I have always loved this song - Coleman Hawkins does an excellent version also. Thanks for posting :) I wish the 20's and 30's music, clothes and cars were back too!
Recorded on March 13, 1931, featuring a vocal by Ranny Weeks himself. "Out Of Nowhere", by Green and Edward Heyman, was published by Paramount's "Famous Music" division, 'buzz', and often featured in Max Fleischer's Paramount cartoons at that time (including 1934's "Sock-a-Bye-Baby", where an obnoxious radio vocalist singing this gets punched out in the "ether" by Popeye for disturbing the baby he's looking after).
@fromthesidelines - The same sequence occurs in "Quiet Pleeze" (1941) and at least in that case the "obnoxious radio vocalist" was none other than Jack mercer himself- the voice of popeye (he also did the voice of poop deck pappy, wimpy and the 3 nephews, later he did the voices for all the characters in translux Felix the Cat)

The singer sounds rather like Jack Buchanan - a little clipped and British. The song 'Out of nowhere' was written by Johnny Green, who wrote a number of song for a show Buchanan was appearing in, so there's a strong likelihoood that the vocalist is Mr Buchanan.
Republicans brought on this Second Great Depression just like they brought on the first on..It's time to finally get rid of the fascist Republicans forever...OBAMA FOREVER
actually one of the main causes was that ppl stopped spending; without spending business suffered. banks closed b/c they couldnt afford the money to give to ppl that wanted it out of their savings, and there wasnt a federal reserve to give those banks money. plus the crash made it like 100 times worse
its not an " old tune " anymore but , after october 2008, the REAL SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY!are we gonna distillate moonshine soon again in our basements, too??!
You came to me out of Bydgoszcz! Wonderful collage of cities--or are they all of Old Warsaw? Yet 1:10 looks like the Brooklyn Bridge.. Best of all, 1:30 or so; truly Hopper-esque.
For 1920's - 1930's music ALL THE TIME - check your internet for Loud City - Radio Dismuke
- they play 24 hrs. a day & even do the commercials. FANTASTIC STUFF !!!!

@fromthesidelines That 1934 Fleischer Popeye cartoon was my first introduction to this classic piece of music.

why do these songs always remind me of Popeye cartoons?

I know the singer isn't Bing, but the guy tries to imitate his Irish cry when he has a long note
