  • "We'll start off with a tbsp of WORCHISCHIZSTER sauce."

    You are quite amazing.<3

  • Is it possible to make Seitan, Gluten-Free?

  • @PeonMoron i really wanna try the 'No-Killy-Philly' Cheesesteak

  • @PeonMoron Seitan is created when the gluten from flour or the vital wheat gluten binds together. I looked into it but I really don't think you can.

  • I made the seitan yesterday, and it turned out great. I had to sub some barbecue sauce for the worchestershire sauce/liquid smoke because these are pretty hard to find in small-town Norway. I also didn't have any chickpea flour (for previously stated reasons) so I mashed up some cooked chickpeas and blended it in with the dry ingredients. I don't know how the consistency should be, but I think it made the seitan less "spongy".

  • Your one super hot vegan I would let you eat me any time.you drive me crazy eating that bun.lol

  • Love your vids. Hate this background music :P Put something more along the lines of a zombie apocalypse!!! This music sounds like a fairy is cooking in the kitchen :) And you're a kick-butt vegan, not a fairy <3

  • My house smells AMAZING, right now!! I'm almost ready to pull the seitan out of the oven. :D

  • This looks delicious! Your videos are going to make my transition from vegetarian to vegan a bit more easy. Thank you! :)

  • I EFFING LOVE THIS GUY ;D

  • Wow, that looks SOOO good!! I've gotta try it :)

  • @Suliztin it tastes so good too!

  • You can't eat me! I'm not vegan... or kosher.

  • I wonder how you learned to cook these recipes?

And could u make portabello mushroom steak?

  • @xoxluckycharmsx Just a bunch of years of practice. Lotsa cooking!

  • I just found your videos. Love 'em! Gives me ideas for food as my family has taken to persecuting me because of my diet! Will definitely try this, and the other seitan recipe. They look easier than the ones I have been using. And I'm basically pretty lazy, so......

  • @AstridOakenshield You've come to the right place. We try to take foods that meat eaters say they can't live without and veganize them.

  • This show+Epic Meal Time=AWESOME

  • first of all you should open a restaurant. second of all if you do it should be in NEW YORK!! WOO i seriously eat there erryday u would even need other customers

  • I jUST finished this Seitan, it is GOOD! I coul dnot find Mesquite, but I di dhave liquid smoke. I di d see Liquid Smoke Mesquite flavor, is that what I shouold have used as well? Anyway, I am going to make a Cheese sauc with Non Soy Lecithin powder and Nutr. yeast flakes. i am trying to go Raw, but I love my seitan to Much, This is good stuff! Thanks so much, oh, for my V Stock, I used "Better than Bouillon" it is Wonderful stuff.

  • i think u should be on the food network

  • @XD1ninja thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • @XD1ninja He should be in my kitchen, while I sit with a glass of wine and purr/enjoy the view ^_^

  • so that stuff that looks like meat is just bread?

not vegan not even sure what vegan is but i just like cooking shows and now i have like a a shit ton of questions . i think i would try to make this but i bet it cost alot of buy the vegan brand stuff

  • @sco6t6t6 No vegan stuff doesnt cost much Veganism is just that a person doesnt eat anything that is produced by animal meat and such.

  • @sco6t6t6 Well, it is gluten but it's nothing like bread. Vegan is no animal products. If you were to go out and buy all of these ingredients then it might cost a bit. But assuming you already have the spices and sauce, the wheat gluten is about 3.99 for a box. This recipe will make enough to last a while and the next time you make it, you won't have to go any buy all the ingredients, you'll already have most of them.

  • OMFG!!! i love you! you just made it easier for me to eat vegan with food that actually tastes good :D your awsome!

  • did u know SILK got bought by one of the largest Diary Producers called Dean Foods, better to make ur own plant milk, just thought i would let u know

  • @adembasou Ugh, really? That just ruined my day. I love SILK, why would they do that?! Not good. But I guess on the bright side, they can promote it to their non-vegan customers.

  • It's woosta sauce!! I'll have a look for some wheatgluten in London, it looks like a proper man sandwhich

  • Ok,I made this at home,It turned out "oh so good".The seitan had great flavor to it.The cheese sauce was awesome!!!Great recipe, please continue to share more of your wonderful recipes with us!!!

  • @Marie00163984 as long as there are still survivors out there, I will keep making videos :)

  • I wish you could cook for me ...

  • I love your enthusiasm for the food. Not to mention the amusing premise. I'm not much of a cook; a lot of my food consists of things like "beans rolled up in a tortilla." But I like watching your videos anyway. Who knows, maybe someday when I have lots of spare time I'll be inspired to make myself some "fancy" vegan food.

  • i love your eyes

  • Alton Brown is retiring Good Eats this year (if he hasn't already). You should send your tape in. This looks great and they're gonna have a timeslot to fill. :)

  • Sure it tastes awesome (love seitan) but @ 5:50 it kinda looks like a big poop.

  • @them000ch I agree with you there...at that point you just have to slice and dice it ;)

  • @them000ch eeew it really does you should have listed this comment as a Spoiler lol

  • This seems like a lot of work & I'm not sure I can get a lot of the stuff you used. =/

  • @MatthewLeelev it is a bit of work, but you will be satisfied with the finished product. It's so good!

  • @MatthewLeelev I thought this about seitan too, but I found I could get the ingredients and the work was worth it. Good luck. :)

  • I'm going to attempt to make this soon. I'm wondering if there is enough, can use the left over broth for something else? or better off dumping it.

  • I will stick with real meat philly cheesesteak

  • @lovebigboobs29 Hahah- you again. Why are you trolling Vegan videos????? Go back to your boobies....haha

  • @vineyardedge LOL because these videos are hilarious. Instead of eating fake meat why not the real thing. The real thing is awesome!!

  • @lovebigboobs29 Yeah- so are real boobs, but you probably suck fake ones all the time....

  • @vineyardedge I suck real ones.

  • K thanks

  • The only thing I didnt use is chickapee flour cause its not available where I live I yried to swap it with regular flour pnce didn't help I tried to double the vital wheat gluton once

  • @Luckyman068 that might be it. regular flour has gluten in it. can you find gluten free flour there? another name for chick pea flour is garbonzo bean flour.

  • It tastes ok but complety falls apart when cooked

  • @Luckyman068 not sure then... It definitely shouldn't fall apart. You are following our instructions to the T?

  • Made your philly subs several times and can never get it right always swells up and falls apart anyone have anytips? I'd love to try this if I could figure it out

  • @Luckyman068 hmm, I don't know what the problem could be. Maybe use less liquid in the dough? Are you cooking in oven half the time covered and the second, maybe 45 mins or so uncovered, so the liquid can cook out? Is it tasting ok or no?

  • @Luckyman068 did you turn it over? because the part of the seitan submerged by the cooking liquid stays soggy until turned so it is not submerged. i had to turn it three times so that both sides and the bottom all cooked.

  • I have the same casserole dish!!! I just made tofurkey roast and glazed seitan in it for thanksgiving!!!

  • do u have twitter or tumblr? :) i love your channel and just realised i wasn't subscribed!

  • @ccarrdev4ndcataracs thank you. yes we have twitter theveganzombie and facebook/ zombiegate. You can click to it through the links at top of our youtube page.

  • @ZombieGate Great thanks! :)

  • Anybody tried to steam this - instead of bake it in stock...?

Don't know if I can afford the stock ingredients...

  • I'm in love with your sleeve. And you have beautiful eyes. Oh and the food looks nice too...

  • Ummm... You HAVE to marry me! I need you in my life =]

  • OMG, Great food, hot host.. you're awesome!!

  • whoops. again^^ of course i know "nutritional yeast" - but as "yeast flakes" sorry for the spam :)

  • oh, again:

i can't find molasses here in germany - and what is nutritional yeast used for? I have no idea where to buy that.. :o)

  • Can i make one big role and eat it when it's still hot (to salads, baguette, sauce)? Cutting thick slices out of it? :) It's my first selfmade seitan!

  • Comment removed

  • 4:38 for giant... ... ... arm.

  • a man that can cook is sexy, especially if he cooks vegan style <3

  • you should seriously have a show on the food network!

  • @jessicaohgee I wish!

  • I love your show! I was wondering if there's a video with your recipe for your veggie stock? If there's not I'd loooove the recipe! Thanks!

  • @mariebarys Thank you! Our veggie stock episode will be coming soon. I promise! :)

  • I just put my seitan in the oven. SO EXCITED! I halve to laugh every time I see you with that big brown log of seitan on the cutting board. "I know you're thinkin' this doesn't look good...."

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @Mikeypod Eww, it doesn't...BUT when it's all sliced up it looks and tastes delicious!

  • Am i out of luck if there are no vegan or health food stores where i live? i am really wanting to try a'lot of your food :) it looks soooooooo good

  • @phobiared91 Well, if you absolutely can't find it at any grocery store near you (a lot of regular grocery stores now have natural foods sections), then you can always get ingredients online at places like vegan essentials

  • Whats the music playing in the background around 00:58

  • @hazylazzy it's called souvenirs d'un slavophile by Voyvoda.

  • @ZombieGate Sweet, Thanks! :)

  • WW

  • EpicMealTime for cool people.

  • You know sugar is processed with animal bones? How do you deal with that issue?

  • @tidbitlover Yes, a lot of sugar is. We use Florida Crystals brand sugar which is vegan and not processed with animal bones. There are other brands that are vegan as well.

  • I thought doing my own seitan might be too difficult but I no longer think so and I'm going to give it a whirl.

  • @kjazzingilbert let us know how it comes out!

  • @ZombieGate Did the No Killy Philly this weekend and it turned out terrific. I had my doubts when it was in it's raw form but it came out awesome. Thanks for the recipe and keep your eyes open for zombies.

  • @kjazzingilbert Yeah, it tricks you...doesn't look all that good at first then BOOM, looks and tastes amazing!

  • The seitan looks like poop... xD But the finished product looks DELICIOUS!

  • this looks awesome. unfortunately, daiya cheese isn't available in germany. do you know any alternatives?

  • @robomatik2006 You could try using the vegan gourmet or the vegan rella, but I can tell you right now it's not going to come out like it will when using Daiya. You might be able to make your own cheese sauce using spices and nutritional yeast. Some oil, flour, vegan margerine, garlic, soy milk, nutritional yeast, and the spices we use in this video...

  • I love that he can't pronounce Worcestershire. If he reads this it's wuus-tər-shər. Easy!

  • Legit the funniest recipe video I've ever seen. It was a pleasure to watch, you're adorable. xD

  • @TheUndergroundRave Haha, thank you! Glad you liked it!

  • Hey Bro

it would be good to get your stuff on SupremeMasterTV (dot) com and some of the other vegan websites. Would you be interested?

    max respect

    charlie

  • @humanproductions sure, why not.?

  • @ZombieGate OKAY GOOD! REALLY REALLY GOOD! I need your email address please and I will make a propposal / introduction for the SMTV bradcasters I am friends with. I will copy you in of course. SMTV translates everything they broadcast into 47 or 49 or sommink languages and broadcast it all the way around the world through cable and sat neworks for free. What goes on there gets supported by worlds largest and most intense vegan army so we can eat the brains right out of our problems ! (? ;)

  • @ZombieGate What's your name bro?

  • Im making this tomorrow. You are awesome!

  • @Raidergnr84 Enjoy!

  • yummy! oh and the food looked good too ;)

  • @msjessibobessi Thanks ;)

  • Do you alone come up with the recipes? If so, please marry me?

  • @malulie Yes, between me and the cameraman, they are all our recipes!

  • You and Colleen Patrick Gourdreau need to get on the Food Network. The meat network...>_> lameasses. I would buy cable and watch a veg cooking show every single day if they made one. You're really good, you cook like a champ

  • your eyes are a beautiful color........ i love how you make the cooking so fun and playful. good job :)

  • Deat Vegan Zombie:

I made the Seitan... and came out 'fluffly'

Any thoughs on why this happened or what can I do to fix it?

(it tasted yummy, although it would be impossible to use a mandoline and all that)

  • @kathakano360 Hmm, not sure. Maybe you used too much liquid or didn't roll it tight enough.

  • @ZombieGate Could be that... my kneading kind of sucks... that could also be it... :S

  • @kathakano360 Hey, at least it tasted good, right!?

  • @ZombieGate It did! the taste was amazing, first seitan that I've eaten that actually tastes good! (thank youuu!!!)) I will try to knead it more the next time, maybe it was that, my dough was never hard as on the video... always fluffy :P

  • These shows wouldn't be half as awesome if it weren't for Jon, makes great meals and is funny to boot. (Loved the worcester sauce bit, lol)

  • Are there any substitutes for the chickpea flour? I'm dying to try this but I'm having trouble finding the flour here. Thank you (:

  • @Foifede It's also called garbonzo and fava flour if that helps any.

Now, you wouldnt eat us. You're vegan, remember? :-)

  • Trying this tonight! YAYAY!

  • @alethakays Take a picture and send it to us!

  • dear vegan zombie- you totally rock.

  • Your recipes look amazing, but to be honest I don't really see the need for the whole "zombie-part". Kinda wish you just left that part out and had a regular vegan cooking channel. Thumbs up though nevertheless, I'll be trying this one for sure. :)

  • esp. nice seitan recipe. vegangate zombie man - what persuaded you to become vegan?

  • I'm a 3 week old vegan.I just made this, and it is delicous! Thanks for sharing!

  • @Tipharah1 Yay! I've been vegan for almost a year now. Youtube really makes it easier, right? :) You're awesome for getting onboard with veganism!

  • @jennainthesky Thank you!

  • I say "woosta-sheer" ... you know, like Worcester MA.

  • How about "Philly Cheez Snake" or "Not-so Cheese-Steak"?

What about "the Herbivore's Dilema"? Doesn't make an sense? Okay, how about "the Vegan Steeler's Sammich" or "Lunch of the Beast"? 'cause it's made with Seitan. Get it?

  • Oh this looks so yummy! You should name it Zombie Cheesesteak, Vegan Cheesesteak or Seitan Cheesesteak lol My hubby would love that shirt...

  • Can you tell me more about the mesquite? I've never used that ingredient before.

  • @arestlesswind It's a plant based powder that can be used as a sweetener or flour and has a nutty taste to it. It's perfect for adding to seitan.

  • @ZombieGate Where can you buy it?

  • @ZombieGate I found it at my local Whole Foods. Thank you for this awesome recipe!

  • @arestlesswind There ya go. Any natural foods stores and it may even be in the spice section of a grocery store.

  • looks good - whats the music?

  • @FloridaCarClubcom Thanks... Music is by Voyvoda (souvenirs d'un slavophile)

  • HOLY!...that...is the best thing you've made YET! I was totally jealous when you took a bite of that beautiful sandwich! :D
