  • And who can dislike this? I don't understand (and I don't care a lot)

  • A great performance... Wonderful Jam.

  • breaks into for what it's worth @6:30

  • This is fucking crazy!

  • love em ALL like family and honored to share a planet and a timeframe with em. :)

  • Jimmy, Percy and JP honored Neil by inviting him to jam. Neil documents the moment on Keep On Rockin' in the Free World stating "Got a note from Jimmy ...". It meant a lot to all of them. Jimmy played rythm as a nod to Neil but I don't think I've ever seen Robert with a guitar while on stage with Jimmy. Great to see and hear them all jamming together totally unrehearsed or scripted. Perfect for the godfather of grunge!

  • I've died and gone to heaven. The levee broke.

  • the rockin-roll,vibe was so strong even robert plant picked up a guitar that was awesum,im sure they said jolly good time that was,

  • Still can't believe I saw them live at the reunion concert, it's a blur! Any of you guys there?

  • Best combination ever?

  • What year did this happen?

  • Hubbard, you are wrong, although I do think there's some emotion he is displaying. After all, Neil is giving his respect to Page, and ast the same time Robert is giving homage to Neil through his choice of lyrics, and does it in an incredibly creative way. Off the top of his head... and Jimmy is just laying back in the moment, and seems to be thinking, at least to me imho... did this just happen? And I think if you look at his expression as he walks off he is smiling.

  • @swanier1 except those are stephen stills lyrics. :) great vid just the same.

  • page is amazin but love neil youngs dirty style so cool

  • Page doesn't even bother to play lead. He lets Neil and Plant (!) do it. It's a joke to him, I do believe.

  • boooring

  • Can you just imagine the wall of soumd?? Incredible.

  • jason bonham, bonso's son

  • Who's on drums?

  • Uniting of Les pauls lol

  • thumbs up if ur gonna listen to the original

  • this is pretty bad..........Young just make's a bunch of noise

  • @waialaebeach Actually, it's deceptively musical for most of it. Maybe there's a little, white noise at the end, but that's the most of it there. Also, Neil Young constantly fluidly mixes harmonics into his solos. As a guitarist myself, I find that very impressive and creative. The thing you got to understand is that Neil Young's lead playing is intentionally VERY different from Page's.

  • Neil wins top prize for being the ultimate rocker! Wow!

  • All you guys who are like this doesn't sound any good and Neil young is crap. Its called its a bunch of old rockers on stage having a fucking blast now let them fucking rock and roll!

  • haha jimmy page is just laughin at Robert Plant and neil young at 7:44

  • @RocknRollBitch1 dont think he is laughing AT them, just having fun...he affectionately pats Neil's amp as he walks off stage

  • @Remulaktake2 im 25 n love this lol

  • @Remulaktake2 or maybe over 75.

  • It's not the same without Bonham's drums.

  • That is awesome!!! Thank You!!!

  • buffalo springfield off the hook

  • Having just watched a solo version of "heart of gold", I love how Neil Young completely changes personality when moving from acoustic to electric. Such violence and exuberant chaos.

  • Ottimo !!

  • @drakan946..listen pal...i just called some stupid falks and gues what here you answered. You don't know jackshit, the stuff u mixin comes from one who don't know shit 'bout music!!!For your education shithead Animals never SIGNED themselves as authors, check the record/cd what ever, second LZ ARE pure disgrace for true music lovers who know their stuff no one RIPPED OFF others like they DID period,FACE IT!!And Bad to the bone was never GT tune ...leavin to ya to find out who did!Use brains if any!

  • Pretty cool to see, and Neil rocks, but this hardly sounds like "When the Levee Breaks" at all. I think Jimi Page set the tone all wrong for this.

  • Can't imagine Jimmy and Neil on the same stage considering Neil can't play.

  • Comment removed

  • Human nature never fails to prove how damn people are!Just to read this brainless asslickin' it's enough to make one sick! No wonder all of those who worship LZ must have size of the brain down to a pea!The biggest thieves, plagiators in history of all music!!!They should be in jail not RNRHOF!Now can anyone of you braindeads tell me WHO THEY RIPPED OFF "When the levee breaks"!!

PS ...Plant&Page are still in the courts for their theft of someone elses hard work, and they are gonna cough up ALL!!!

  • @Mr63PB For your information, almost every blues musician in history has played other people's songs. Led Zeppelin only got sued because they are rich and famous and people are envious of them! No one sued the Animals when they recorded «House of the Rising Sun», a traditional song, or George Thorogood when he recorded «Bad to the Bone», which sounds almost like Bo Diddley's song «I'm a Man». Hell, even Bo Diddley made a guest appearance in the videoclip for the song.

  • Just two guys playing guitar.

They both know who they are.

    Good stuff!

(Can we hear Jimmy's version of "For What It's Worth" now?)

That scares the shit out of me for just mentioning it!

  • @wdchefdave56 Led Zeppelin used to play it live in the early years I think

  • Please....someone tell Neil to sell his electric guitars. I don't know if I'm deaf or dumb, but his solo playing is horrendous. Not just now, but always. It sounds like a 10 year old that just learned to use pick harmonics. I cannot see why no one sees this.

  • @TheAnimalman21 LET'S HERE The Animalman21 GUITAR MAKE SOME NOISE ???

  • @beezy631987 Let's see any critic do better than the legend they are critiquing. Yeah, I can play, but if I were to go off on a Niel Young-like solo, Id be admonished for whacking off with my guitar. It is self-indulgent noise....as you said. He can play it if he wants...and I can call it for what it is if I want. If you like it, enjoy.

  • @TheAnimalman21 I guess you don't really know who Neil Young is. Do you think that playing like that is easy!? He's got his guitar sound full with effects and he has to control the feedback while still playing his solo! I play the guitar myself and I can say that he really is a genius and that is guitar sounds really awesome. Just search old black in google and check wikipedia about it. It's not something you can talk about easily, it is an awesome guitar!

  • @Drakan946 I do not need to search old black. I have a 1971 SG with tune-o-matic pickups and a Bigsby tremelo tailpiece. I guess I could run my guitar through a Morley or an echo chamber at high stage volume and call myself a hero for being able to control feedback while playing non-melodic notes.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Neil''s music. I just hate his electric soloing...especially live...it's just noise. I'll make an exception for his work with Buffalo Springfield. I've seen Neil and Crazy Horse multiple times and for the most part, it sucked.

  • @TheAnimalman21 Yeah you must be deaf and obviously dumb. Neil Young is one of the most versatile, creative musician/songwriter/performer there ever was or will be. you don't have a clue about what music involves. If someone can play hard rock, country/and switch to blues and play, sing and play the harmonica at the same time give him credit where credit is due. Neil plays what he wants not a sell out or someone who lets record companies tell him what style they want he is a legend.

  • thats why they call neil young: bernard shakey

  • damn neil was going for it. two legends and innovators neil and jimmy

  • Is this a young Michael Lee on drums? Sounds like him (R.I.P Michael Lee)

  • Neil Young just freaking dominated Jimmy Page. Robert Plant even took a dump on him on this song. And I love how pissed Jimmy is at the end, you can tell, but he keeps his cool and shakes Neil's hand

  • @beckstein19 He isn't pissed, it's obvious that Jimmy let Neil make the song his own, Jimmy doesn't have anything to prove to anybody.

  • Neil Young just freaking dominated Jimmy Page. Robert Plant even took a dump on him on this song. And I love the nod to Buffalo Springfield at the end

  • i am so happy that the rockers are still alive for the most part .I baried my brother in 1984 from a drug overdose. Vietnam did him in. he was a loving soul that could not take war I want the outrage back that we had in the sixtes. he loved music and played bass, lead reathym and blues, wrote over 150 songs wordes and music and no one cared.. i feel so sad!

  • lets see i dont exactly know when this happened, but my honest opinion- jimmy page can still play well, neil young can still play well, robert planet.........sadly not so much

  • @ThePIEBOYG

Sorry, but your entire comment is silly.

    (my honest opinion)

  • wish you were here Bonzo.....

  • While I agree Jimmy should've had a bit more room to manoeuvre, let's not forget Neil is a guest (a very special one at that) and it's not like Jimmys career depended on this performance since he's been established as one of the best guitarists in rock history, plus he looks happy to be playing rhythm with his fellow rock stars and that's why I like this performance

  • yong did a great improve and i think he tried to connect with the band. his phrazing seemed to be saying: let me in let me in with its movement. that pent lead is cool phrazed to push and pull the music but the band seemed to be saying to neil: your here bt you cant come in. except once in a while. all this in the end made it sond fn rocking blues baby. loved it. i

  • ONLY Neil could steal the spotlight from Led Zeppelin. I wish this had happened in their prime, w/ Bonham, but this is a gift to see regardless.

  • This Jam just doesn't work for Neil...it doesn't give him any groove to play off...he just wanks it here because there is no real melody to play off of...this song just isn't a good venue for an not Zep guitar player to play off of...

  • Neil Young is the most over-rated beneficiary of canadian-content reg's. Can't sing, can't play, writes a bit. "It's my style, man". Notice how all the other guys are aware of each other and what's going on - NY is just into himself, that's why he missed the cue!

  • @themcool88 thats an absolutely ridiculous comment how has he survived in the music business for so long if he cant sing or play he has his own unique style and plus he changed his music on numerous occasions so he's not just a 1 trick pony oh and also cortez the killer guitar solo is in the top 50 greatest solos ever not bad for some1 who can't play seriously have a day off

  • @SuperJoemac1 nicely said!

  • put down the axe? plant was the only 1 with the guts & spirit to jump into the fray with neil. neil TRIED to engage page, but jimmy wasn't havin' it, which i think was kinda rude. plant, on the other hand, got it immediately, & regardless of whether or not he played well, adde the tension neil was lookin' for from SOMEONE on the stage (he ALWAYS worked that way with stills). made the group's performance a LOT more exciting...

  • Robert Plant does look kind of strange playing a guitar on stage like that.

  • JUST ALL LEGENDS JAMMING THE HELL OUT OF THIS SONG IN AN AWESOME WAY!!!

  • the top is here...young and page....fa

  • Mr. Plant, please put down your guitar...

  • The noise, god what noise, what awesome noise.

  • LOVE IT. 7 people don't know what good music is, shame on them.

  • All great !! But Mr. Plant please put down the guitar before you hurt yourself, it really looked painful for you to play.

  • Neil is rocking the shit out of that guitar, he knows how big Neil Young and Zeppelin on the same stage is

  • Its like a gibson fuck-fest

  • haha! best comment here!

  • Cool liked the way robert plant started singin for what its worth towards the end

  • 7 peoples levee broke.

  • This should be the Super Bow act every year not the fucking Black Eye Peas

  • @TheSPACECOWBOY68 That would bring a tear to my eye, if Packers and Zeppelin played in the same arena :')

  • @TheSPACECOWBOY68 I heard that!

  • @TheSPACECOWBOY68 We should have this on all the Black Eye Peas albums too.

  • That was fucking gorgeous

  • This is how it's done kids!!!! Neil refuses to get old. Play like it is your last day alive. Neil kicks ass,not polite at all. Jimmy take note!!

  • The best of rock in roll...the king is gone but is not forgotten!!!

  • @brdyjames49 ; Yeah, he was in the zone alright . The LOADED zone.

  • That must have been so boring for Pagey. I think he played the same chords for the entire performance!

  • is this John Paul Jones in the bass?

  • not too shakey.

  • love its!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I’ve seen Neil live with Crazy Horse, Booker T And The MG’s and Pearl Jam, and I think he should have hired Zeppelin as the ultimate backingband (with Robert Plant on backing vocals ONLY)

No one can beat Neil in his own game – not even Plant who plays lead like an 8 years old.

The tempo shift Neil makes at 7:40 is pure class.

  • @upriem Neil does what he wants and needs to change. Miles Davis did too.

  • what year was this

  • @1krazedkid - Zep was inducted to the Rock Hall in 1995.

  • Page is like one of the greatest guitar players, and didnt do nothing great in this. guess he didnt feel like showing plant and young up?

  • . If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, [X2]

When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, [X2]

Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,

Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

  • Ha ha! Young fucking rocks! Fuck all you preppies talking bout music you cant hear. Go listen to some other instrumentalists with no rocknroll edge .

  • Neil solos (well kinda), Plant solos (even iffier), and Page plays rythm. Something does not add up here.

  • SOOOO INCREDDIBLY BAD PERFORMANCE!!!!!! UNINSPIRED..BORING TUNE AND CHORDS..

  • Plant actually does not sound that bad, sounds a bit like at Knebworth.

Its just cool to see these gods (jp, jpj, rp) descend from their throne to give 90's folk a taste of their thunder.

  • I watched this live back in college and always told anyone who would listen how incredible it was. Never figured that i would get to see it again back then. But....gotta love YouTube. Sweetness.

  • These guys are retired musicians, their up there to do what playing music is all about, HAVING FUN, look how happy they all are, jumpin around and rockin out, who gives a shit how neil sounds, hes rockin out havin a great time, thats all that matters. I think all the folks on that stage have proved themselves enough in the past that they could care less how they sound, there just havin a good time.

    Rock on!

  • @Wizard421 Well said!! Totally agree with you, man.

  • why is everyone critisizing neil, yeah well try to play like neil, you find out youll never succeed....no matter what

  • Why is everyone complaining about the technical skills of Neil Young? The dude is fucking amazing, this video was rad, boo hoo Jimmy Page didn't play lead vocal, you don't have a guest artist play rhythm guitar. I wouldn't invite Stevie Wonder to play and expect him not to do piano work and only sing backup, damn people.

  • Why does everyone have to analyze it to death. ya Jimmy Page is the exceptional guitarist here. Neil Young took the lead so what. Trash Neil all you want he still stands on very solid ground in the music world. This one's better than that one - take about childish --- they are having a bit of fun get over it.

  • niel is off his head

  • Niel Young rocking out to his one note leads!!! Embarrising.

  • What is this crap?? Jimmy Page equals lead guitar, not rhythm. Cool to let Neil sit in, but would have been much better to let him play rhthym, and Jimmy shred on lead. I think Robert pulled a groin trying to hit those notes; wrong key. JMHO

  • Sonic harmonic devil music. Good Golly Ms. Molly ... get me to the church on time!

  • This is pretty cool, never seen Percy with a guitar before.

  • "something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear"

    so cool.

  • "I hope Neil Young will remember... a Southern man don't need him around, any how."

  • @thevampyrash that's why these brits took him

  • i gotta say....... i love 'em both, but this kinda sucks. i.m.h.o.

  • needs the harmonica, which neil plays very well, and the breaks in the verses w/ the drums; to me, that's why it doesn't sound like the same song. listen to them one after the other....i love all these artists, but i agree neil could have added to the vocals and i wanted to see jimmy play a freaking solo!

  • @2monkeys8me I think it was agreed when they did this that page NOT play. Reason: He would utterly lay waste to both of them especialy niel young and it would be embarrasing... I think that the approach of niel and Plant goofin around would be more fun and no one would get hurt. However, I agree..at the end page shoulda just let it go and give us a good one.

  • That was fucking INCREDIBLE! Thank you so much for posting!

  • @pillowpants84 What year was this?

  • is Neil the only one here "feeling"?

  • i love how neil was so in the zone he missed the singal to wrap it it up, plant had to tap him!!!

  • @brdyjames49

why would you want to? lol chance of a life time!

  • In all due respect to the contributions of all present that day however in looking at the last 6 or 7 comments below one glaring fact is being overlooked.... Robert Plant does not play guitar, look at the notes he is fretting (which tells the story). Respectfully, the 800lb gorilla in the room (or on the stage) is Neil Young and why he was given a guitar that day instead of a microphone I can't explain BUT I sympathize with the sound engineers working that gig-They deserve hazardous duty pay.

  • this was from 1995 - poor pagey hes as silver as Dumbledore now hahaha-- still great -- if anyone here is interested there is a great dvd with Jimmy page -jack white and the edge (U2) it might get loud DVD its absolutly wonderfull- im sure everyone here will enjoy it also it explains alot of old l-zepp songmaking that was not widly known - whatever - its great especally when they all jam it kicks ass

  • @ebtahi989

why don't you upload it for us (?)

  • And this is exactly what Rock is all about.

  • Fuck you to who ever thinks Neil is over rated he's a Canadian idol

  • @GoldenSlumbers109 all these guys are great - keep in mind theyre not 27 anymore-- and impretty sure theyre lifestyle back then shure took its toll on them - ahem bonham :) they are all great

  • great great vid, thanks for the post

  • this kicks more ass than a gold medal world champion ass kicker at a kick ass ass-kicking competition.

(had to spell check that, eh)

  • amazing, this is history

  • Great! I think Neil is overrated. Jimmy is a beast!. It's just missing the backwards harmonica

  • Time to hang em up boys !!! Ouch, this blows except for the drums & the bass of course

  • listen i disagree only cuz this first off isnt a studio session and playing it off the comp with crappy speakers doesnt help - but i do see your point cuz it doesnt sound that good -mind u me this was in 1995 - have u heard plant or page lately - or the plant and allison krauss music its absolutly great so i can see where your coming from

  • Can you imagine if Neil Young and Joe Walsh would've hooked up with Zep instead?

  • romi esto es un te maso nena

  • Neil just rocks the shit out of this one, thanks for posting.

  • plants playing young's style solo, playing on the very special timing - and Neils face showing great fun of it.

  • "Zepplin's classic"?

I think it might have been around a little longer than Zepplin!

It's amusing to see Neil Young takin the lead role in the presence of one of the greatest riff writers in RR.

  • plant can play guitar?

  • Different tuning, guess because Plant just can't get those crazy high notes anymore. Still sounds good, but just not the same without the signiture Plant Zep high voice.

  • NEIL RULES

  • WOW!..... I remember watching this when it happened but I haven't really went back and watched it til now....

MAN, Robert was Smokin on the Guitar!.... Neil was Getting Down... Jimmy and Jonesey, of course, solid as a rock.... Thanks for posting...

  • NEIL FUCKING GENIOUS YOUNG !!!

  • I love the way all the old rockers can get together and jam not like alot of bands today who are worried about who is better then who bullshit these guys had mutual respect for each other

  • Vintage tuff guys.

  • without the alternate tuning of the original version and the bottleneck it don't seems the same song

  • OK, folks: Even if you can't stand Neil Young, and his guitar style, please realize that he is not up there randomly- he was a huge influence on Zep through Buffalo Springfield & CSNY- they have stated this many times- he is up there because they WANT him there. So, really all the bitching and bellyaching is silly. If you don't dig it, TURN IT OFF and watch something else. It is just a jam.

  • Sorry folks- Neil solos are shredding it- not his style of music, but he's going for it even with guitar god page sharing the stage- most people would puss out and take a back seat to page

  • Best R&R HoF induction year ever, Zep, Neil Young, Allman Bros, Zappa, and Janis!

  • Spinnact, I'm guessing that's going to be the most intelligent thing you say today. I guess Neil's one note matches that one hair he's got wound all around his head a thousand times.

I'm glad, nonetheless, that I gave you a reason to see your name in print.

  • No Robert Plant, put the guitar down. You can't play.

  • lol.. It made giggle seeing how they're all playing les pauls. They would be.

  • jimi hendrix was once asked "what's it like being the greatest living guitar p0layer?".

jimi responded " i don't know man, go ask neil young."

  • @dcmackin1 SERIOUSLY?

  • @dcmackin1 thats wrong man he actualy sed "i dnt kno man go ask rory gallager"

  • Shredder is right. Neil Young plays one solo all the time--and it's one note. He's the most overrated artist ever and my only problem with Robbie Robertson's judgement. Because he's crap.

  • @h00pak youre a fucking idiot

  • Comment removed

  • Neil took a great stand in the beginning. I also liked how Jimmy Page blended from that movement. A defining moment for both guitarists creating the band's blends.

  • Love the guy, but Neil is somewhat spastic and while inventive, he's really way off key at times in his exhuberence to be playing this song with the mighty Zep... John Paul & Jimmy appear to be getting a laugh off of the fact Roberts guitar sounded as good or better than Neil Young's acid trip.

Love the "Something's Happening" segueway though, nice tip o the hat to Neil, who was obviously in pardise.

  • David Bowie once said,"I play a saxophone as good as Neil Young plays a guitar". Ha ha ha ha ha!

  • Comment removed

  • @chrismcgon If you knew anything about Bowie you would know he's an amazing sax player. Thats a compliment.

  • @whatbum I know a lot about Bowie. I didn't say it, Bowie did.

  • Neil Young wrote some great tunes in his day, however i can't believe he was ever considered a guitar hero. He's sloppy as shit. He should have been embarassed to pick up a guitar in front of Page.

  • I Prefer BOTH!

  • @zemzamiimad I don't agree lol

  • @SoloJarred you don't agree cuz u don't listen enough to neil's music .

listen to it and then come bayou

  • Comment removed

  • @zemzamiimad How do you know what I listen to? I happen to love Neil's work but I prefer Zepppelins. Its a simple choice of artists. I could see how some would prefer Neil. I just prefer Zeppelin

  • @SoloJarred

As a life long "Fan,' of Neil I can dig what you're saying.

No arguement here, I'm also into Zepplin

But even I weren't, as it's written in my profile, we should respect each others right to choose, or something to that affect.

    Peace.

    Rock
