The art on my wall is actually a hand made Egyptian appliqué quilt that I bought in the Tent Makers' Ally in Cairo on a dance trip. It was so cool watching the artisans hand stitch their appliqué designs free-hand with no basting. I liked this one in particular because its lotus flowers reminded me of a square dance. You might try a Google search to see if you can find anything similar. Thanks for the inquiry and good luck!

I just went to my first contra dance last week and I am totally hooked! I absolutely love it! Even though I got a bit confused a few times :-)

So, does the caller choreograph the dances?

The caller usually calls from a collection of dances that they've organized for the evenings program- some of which may be composed by the caller, but most usually are not. Not every caller is a writer/choreographer as well, though some do. Some may play a musical instrument or two as well.
