  • Your hair is gorg! Not sure abt the crisco but it still looks amazing. I can't wait to get to that length. Seeing you gals is wht continues to inspire me to stay natural. Keep up the good work!

  • you really look like alicia keys

  • Hey Lady....great video! Are you using a 1.5" or 2" flatiron? Either way, how do you like it?

  • @ShaunieStephenson 2 inch and loving it!

  • @richeau ok, 1 more Sedu question.....which one do you have? I'm thinking of buying the Ionic Pro Ceramic or Infrared Black Hair Straightener but not sure. I'm researching but any help is greatly appreciated. ESPECIALLY FROM YOU!

  • @ShaunieStephenson pro ionic ceramic, the regular black one ;)

  • have you ever tried cornrows and company hair care line? their products look good but i cant find one review on them.

  • @MsAfricanIndian i never heard of them! going to look them up

  • @richeau good. let me know what you think. im actually interested in their coconut shampoo and sweet orange leave in/rinse out conditioner. the ingredients of the whole line are great.

  • CRAY, Im so speechless!

  • Might actually have to try this next time I straighten. You don't think any of the other products contributed? Side note: Lucious?! eww; Snape Forever :D

  • @mitchellzee LUCIUS and I love him and Snape. I know the other products didn't contribute for fact.

  • @richeau Cool, can't wait to try it. Lucious/Lucius (sp) I need to go to bed...lol!

  • @mitchellzee hahaa well Lucius IS luscious...*swoon* .

  • your hair is so long my goodness

  • *Crisco

  • I think all this cirsco propaganda has convinced me to try it lol product pushas. @richeau have you been straightening your whole hair journey?

  • @LoveDaisee since 2001!

  • @LoveDaisee yep! i always straighten it myself

  • Was your camera moving by itself

  • @brinuenue yes

  • FAB!!!!!! LOVE IT

  • I say this with the upmost respect. Is there anything having to do with your hair you haven't tried. CRISCO, really, lmao.

  • @chevon1920 yes, coochie cream, mtg, dragon's blood, virgin's blood, or any of that stupid shit folks do trying to make their hair grow ;)

  • Your current length is my hair goal. seeing your wash and go vid shows your shrinkage is crazy! lol Thanks for giving us this cool tip

  • How do you use the castor oil? I still haven't found a consistent pattern for oiling my hair after shampooing.

  • @thedaughtersofsarah It goes over my leave in after washing. My hair is still damp, and I use it from root to tip.

  • @richeau Oh okay, so you only use it on wet hair?

  • @richeau Same here! Love it.

  • wow your results are amazing!!

  • Thank you so much for this video:) i tried it and love love love it it came out great and soft and light girl you have blessed my soul with this:)love it.

  • Is this the first time you have tried this? I am just so anxious to see how your hair reverts back because i remember the woman who used to straighten my hair growing up used to use crisco. My hair would always be really straight, but also never remember seeing a curl pattern in my hair until now. I so wanna try this. I may just try a small patch of hair first^_^ thanks

  • That is a good bit of information. After i wrote the comment i thought to myself she's not gonna damage that beautiful hair, she must know how high she can go. I just thought maybe the crisco aspect would make a difference with the amount of heat applied. Thanks for the reply!

  • Wow looking at the end result. Beautiful!!!!

  • Hi, you seem to have a looser curl patten from previous videos. 400 is not too high for your hair along with the crisco?

  • @lovelyme0520 Well I'll offer you this bit: curls get looser the longer your hair gets. As you can see my hair is nearly tailbone length compared to that of my other videos. And I've been flatironing the same way all along and no damage to my hair!

  • I gotta try this! So what temperature do you flat iron your hair?

  • @optimistichumblelady thanks honey! Remember you can straighten your hair as much as you'd like and it will stay straight as long as you don't get it wet..personally I'm not a fan of overuse of heat. I only flat iron about two or three times a year. Crisco or not you can still damage your curls if you flat iron too much.

  • lol, i'm sure the sales of criso have gone up.

  • Great job. It looks like you could have gotten away with just one swipe.

  • Is that Sedu flat iron really good?

  • @richeau: How often do you flat iron your hair? How long are you going to keep your hair straight before you wash it?

  • @ALifeUncomplicated i flat iron two, maybe three times a year...and this sucka is going to get washed probably in another three weeks!

  • Wow!

  • Your hair has grown sooo much!

  • WOW is all I can say!!! Your hair is AMAZINGGGGGGG!!!

  • When I saw the title of this video I thought you lost your damn mind LOL But WOW your hair looks beautiful! I'm about to grab the Crisco in my kitchen.

  • @LaDominicana2011 I think everyone did till they saw the end of the video....HAH!!! I think I got the right to talk sh*t lmao!!!!!

  • @richeau Okay after seeing this video, I couldn't help but try it. I did my hair last night and it came out beautiful. Crisco...who would have thunk it!

  • how hot do you set the flat iron

  • Okay so this is totally random...but I was looking at YT at my mom's and showed her your channel...and she's all like, "But she's spanish!" I told her that you were black and this woman could NOT take it! I was dying laughing.

  • I shared your vid with my husband. I told him I was going to try the Crisco the next time I flat iron my hair. He asked me if was cheaper. My reply was yes; cheaper than some heat protectants. He said "Don't let Crisco find out! They will jack up the price once they find out Black women are using it in their hair!" LOL!

  • @Apriluv7779 lmao!!! I love your hubby! Mine said the same thing lmao. But I swear once you use it and your hair is soo soft he won't be able to keep his hands out of it!

  • @richeau Love you girl! Been watching you since 2007 when I discovered Youtube! You have helped me so much! I appreciate you and think you are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for all the reviews! Much Love . . . Apriluv

  • very prettay! your title scared me LOL

  • Your hair came out so beautiful, it looked like a weave! LMAO! Thanks for sharing this info with the rest of us. I might have to experiment with that stuff in the future.

  • Girl; You are taking me back to when I was a a little one. This is what my Mom used on my hair because as she said there's no burning smell.

  • Your hair looks awesome! Looks so silky and smooth...I may have to try it when my hair get longer (doing no heat for a year). LMBO at some of your comments. Great hair to go with a great personality :) And Lucius is definitely the hot one! Lol

  • Your hair is so healthy and beautiful!

  • Your hair looks FABULOUS!! Keep doin' what you doin'! Saw your video on Africanexports blog. Fantastic idea! I feela a bandwagon coming on....

  • at times u looks like lora from basketball wives

  • Wow!! Crisco..idk???

  • @jadar47 have you used olive or coconut oil in your hair??

  • @richeau Sorry took so long to respond.... But yes, I use olive oil and coconut oil under my heat protector but I stopped using real oil or grease when I press it or blow it out. Comes out a little better. Then I apply a little oil on top!

  • Hi! Great video! Wondering..what castor oil do you use? I'm interested in getting one for shedding and thickness. Is it good to use in the winter? Thanks!

  • @anniegracie101 thanks! heck yeah it's great to use in the winter! i use the home health brand, 100% pure cold pressed. It might help with shedding!

  • Back in the day during slavery time even as close as my grandmother has used lard and bacon fat to moisturize or soften there hair! Hunny I don't see anything wrong with it! If it aint broke dont fix it! LOL Your hair looks smooth, healthy and shiny. Love it! :O)

  • Please let us know how long it lasts before it starts to revert! Im really about to buy some and try it...before I spending all of my money on Mizani!

  • @BCBrowni what are yall doing that your hair reverts?? lol!! I keep my a press in for a good 3+ weeks! and that was before even trying the crisco

  • Your hair looks great. Might have to try this

  • you betta stop!!!!... OMG!!!.... BEAUTIFUL!!!...

  • You the bomb.com!!!

  • A looooong time ago, black women used shortening to straighten their hair or the daughters hair, especially when they didnt want to use lye to process it. It gave great shine too. How long did it last?

  • Pretty

  • Girl your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!! whenever I decide to flat iron my hair I bet I'll be getting me some Crisco!

  • hey girl! how often do you flat iron your hair?

  • Beautiful! Do you find it difficult to rinse out of your hair on wash days?

  • @godsflame2 well..i only used it this once for this video but i mean it's an oil, it shouldn't be any harder to wash out than any other oil

  • i had a great result using a mix of silk amino acids, grapeseed oil and coconut oil... THis is making me go hmmmmm min a big way!! I think I will try this out at my next flat-iron session (4-6 mo from now)

  • @okorolina lol I was thinking about the silk amino acid when I was watching this vid. (crisco+ grapeseed oil+ SAA) I think that would make a nice heat protectant balm!

  • love it boo! that's my hair length goal!!

  • The richness of your hair colour...ahhhh!

  • @glittered453 I really think the ayurvedic and castor oil I've been using has darkened it some ;) I don't mind though! I love dark hair

  • @richeau well it's gorgeous. Talking about ayurvedic stuff, In one of your old vids you were using hibiscus powder. was it (Rosa sinensis) or (rosa sabdariffa)?

  • @glittered453 oh hell girl, i have no idea it just says hibiscus, it's the dried flower.

  • I only have 2 products you mentioned. The Aphoghee green tea and Crisco. I hope it will work. I never flat iron at 400 or blow dry. Maybe that is why my hair reverts quickly. I will let you know my results.

  • love the results.. a must try!

  • Sis, your hair looks amazing...!!!

  • Look at that shine...wow...I luv it...And who the hell cares if you use crisco...if it works for you, why not use it...Obviously you are doing what's best for your hair...and I will continue to watch...keep these videos coming hun...they are great

  • Is that Amy winehouse love is a losing game in the background! I knew I loved you!

  • @dancegrl7

I have not tried it yet because I'm having too much fun with my hauls from black Friday.

  • crisco is old school! My grandmother used to press my hair with that when hair grease was not available

  • When I was a little girl my grandmother would do this with the hot comb. Your hair would be straight until you washed it.

  • Get your Snape on girrrl! lol

Seriously though, you and your hair are gorgeous! Crisco, who woulda thunk it?

  • My bad.. I just saw what kind of flat iron in ur description.. :) lol

  • @MsBlackoreanlady hehe it's okay! I got mine from...my daddy lol but the home health brand is usually at vitamin shoppe. I did order a liter from vitacost though

  • Wooooow so pretty!! My roommate is ganna trip whn she sees me straightening my hair with crisco!! Lol I have a couple of questions though.. What kind of flat iron do u have?? It works so well! And can u get castor oil from

Wal Mart? If so what section? Went there the other day and. Could not find it.. Thanks for the great videos!

  • What blow dryer do u use?...ur hair is amazing as usual I need to straighten my own hair and go for a trim thats such a good idea...also how does the aphogee help when used before straightening???

  • @diamondnique I use a regular gold n hot blow dryer, nothing fancy. The aphogee is a protein treatment, I always do one before straightening my hair.

  • @richeau i used to have one too darn thing blew out but it did get the job done...im in the market for a new one dont know if i should replace it or upgrade to the sedu..i use aphogee too have to try it b4 i straighten next week

  • I'm gonna try the crisco method next time I flat iron. Your hair looks like the lady on my box of amla powder. Work!

  • @boriquachula4 lmao! omg i was looking at the sheen and thinking the same thing earlier hahahah girl that's funny! yeah just a little bit is all you need

  • Hmmm i wonder if bacon grease would give me the same results????? JK your hair looks healthy. Thanks for sharing

  • @lteefaw as long as we can cook some eggs to go with your hair! lol

  • How hot is your flat iron? And what kind is it? ... Just bought some Crowding before I came home :-)

  • do you think its really the crisco or the amika products... hmmm maybe do a test to see?

  • @yumyum215 Nah. I wrote it somewhere in these comments...i started blow drying without the crisco and it was hell doing so. Then I added a dab and it worked really well.

  • your hair looks great! too bad i'm too lazy to flat iron my own hair. LOL

  • @merchgal lmao! thanks girl, shoot wish i could do it for ya!

  • Looks beautiful but did it feel greasy?

  • @moonlightsadness no dear, not at all! my fiance just left and had his fingers ALL up in my hair, he said it felt soft cause he hates anything greasy. you literally just use a dab.

  • Beautiful results!! I'm going to to start with using castor oil more regularly, then I'll give the Crisco a go.

  • @Kaydee007 yeah im telling you the castor oil....some cant really use it on their scalp but along the strand and really on the ends...OMG! it made such a difference. my ends looked realllllly good

  • Flippin beautiful!!! GIRL!!!!!! I'm so in in love with your hair..I can't wait for my hair to grow out to your length... Funny, my boyfriend just made a comment recently about all the oils I have purchased of the past few months. He said what's next crisco. I just laughed. Now I'm going to show his ass this video...

  • @goodec323 hahahah!!! my fiance just left and was playing ALL up in my hair!! he cracked up when i told him about the crisco..and couldnt keep his hands out of my hair tonight! hell shoulda had him in the video afterwards lol

  • GURL!!!!! that is freakin beautiful!!! I use crisco as a leave in.. but now.. on to the flat iron!!!!! i mix orange oil in my criso for a light scent because it has no scent!!

  • @micaiahty THANK YOU LORD JESUS ALMIGHTY I wish I could make your comment bold print! Lol it doesn't have a scent.

  • I never thought about using that! Because I don't flat iron that much my hair doesn't straighten out well. I need to get some good straightening products and I will have to use this!

  • idc what anyone else says! I'm gonna try this! (once I run out of my other products) lol such a product junkie

  • That's amazing. Truly a multipurpose oil. lol !!

  • @tamoniva12 that's exactly what it is!! lol ive heard that it's good for eczema too. i mean...what's the difference between this and olive oil? one is hydrogenated one isn't.

  • Your hair grows so fast remember when you cut it sometime ago and it was on your sholders in it's curly state. Just georgeous and bless.

  • OMG beautiful!

  • and this is why I love Youtube

  • what does it smell like? sorry if it was already answered.

  • @Diamond52894 it has no smell!! really lol my hair smells like the amika stuff I used (which smells AWESOME)

  • @richeau thanks! i think it would be weird if someone walks into my dorm room and see me putting crisco on my hair lmao oh well.

  • @Diamond52894 haha! please, half these chicks walking around with a beat up, abused chewed up looking head of hair and then slapping some fake hair on top of that!! who you really fooling booboo??? use your damned crisco if you want! lol

  • @richeau ROTFLOL! words of wisdom.

  • @richeau i used the crisco on my hair. it turned out amazing! however, i did find it a tad bit heavy and i didnt get the 'bounce'. maybe i used to much? i have thin hair strands but dense hair...are ur hair strands thick?

  • @Diamond52894 When you washed your hair did it revert back good?

  • @latia4u yes. no heat damage :)

  • It looks great

  • Your hair is simply amazing! I too saw the video of the woman flat ironing her daughter's hair and gave it some thought. Also, I used crisco for a wash and go a while back, but have never tried flat ironing my hair with it. Now after seeing your results, I am definitely going to give it a try the next time I flat iron.

  • Bella! K dios te me bendiga con ese pelo nena! Girl of I had ur hair....! Lol love it!

  • @DominicanQueen07 gracias mi amor!! besitos para ti!!!

  • Oh and with shea butter my hair doesn't revert for some reason. Does the crisco keep your hair straight? Like you know you can't really take hot ass showers when you flat iron but that shea butter keeps it straight.

  • @xoxtamisha girl i only JUST used the crisco last night!! lol i take hot showers and my hair never reverts, dont you wrap your hair when you take a shower?

  • @richeau oh huh that might be the solution lol

  • I will try this and let you know the results. Thanks so much! The only thing I can't do is straiten my hair and I'm hoping to overcome that.

  • @natrlchallenge well start off with your flat iron NOT ON HELL lol until you figure out how straight you want it. i dont want you burning off your pretty hair!

  • Hmm Crisco? I might actually try that but I love flat ironing with my shea butter. Shea butter is heaven sent.

  • @xoxtamisha hey you never know but IMO shea butter is wayyyyy too heavy to try with this. it's better to maybe leave in your hair afterwards

  • i thought i was the only one doing this!

  • @naveahsmoments see! bet your hair is off the hook too!

  • Wow your hair has gotten so long since I first saw your channel

  • Haha "He'd probably hex me" I love Harry Potter movies

  • Wow who would have thought! It's beautiful, thanks for the vid

  • I was totally ignoring this on LHCF but seeing your results has inspired me to try it!

  • I love your hair!! so pretty

  • STOP IT!!! Are you serious! Okay, bet, lol.

  • Well dayum Crystal Gale!! Thats gorgeous!

  • How do you use the castor oil and how often?

  • @wowoverflow I've been using it every wash day, I use whatever leave in and put the castor oil on top from root to tip and then twist.

  • WOW! Brilliant Idea!!!

  • Your hair is beautiful!

  • Beautiful results!! Now go use the rest of that Crisco and fry me some fish!!!!

  • My grandmother used to do that...very old school!!

  • Watching you do your hair is like looking in the mirror, from the way you do it in sections, to how it looks before and after. Even the way you make sure to get the roots, LOL. Gonna give this a try, nice to know Im not the only one struggling and taking hours to do my hair.

  • Wow! Your hair is F-A-B! Love it!

  • I get sick of the same scent too. I have some 2 oz bottles so I'll see if I can make mini infused batches of castor oil....... *wheels turning*

  • Just wanted to say I love your videos and personality!!

  • I alway mix my castor oil ih the kbb jojoba oil and hat helps with the smell. I wonder if you can infuse castor oil?

  • @dastinob im sure you can with an essential oil. trouble is...i end up getting sick of the same scent after awhile!! lol

  • old school remedy i remember when my mom use to do my hair like that with the crisco hair become long and straight thanks for the video u have such beautiful hair love it!!!

  • This is so familiar to me because my older aunts and my grandmother used this to press hair back in the day. Your hair looks lovely!

  • omg now see you wonder why you're my hair hero... You've convinced me to use some crisco on my head... I wish I would have seen this last week before I flat ironed but wait til next year! Your nails are lovely by the way

  • Looks good! This reminds me of when I was a teen and they first came out with the spray Pam. I was babysitting and tried some in my hair with bad results. LOL I'm glad this worked for you.

  • hahahaha!!! genius! I used vegetable oil before (yes the kind you cook with) but never the Crisco! Watch meh now!

  • @euphoricsoul83 girl what you think crisco is? vegetable oil you cook with!! lol

  • I'm going to try this out, but my hair only seems to like the Fantania's
