  • For 1920's - 1930's music ALL THE TIME - check your internet for Loud City - Radio Dismuke

    - they play 24 hrs. a day & even do the commercials. FANTASTIC STUFF !!!!

  • I LOVE IT

  • 1920-1950 was a great era in music.

  • I love this song :)

  • I have always loved this song - Coleman Hawkins does an excellent version also. Thanks for posting :) I wish the 20's and 30's music, clothes and cars were back too!

  • Recorded on March 13, 1931, featuring a vocal by Ranny Weeks himself. "Out Of Nowhere", by Green and Edward Heyman, was published by Paramount's "Famous Music" division, 'buzz', and often featured in Max Fleischer's Paramount cartoons at that time (including 1934's "Sock-a-Bye-Baby", where an obnoxious radio vocalist singing this gets punched out in the "ether" by Popeye for disturbing the baby he's looking after).

  • @fromthesidelines That 1934 Fleischer Popeye cartoon was my first introduction to this classic piece of music.

  • @cha5 Mine too. A very funny cartoon.

  • one of my favorite songs

  • Certainly not Jack Buchanan, not sure who it is though

  • The singer sounds rather like Jack Buchanan - a little clipped and British. The song 'Out of nowhere' was written by Johnny Green, who wrote a number of song for a show Buchanan was appearing in, so there's a strong likelihoood that the vocalist is Mr Buchanan.

  • why do these songs always remind me of Popeye cartoons?

  • I know the singer isn't Bing, but the guy tries to imitate his Irish cry when he has a long note

  • could b 2010 ???

  • The title says it all - and still true today, really............

  • Unquestioned

  • dreamy and relaxing...!

  • now if only the music from the 30's came back with our depression of 09

  • here here!

  • dream on, my friend... :( today's public not to mention today's artists have no idea of the grandeur of this glorious music!

  • @missmishi08 its more of repression the stock markets not that bad :P

  • Wow, so relaxing and well made piece! I love this sort of music.

  • A classy tune, romantic lyrics that make me think of some old girl friends-my how time flies

  • the pictures and music go to together nicely, i really like it

  • We are playing this at my high school, just not as many solos and no violin.

  • Hold up Harbor dude & the rest of you yobs...when I said "What's so great about it?" I meant the Depression. Get it?

  • Wilbur:

You have just proved what I have always said:

" Say what you mean and mean what you say!"

We just don't have mind reading abiilties!

I'm glad you were NOT saying the music wasn't great.

We all have to ackknowledge that the music was indeed GREAT!

    I wish you well

  • whats so great about it?

  • The music but you evidently have no ear for classics..

  • Republicans brought on this Second Great Depression just like they brought on the first on..It's time to finally get rid of the fascist Republicans forever...OBAMA FOREVER

  • actually one of the main causes was that ppl stopped spending; without spending business suffered. banks closed b/c they couldnt afford the money to give to ppl that wanted it out of their savings, and there wasnt a federal reserve to give those banks money. plus the crash made it like 100 times worse

but dont get me wrong: WOO GO OBAMA =D

  • 2008: The Great Depression!

  • Yep

  • The first one had a better soundtrack. But our war is less threatening to MY life.... yay 2009~

  • de lo mejorcito

  • wonderful thanks so much

  • written by Johnny Green

  • its not an " old tune " anymore but , after october 2008, the REAL SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY!are we gonna distillate moonshine soon again in our basements, too??!

  • Great old tune. Nice slide show. I put this one in my 'favorites'.

  • such a gorgeous melody.

  • I love this song. Why does the singer have a funny accent--"you took my haart and found it free" what is that?

  • Such a wonderful, utterly romantic rendition of this standard!

  • DREAMY!!!!!!

Love the first picture of the couple gazing at the moon.

  • A great standard still occasionally revived by jazz performers.

  • You came to me out of Bydgoszcz! Wonderful collage of cities--or are they all of Old Warsaw? Yet 1:10 looks like the Brooklyn Bridge.. Best of all, 1:30 or so; truly Hopper-esque.
