only because so many psychopaths would constantly corner him demanding him for "the answer". He had to somehow convince them that he was just a regular guy and they should stop idolizing him, so he took on that self-deprecation, calling various songs nonsense, calling songs terrible, saying most of it was rubbish. He didn't really believe that -- he knew he was an unparalleled genius.
" a teacher asked what do you want to be later in life, i said happy, she said i dont think you understand the question i said i dont think you understand life" - j lennon
John Lenon admits his hipocracy here in his own words. It sounded good and we, the fans, made up the meanings to the songs not the other way around. So who really are the geniouses to the Beatles music anyway?
Maybe the hippy was some enlightened individual checking up on Johns true nature. How many of us would invite a strange stranger into hour home for tea and crumpets? I may be a dreamer, but the world really needs more people thinking like John did!
1:50 What moved me was when Mr.Lennon said: Are you hungry?.......hmm? and the Mr Hippie Guy says: ...........yes. Then they both go in the manson and eat chocolate mike and bread. Then the music starts..
What would anyone do if they went back in time to meet John Lennon? I would travel to like 1975 and say "John, I traveled 40 years from the future to meet ya." And he'd be like 'Any traffic on the way?' And I'd say 'I just made it past rush hour.' And if he asked what happens to him, I'd be like. 'Love to, man, but can't change the future, reprecussion and all the shit, you know, Doctor Who shit?' And he'd nod and we'd probably play some songs and maybe a little weed, but I'd probably just watch
I would want him alive to this day too, but the ironic thing is he might not be important to us alive as he is dead. It's mean to say, but I'm sure he'd be a respected musician in the world, but his symbolism would lack meaning.
@ZomgRuler I was thinking that would be a cool concept for Back To The Future 4. Marty McFly and Doc Brown take a time machine thru time and save their heroes. JFK, Lennon, Tupac....okay, maybe not Tupac.
@ZomgRuler I'd love to have been around The Beatles in 66/67 after they quit touring around the time they made Revolver and Sgt Peppers. To watch them at work. But I don't know if I'd want to meet them to speak to. I'm a bit reserved.
@dabeshu that is mind blowing in a way. I'm surprised everyone is not commenting on that. I'm going to check the second and third pages and scan through for that.. we are the only ones on this page.
@dabeshu John Lennon was the shit. He was much deeper than just a 'hippie'. I know you don't mean that in a bad way.. but I'm just saying its not that easy to pigeon hole some one like that. That guy was smart as hell, creative, and original. not to mention deep.
Don't confuse yourselves. Everything John did had meaning to it, even what it was at best nonsensical, he still did it on purpose. This, in my mind, solidifies John Lennon as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. He doesn't try to make himself any better or any worse than this man who was sleeping in his garden.
@rattussapiens thats truth but i dont know if the insecure its about the other guy, or if he as he said, they are all words thats fits toghether and say something, that would make lennon meaning less

@holahahaful Yes, but just because he's in England doesn't necessarily mean he would dunk his toast in his tea. I'm merely pointing out that it's not "an english thing" to do this, as the above poster suggested.
Such a genuine and reasonable response on John's part... of course the music he wrote was from his own perspective, and about himself, the band, or Yoko if it was about anyone. What makes some music relatable isn't that it was written with a specific person or people in mind, it's that it can be beautiful, interesting, and most of all very human. We can hear it our own ways and each take our own message away from it. To me that makes the music more meaningful, not less.
That's the problem EVERYBODY has with Pop music these days. It's not about you, a pop song is literally musical Mad Libs. It's meant to appeal to a very general demographic.
@pretzelzetzel i never said he's a true scouse stereotype. i said he's a true scouser. they're actually completely different, and you'll only find the former on desperate scousewives before you mention it
I think this is what most artists would say when they talk about their music. People extrapolate way more from music lyrics than what is actually there.
Well that's totally not the hippie pop-culture image I've been raised up on ...that dude looks normal. DANG IT. Now I have to rethink my mental images all over again.
@Koru It's not like everyone is born with the magical knowledge of the name of a member of some band from the 60's. Contrary to popular belief, the names of each Beatle really isn't common knowledge.
That said, I'd suggest ssal1122 just uses Google if he's serious, or try harder if he really is trolling.
The amazing thing is that the person knew that Lennon had a connection to him, and when all is said in done.. he did. He had dinner with him and a discussion with him and connected with him. It all fits.
I don't see what the problem is. John Lennon just said that he isn't singing to a specific person really when writing or singing his songs. The Hippie was disappointed yes but then John feeds this man at his own dinner table, which, lets be honest, would never happen with today's musicians.
@BlasterTon It wouldn't have happened with most musicians those days, either, and I'm sure there are one or two nowadays who would do it. It's not about the era, it's about the man.
This makes me sad, John Lennon comes off as an arrogant man who doesn't put much into to his lyrics. I hope this if just a facade which he puts on for the camera and he wasn't like this younger. I guess sometimes we paint an image of someone perfect, then when you see them in a realistic context your painting becomes a little distorted...
@Jamaalinnit I liked the dude but then I kinda felt sad when he told once that he loved his child with yoko more then his son Julian because it was planned that they would have it and Julian was a surprise. That's sad to say about your kid.
If I was famous I would have my personal police force beat that hippie and then plant evidence on him for the real police to find. Then I'd only come out of my mansion to give him the finger while my servant butters my lobster.
I can feel the pain in that guy, honestly. Almost like my chest hurts watching it.

BlasterTon 2 months ago 74
@BlasterTon It wouldn't have happened with most musicians those days, either, and I'm sure there are one or two nowadays who would do it. It's not about the era, it's about the man.
pretzelzetzel 2 months ago
@BlasterTon He probably only fed the hippie because the cameras were rolling.

@chaereth I'm not sure Lennon was the type to ingratiate himself with anyone - he did things his own way.

@Jamaalinnit -
I really don't see how it's arrogant.

@soaper4 He is being a bit arrogant... I don't know how you can't see that.

oh my god. What a beautiful man. Yoko, you're a lucky woman to have been with him. Well deserved too, I think.

If I was famous I would have my personal police force beat that hippie and then plant evidence on him for the real police to find. Then I'd only come out of my mansion to give him the finger while my servant butters my lobster.
