A little of both more heavy fast attack and close combat IMOthough

Depending on what you do with your Dark Angels Army, they can be either close combat or ranged.. With Ravenwing you fast and close, with Deathwing you are mostly a heavy support based army, ranged combat. The only time you'd move in for close combat is with your terminators. But its normally a better idea to keep them close to your heavy support, such as vendicators and predators, and the likes.

The Dark Angels codex states that if Belial is in the army the deathwing terminators can be considered an elite and and troops choice.

Another similar rule is that of Sammael and the Ravenwing. If Sammael is part of the army the ravenwing attack squad can be considered fast attack and a troops choice.

My general answer to questions like that is go with what you like best. Rule of thumb: Three Colors, each lighter then the first. The lightest is the extreme highlight and the darkest is the base.

chaos black, dark angels green, snot green,and scorpion green, and those are pretty much all the basics. oh and since they have lots of cloaks i mix scortched brown with a little bit of bronzed flesh

I suggest you check out my blog or my ebay sales, (I use the same name there) and pick up my Blood Angels AND Dark Angels video sets. You will not regret it. The Blood Angels vids show all of the basic highlighting techniques, while DA covers drybrushing. Hope that helps!
