@MoreBoingPlox Regardless of whether that's true or not, the truth is that hackers and whatever usually pick a platform that will travel the most amount of people, quickly, which is Windows, which has a market share somewhere in the high eighties, low nineties, i think. I still enjoy using Macs, and can see myself that way for some time to come, but nothing is bulletproof. That includes Macs.

@commentmachine1 Actually MACs have some very good security. If you put viruses/trogens/spyware into suitable ratios that are comparable. You find that MACs have considerably less problems than a windows machine per machine per 100,000 units.

Pc users exaggerate the cost of a mac. I purchased a 13" mac book pro for $1100 and it has i5, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd which is plenty for 90% of users. Find me a PC that has aluminum unibody casing, chicklet keyboard, backlit keyboard, edge to edge glass, 8hr battery life, is very thin, runs silent, does not heat up, and is reliable and easy to use as a mac. Oh wait you cant, the only thing that comes close is a dell xps 14z and thats over $1000.... macs dont seem that expensive anymore huh?
Mac is so overpriced i found out my computer i built in 2004 for about $ 1000 was almost as good as a power mac which was probably costed about twice as much

@WranglerDario When you buy a Mac, you don't get what you pay for. You end up paying more for out of date hardware (roughly 1-2 generations old) and the inability to upgrade... But hey, it comes in a pretty case and has a picture of an apple on it!
@MaestroDraven Parallels? How does one obtain this? You must forgive me, but my main focus when it comes to computers is editing, and maintaining my Operating system. I have (at best) limited knowledge of running anything outside of Ubuntu or Windows on a partitioned drive.
A program like VMware will allow for launching another OS inside an existing OS. I can set up a virtual environment in Windows and allocate pinpoint precise system resources to this environment, and then run the OS in a window. That window can be maximized at full color depth and resolution, and fullscreened to act as a primary OS if need be. Then all you need is OSX, a couple of VMware system settings and you're off.
It might sound like a lot, but when you're running 12GB of RAM, allocating resources is dead simple. You can even set CPU parameters, graphic options, etc. The downside to parallels is that you achieve slightly less performance than running it natively, but that's to be expected. I can still run Snow Leopard inside a VMWare window and it'll run fantastically.

Considering that I'm running a GTX 570M (I'm on a laptop), how much issue do you think that would present to me, were I to try and run OSX in that fashion?
Parallels doesn't take actual hardware into account. Remember that it is creating a virtual environment and tricking the OS into thinking its running on native hardware. You can run OSX on VMWare with any hardware combination you choose. It's different than actually building a Hackintosh where OSX runs natively. It's not exactly emulating the OS....just giving it a floating environment to run in.

Either is just fine, given the fact that most Win users parallel OSX simply for curiosity. We already have an OS that does it all. By contrast, your Mac can't do the same things, and requires Windows to ensure it can keep up.
Unfortunately, both OS's now run on a machine with an inferior hardware config. We don't have that problem as our computers are way beyond the Macintosh lineup. It's lose/lose/lose when you buy Mac.

If you try to video edit on a Mac Mini, you had better hope you're using non-1080p video and using a very lightweight video editor. I also wouldn't dream of running Photoshop on a computer that only sports 2GB of RAM. I just built a system for my sister-in-law which I consider to be low-end, and it has 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3. To top it off, it's Corsair RAM, not that garbage Hynix RAM that Apple stuffs their Macs with.

Not only poor, but overpriced. I can duplicate and exceed its specs, plus throw in a 24" ASUS ML238 LED monitor for $650. The Mac Mini is priced at $600. Abysmal to say the least.

Wrong. The PC's higher throughput and peak operating potential is light years ahead of the Mac. Render a 60 second Trapcode Form comp with 500x500x200 particles on X, Y and Z axis, and render it on both a Mac and a PC. The Mac will lose, the PC will leap ahead, and do it for about $1000 less.

I am a Mac user and I am satisfied BUT these ads just suck. Does Apple really has to do this kind of stuff? Telling every time that Mac its sooo much better in everything, PC users are frustrated all the time, ...? I am kinda ashamed by this commercials...

A program like VMware will allow for launching another OS inside an existing OS. I can set up a virtual environment in Windows and allocate pinpoint precise system resources to this environment, and then run the OS in a window. That window can be maximized at full color depth and resolution, and fullscreened to act as a primary OS if need be. Then all you need is OSX, a couple of VMware system settings and you're off.

It might sound like a lot, but when you're running 12GB of RAM, allocating resources is dead simple. You can even set CPU parameters, graphic options, etc. The downside to parallels is that you achieve slightly less performance than running it natively, but that's to be expected. I can still run Snow Leopard inside a VMWare window and it'll run fantastically.

Considering that I'm running a GTX 570M (I'm on a laptop), how much issue do you think that would present to me, were I to try and run OSX in that fashion?

Parallels doesn't take actual hardware into account. Remember that it is creating a virtual environment and tricking the OS into thinking its running on native hardware. You can run OSX on VMWare with any hardware combination you choose. It's different than actually building a Hackintosh where OSX runs natively. It's not exactly emulating the OS....just giving it a floating environment to run in.

Either is just fine, given the fact that most Win users parallel OSX simply for curiosity. We already have an OS that does it all. By contrast, your Mac can't do the same things, and requires Windows to ensure it can keep up.
Unfortunately, both OS's now run on a machine with an inferior hardware config. We don't have that problem as our computers are way beyond the Macintosh lineup. It's lose/lose/lose when you buy Mac.

If you try to video edit on a Mac Mini, you had better hope you're using non-1080p video and using a very lightweight video editor. I also wouldn't dream of running Photoshop on a computer that only sports 2GB of RAM. I just built a system for my sister-in-law which I consider to be low-end, and it has 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3. To top it off, it's Corsair RAM, not that garbage Hynix RAM that Apple stuffs their Macs with.

I am a MAC and PC user primarily for Multimedia design and music production, I love using MAC's to create and edit content I create but I will always use a PC or a live performance hands down because of the versatility my HP Notebook has, I love both and they both have many string and weak points. Wrong. The PC's higher throughput and peak operating potential is light years ahead of the Mac. Render a 60 second Trapcode Form comp with 500x500x200 particles on X, Y and Z axis, and render it on both a Mac and a PC. The Mac will lose, the PC will leap ahead, and do it for about $1000 less.
There's a reason why I'd need a customized iMac at $4000 to match the might of my $1500 PC rendering workstation. Benchmarks prove all. Conjecture proves nothing.

OSX is a couple of weeks from it's seventh incarnation. They release more updates, newer features, more innovation every couple of years.
