  • Very nice playing! You mimic John Taylor's awesome bass lines nicely! I just saw Duran Duran @ Nokia Theater in LA on 9/27. You pay great tribute!

BTW --- you Eastwood Classic 4 bass --- how do you like it? What's the build quality?

  • Kirsten loves this one... Well done.

  • bro excellant job i mean its really great i love duranduran even tho in the 80's when they were most popular i was barely born... ive liked them and all their songs , which is rare for anyone i think. any person with any artist ususally has a song or 2 they dislike or not prefer but again awsome..... by the way is that a rickenbacker bass or a differant brand?

  • @Rauhel Thanks for your comment - its not a Rickenbacker unfortunately. Its an Eastwood, Chinese built Gretsch copy.

  • Hi Spiteful--the best way I can think to describe 'ghosted notes' are those that are de-emphasized (muffled) to add to the rhythmic quality of the piece--very sophisticated stuff, used quite a bit in funk-style bass playing ala Nile Rodgers (Chic). Couldn't detect any bum notes at all!

  • @hofnericon Hoffs, you know far too much!! There are some bum notes near the end of the song - I didn't have the stamina to see it through... old age ):

  • @spitefulload Hi buddy. He doesn't know as much as you think ! Nile Rodgers is a Guitarist. The Bass player with Chic was Bernard Edwards !

  • @hofnericon Sorry to correct you buddy but Nile Rodgers is a Guitar player. The Bassist with CHIC was Bernard Edwards !

  • brilliant cover marc,loving the bass m8......happy xmas m8.

  • @uglybus7 Cheers Liam - thought I'd give the old bass a go for a change. Hope you have a good xmas too.

  • Duran was one of my guilty pleasures during the 1980s (and at times of weakness in the 2000s). JT was/is a great bassist, not unlike our own Bruce Foxton. Duran of that era (Self-titled and Rio) was full of New Romantic energy and analog (mammoth Crumars/Jupiter 8 synths and the like). Once the Fairlight came onto the stage, it was all downhill.

At any rate, capital job, ghosted notes and all.

  • @hofnericon Thanks Hoffs - not sure what ghost notes are, unless you mean bum notes... there's a few of those in there!!

There's no shame in being a Duranie, they were great apart from their lyrics and their music videos. Great live band too from the footage I've seen.

  • good attempt mate.

  • @backinnyc2010 Thanks. Are you planning on covering any Duran tracks?

  • @spitefulload ive done tiger tiger the instrumental,i do love the first 3 duran lps.do you have the means to record your guitar on my backing tracks if so i could record a track without guitar and send it to you

  • @backinnyc2010 I've got a Boss BR900, so I guess I could run a backing track and guitar through that. What track did you have in mind?

  • @spitefulload i like the bside khanada,to the shore,my own way,tel aviv the instrumental from the first album

  • @backinnyc2010 Just listened to those tracks - Tel Aviv would be my choice, although I quite liked Late Bar and Friends of Mine form the first album
