What is the piped instrument called that looks like a flute. I know it is not a flute, but I do not know what it is called. As a flute player, I would love to learn how to play that beautiful instrument. It sounds much prettier than any flute I have ever heard.

the flute that's held vertical is called the 'xiao' and the flute that's held parallel to the ground is called the 'dizi'.

I still think it would be better if they got decent people to do the drums etc.

Put them on the side if one must. There is no reason though, for the drums to in the background music to be so weak. It really detracts from the over all performance.

I don't object to Modern sound engineering.

I object to the electric bass and drum rhythm.

It's not particularly good, nor is it played by members of the band, and it seems to negate the ability of this group from reaching a higher potential.

I would recommend going completely classical, if necessary, add more members to the band, be they western classical instruments, or if necessary, modern ones.

Otherwise, it's only half their music, and half some electronic background noise.
