Faith is a cop-out. If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can’t be taken on its own merits.

@thadrine Firstly, For anyone that doesn't know, you're quoting Epicurus. Hopefully no one is foolish enough to think that you are that elequent. Secondly, Faith, by my definition, is believing in something that is NOT proven. If you were able to prove my Faith true based on "its own merit" then at that time I would stop having Faith, and would have "proven fact". So I would be right. If you should fail to prove it true on it's own merit, does this mean that it has no merit at all? No.

According to that definition we're all evil because of the harm we cause to the animals and vegetables that we consume. God would have to kill us all to cure the world of evil, and this whole experiment would come to an end..:)
