perpetual motion is impossible because one can't create a perfect vacuum where there will be no friction between one moving part and another. It is also impossible because as a wheel spins it has a constantly changing acceleration in the direction it is currently going because acceleration is a vector quantity. Because neither energy nor mass can be created without the sacrifice of the other, a wheel can never perpetually spin because the energy powering the acceleration must come from somewhere
