@montesooma they're not gay. it was just and 80's thing to dress like a girl. check out early pics of Motley Crue. they did the same thing, but they ain't gay.
Excellent music, this makes me a point of merriment, a pang of emotion. It's deep, very very good song, for crying of emotion and getting the hair on end!. I love this song, my favorite after Fisherman Blues (The Waterboys)...
Howard Jones' song about forbidden love never fails to send a chill up the spine or tears to the eyes. Sniff. Even if I've never been in the situation described in the song (and thank goodness), he sure knows how to hit a chord with people through his songs.
at dekkk80, I totally agree. I listened to hours of this one song and related everything to my life at the time to it. Now as an adult w/children it's still just as powerful to me, just in a more nostalgic way. I love Howard Jones and all of his work!
He's an excellent pianist and a good singer, but a mate of mine many years ago used to work in recording studios in Manchester and London and he said that our boy Howard was a right stroppy, awkward and generally not very nice person.
@nickbaldeagle01, i've never worked for Howard Jones, so i'm sure that's a different situation, but had the great pleasure of meeting him in the late 90's after a show he did in my town. he was humble & very kind. it was a truly amazing show and night and Howard was nothing short of lovely to me and the other fans!
imo, he really should get far more credit for his music and lyrics that are so classic, beautiful, heart breaking, and timeless!
I remember driving back day after my senior Prom 1986 from the Jersey shore after things did not work out with my date.. Hearing this song for the first time on the way back to NYC and it has stuck with me since.... what if???
truely beautiful and so true

I am a man who doesn't care what his sexual preference is (why would I?).
I am here to listen to music. Some of the "hillbilly-intelligence" comments that are made on here, you couldn't even pay me to Post on here.

his best haircut and song right there. very good version too.
it's such a sincere and sentimental number but always leaves me feeling serene.

Few people wanted to work with him.
