@Hofsteder Yup, that's what I'm saying, you people up north all speak english from a young age, am I right? And why is that? Subtitled films. that's how I learned, that got me a job, a career even, as I'm now an English teacher here in France, but everytime I speak to French people about it, they just don't get it... thank God some cable channels showed the way here back in the 90's. And believe me, French lip sync and dubbing is just as bad as what the Germans do!
@Hofsteder No no no, I'm saying here that translating (poorly, in this case) is in any case, murdering the original idea. "Traduttore, traditore" as the italians rightly say. Translator, traitor. And if translating a film is like murdering the authors, the actors, the directors, dubbing it is like turning their bodies upside down, pissing on them and then stabbing them repeatedly with pitchforks.
If we could just be reasonable and broadcast foreign films in their original languages...
This confirms my theory that translation is writing murder.
I mean, where do they come off translating "getting distracted" by "foutaises"? It doesn't mean at all the same thing, what they meant here is that people get distracted by mundane, everyday things, not that they concentrate on drivel!
Whoever did that must be drawn, quartered and have their balls stuffed in their throats, still attached (if only by a thread.)
