Whitewater rafting on the Gally River is the bomb. Seneca Rock is breathtaking. Parkersburg (picture with the clock at the beginning) is a pleasant city where people love one another. No culture is singled out in WV, because we know we are singled out as stupid people which we aren't. The example of the militia in that picture is the proper definition of "redneck". That is how it got its name! NOT because of ignorance, but by the bandana around their neck! We are prideful people.

I was born in KY but moved to WV when I was 4 so I consider myself born and raised in WV. I currently live in TN and never knew how much I liked WV until I moved away. I'll be back one day to stay...when, I'm not sure, but one day.

I am from Jersey, born and raised and my wife is from, Europe, Bulgaria. We recently went to WV while driving cross country. We loved it so much that we ended up buying a vacation house in Charleston. Amazing state, housing and property tax is so cheap and West Virginians are awesome people.

I'm Canadian and in June of 2009 I passed through West Virginia. And I have to say it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. It weather was foggy and blew my mind away! If ever I were to move to the US West Virginia is the first place I would consider.

I say let the people stereotype west virginia. When I lived in Florida for 12 years I heard the stereotypes a lot as well. It keeps the state preserved from mass amounts of people moving here in return keeps out the rubbish along with that. I wish this video was uploaded in HD otherwise $.5 stars great job!

I live in Florida now, but I'm always proud to say I was born in Parkersburg, W.V. This video captures the true beauty of wild, wonderful West Virginia, although it's better to see in person. I'm proud to be born and raised in WV, I stayed in WV for college, and I've found a great job in WV. I was born near Harpers Ferry, went to Marshall University, and now work at Charles Town Races and Slots (shown in the horse-racing footage) as an Audio-Video Technician. That is my story. I first visted (from Newcastle,England) in 2002 to see my wifes family in Winfield ,near Charleston. The State is beautiful, miles of forested mountains, rivers and startling sites. Try the whitewater rafting, hunting etc and you must try Hillbilly Hotdogs'near Huntington. My son and I tripped from there to North carolina, Smith Mountain lake, the Blue ridge parkway and around Fraziers bottom. You can also still witness the strong confederacy...wow and moonshine! Go there, we have family in Winfield, near Charleston and the first time I visted I'd never really heard of the place. It's magnificant, beautiful scenary, almost untouched. The people are fabulous and very down to earth, they really do welcome Brits. You will see some of Dixie still existing, especially in the South parts. A recommendation: take the kids to 'Hillbilly Hotdogs' near Huntington, they have a website...nothing in Britain equals it.

Yes, I grew up there too. It is, in places, truly beautiful. It is also chronically at the bottom of the heap in almost every measure of progress because it is controlled by a one-party system, run by - and for - trial lawyers - one that drives business out, drives doctors out (me), and makes it generally unlivable - (unless, of course, you happen to be a tourist).
