@kurlyfries22 First, the picture needs to .bmp, 100x100. Second, you need a text file called character.

name=(name of utau)

image=(name of image).bmp

author=(youtube name)

Copy and paste this into notepad, save it as character, and put it into your utau's voicebank, and you're done! c:

@Loleifos I had the same problem! What I had to do was set my computer's locale to Japanese, and then those ???////ee/e! things will look like normal Japanese. Hope this helps! ^^

Not that i'm challenging you, but even as a beginner, I'd advise against recording in 32 bit. 32 bit is surround sound, and you don't want to end up with any sounds that sound louder in one earbud than the other.

@peachbunny124 They all must be around 1.5 to 2 seconds long. I would say 3.5 seconds max. This is because if they are too short, when your UTAU sings a long note, it will be trying to stretch something that was short to begin with (and would sound awful >w<).

@GumiAzuka Aw, thanks! To pronounce "n", you can even just hum and single note as an "m" sound. You need to make sure you are holding the notes for at least 2 seconds to make sure it's suitable to not "choke". In Japanese, most consonant sounds (except n) are said much shorter and softer than a lot of words in English. I'm sorry, I don't really help with things like that because it requires me to have some form of audio prepared. It's best just to learn from hearing Japanese.

@dpscorpiobrio Have you done the OTO.ini yet? I have a tutorial on that. Sometimes the file may just be corrupt. Try saving it elsewhere and moving it too.

They, and I are real people, so we can have our feelings hurt. You may not care because we're just internet strangers, but that doesn't make a difference if we're human. @Wavekitty You can't open the character file (notepad, if that's what you mean) in UTAU, so no it would not be an option. If you are trying to set a current singer, that can be found at the end of this video and the beginning of the 3rd tutorial (it's just shown there though, not explained).

@animehammy101 It can depend on the quality of the microphone. Also, you can't be too close to it, and there shouldn't be any background noise etc. Make sure the note is sung clearly as well.

Also.. can you hear in Audacity when you play it back? Using the amplify feature in Audacity is very helpful. If you can't hear it in Audacity makes sure you have external mike marked if you have mike plugged in, or internal if you don't.

@UtauKiriko No you record every sound (of the Japanese "alphabet"). You can sing it all together, just in audacity, highlight the section and "Export selection" under File.

@TheAntiVentus That might be something with your computer... plus everything in the folder is important. Are you talking about the English patch or UTAU? You can just download UTAU straight to your computer. See tutorial 1.

@averyanime You have to add her to your singers. You have to go Tools>Option...>Bank Regist. Then what you need to do is click 'Select', go into your UTAU's voice folder, and pick a random sound from the list of sounds you recorded. It doesn't matter what sound you pick as long as it's a .wav and not a .wav.frq file. Then replace what's in the name box with the name of your UTAU (if it wasn't already there) and click Add. Then click OK and now she appears in your singer list.

My Utauloid sound really messed up. I don't know why but when I put a recording of my voice into utau, it doesn't even sound human, it sounds like weird sound effects.

It still doesn't sound right(It still sounds like sound effects). The recoding sounds fine in audacity though. Should I just try a higher pitch when I record it? Or am I just screwed when it comes to making my own Utau?
