  • Respect real masters!

  • 受けがすばやい

  • I practice JKA Shotokan. Rei!

  • Very nice training. Much respect to these teachers.

  • この鋭い呼吸。肩下げてお尻しめて腹閉めて

  • 74歳であれだけの動きができるのは凄い。

    生涯をかけて一剣を磨き続ける・・・お手本ですね。

  • Much respect!

  • That was beautiful.

  • Everything about this is stunning and very true. I don't consider Karate a sport for me tho.

  • RIP Toyama Sensei

  • I would really love to go to Okinawa and train everyday in Uechi ryu because down here in Nova Scotia, there isn't enough exposure to this priceless art.

  • 鐵布杉唷....... 你在幫他按摩唷

  • 自由組手のさばきのシーンと残心がメチャクチャカッコイイ

  • 素人目にも本物だと判るな

    すごいよ

  • human weapon

  • 7:15 Do you guys hear his "punch" ?

is it the video, or is that the actual "wind" generated from the strength of his punch making that "thrust" noise ?

  • @bigfatdick5000

that noise is caused by the clothes

but its also need strength of punch

  • they will never teach us the real thing in the states

  • As a former student of Kyokushinkai and a current student of Northern Style Kung Fu...I only have one thing to say..THIS VIDEO THAT I HAVE JUST SEEN IS TRUE MARTIAL ARTS ..NO BULLSHIT HERE !..Some of my kung fu peers always bash karate (i jus listen silently), but as a former student, i have a deep resect for it.. AFTER SEEING THIS MY RESPECT HAS GROWN TEN FOLD !! ...This is what real karate is about, not that bullshit that they peddle nowadays....One love to ALL my martial brothers and sisters

  • Yeah I'm a karate man, and it's the same with karate guys bashing kungfu, it's a shame. No art is perfect in everything, because they are man-made, and man is not perfect. Such arguments are pointless, and show lack of maturity in the arts on both sides. Victory in battle depends ultimately on you, not your style. If you are poorly trained, what good will your style do for you? Shinjo Sensei is a renowned Uechi master, yet here he says still is not satisfied with is technique.

  • @comrad1986, Kung Fu practiced in China, not all but most are far more complete than Okinawan Martial Arts, they focus on learning body, anatomy, medicine that includes healing, this is not taught in most of Okinawan styles, Chinese see Okinawan as farmers, which is a cut down. Having said that, you cannot take anything away from these guys, especially this school of bad assess & they are hard core as you can see. I have seen many Kung Fu styles that are not so great also.

  • @comrad1986 I agree with you!

Greeting from Russian, Kyokushinkai Kan 6 Dan Uechi Ryu 3 Dan Ju Jiutsu 5 Dan Combat Sambo.

  • Thank you so much for this nice Vid!!!

    Peace

  • Karate is for defense only says Miyagi, best form of defense is attack says Sun Tzu in 'The Art Of War', probably I didn't throw the first punch but my fist arrived first before his punch does...?

  • IS anybody else paying attention to the kicks Shinjo sensei is throwing at the other guy during sanchin testing? They look devastating on video.....I can only imagine how worse they look/feel in real life.

  • 這才叫武術!!!

  • koran=100%NOT a words of GOD=100%words of moha MAd man.

  • Shinjo family are amazing, there are many guys talking about karate, but you should try your technics with kinjo sensei face to face.

  • Wow, I'm a green belt in Isshinryu, and I wont be tested for sanchin until brown in about a year, and i cant imagine having such a great sanchin as these uechi ryu guys have. im going to have to work on that :)

  • Amen, bro, me too. Watching clips like this always reminds me of the standard that has been set, and how much we have to do to get to it, and uphold it.

  • Sadly, Tohyama sieko sensei passed on a few months ago.

  • self defense type martial arts is the best because it develops not just the defense but the discipline of the person. unlike sports type you just have to develop your 1 on 1 fighting techniques.

  • That makes sense. I'm a cop, and I always say that if a fight last longer than a few seconds, the guys don't know what they're doing.

  • How heavy are the weights that a martial artist held in his both hands?

  • I was watching something about goju-ryu karate and there are people in Okinawa that make these urns specifically for goju-ryu karate training. So the weight depends on your level of strength but I heard they weigh up to 55 pounds.

  • not just for Goju...

  • You're right not just Goju-ryu, but karate styles where body conditioning is an important part of the style.

  • I've heard legend that Chojun Miyagi trained with 95-pound urns. Imagine the kind of grip that would produce...

  • 25 Kg

  • Thank you for your information, guys!

  • This is cool. Still, I would like to see a guy like this in a fight with a modern MMA fighter. I've done TKD 114 years and BJJ 6 months. But I've never seen a "body hardened" guy fight for real.

  • that is because fighting for sport or to test themselves is against their core beliefs . It is the paradox of traditional martial arts training ... " the better you get at fighting , the less you want to fight " .... also , Okinawan karate is ill suited to sport fighting because we do not learn how to attack ...everything is defensive ... all of our strikes come AFTER a block ..

  • not true, at higher levels you see the attack before it comes and you can easily make a preemptive attack, it's a matter of choice - passive or aggressive, hard or soft, it is what you make it.

  • It is not a matter of choice . Not if you are training traditionally . The Okinawan masters have a saying ... there is no first attack in karate ... but to your point about a pre emptive attack .. you are right , but its not really pre emptive if you see the attack before it comes ..you are still being attacked so really the pre emptive attack is still defensive

  • One more thing ... the strikes in Uechi are designed to end the encounter immediately ... ideally the strikes are basically deadly or close to it ... most of the targets are to the throat , eyes , groin , and back of the head ... you really cannot use hard core Uechi techniques in sport fighting

  • it would be a massacre. you can't hurt these guys.

  • so you've done TKD for 114 years!! O.o you have to be a real master!!

  • Doh Dee Doh!!

  • you'll done tkd for 114 years??? or did you type a typo by accident? lmao

  • Holy SHIT that man is solid!

  • Uechi-ryu rocks.

  • uechi is a real demon.

  • this is one for anybody that disrespects the "effectiveness" of karate..beautiful

  • they are awesome , i love watching that film, its at the top of my collection , what an inspiration for all of us

  • great

    !!!!

  • exelent karate! great video

  • This is skill men!!!

  • The great thing is about uechi ryu is that it doesn't contain just hard techniques or soft ones, long or short fist techniques, but it contains alwaysd both sides of the coin, and it's simple, only 8 katas, no nonsense, even if each movement can be done only after proper, and heavy conditioning, you can learn and dapt to do them when your body isn't that tough, and still be 100% inside style parameters

  • I love the two-hand supported blocks. Looks much the same as my Silat style. Awesome Vid. THANKS!!!

  • It is the one of best Karate videos I have seen. Thank you very much.

  • it's an amazin video!

  • rezpect!

  • what is this stile?? goju? shorin ? ????

  • Uechi-Ryu desu.

  • Hard.

  • porraaaaaaaa!!!!!!

    tá foda pra amaciar

    a carne...hahahahah!!!!

  • Wonderful.. Toyama Sensei, Shinjo Kihohide and Shinjo Narihiro Sensei are great masters and living teasures.. Thanks for posting..
