There were at least 20 brands of instant coffee in 1970 so you have to realize that being number 3 was an accomplishment. Sanka was made by General Foods back then and I remember it as having a nice fresh roasted aroma and good flavor. In 1985, Kraft took over General Foods (and put them out of business) Kraft changed something in the Sanka formula which made it taste like plastic. They ruined Sanka.

"third largest coffee" doesn't mean anything!! it's not even English. Since when does a substance have a size? Now readers are going to say "They mean ...", and I will say "Who cares what they mean! I'm talking about what they say. That should count even more than us HAVING to guess what they mean".

It's definitely from 1974, I remember this commercial was on TV a lot during my sophomore year in high school. Good memories.
