Very easy to use although I wish the supplied remote had more functions. I really like the hands free calling and being able to use my iPhone for my music.

GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE, GREAT SOUND AND COMPATIBILITY WITH IPOD!! ALSO BLUETOOTH WORKS GREAT WITH MY IPHONE, NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW.

  • Is there a video that shows how to do a firmware update?

  • 1 question....is the bluetooth compatibel with all smartphones bluetooth or only with Ipod/Iphon and Ipad? i have a BB and my Ipad bluetooth is not compatibel with it. it's not support it.

  • Hi I'm looking at buying this stereo, but have a question. Can you activate the iPhone's Voice Control system (not Siri, but the one on the 3GS / 4) from this head unit? What I want to be able to do is press a button on the head unit, then say to my iPhone 'Play artist xxxx' and have that music start to play. Thanks.

  • I'm about to this head unit sometime next week. I heard it also has the "TI/Burr-Brown" which increases audio quality. An expert told me that, thanks to this, is even better than the Alpine 126bt in audio quality. But I also want to know if the Bluetooth adapter is completely necesary to recieve and make phone calls or not? Thanks a lot!

  • kd-r820bt installed today, super easy called mama with the bluetooth heard me great said no problems and the mic was near my knees! great head unit with variable color control to keep oem look

  • Why is it that, when using a flash drive, the device plays the tracks in alphabetical order instead of by track number (as if I was listening to a CD)? That's how I want it!

  • just a simple question; is it possible to turn off the clock in the display?

  • Is it possible to use a USB hub on the rear usb port? I plan on having the bluetooth dongle, ipod, and charging cable connected all from the rear of the unit but I am not sure if the bluetooth and ipod will work when a usb hub is attached.

  • @xenosynergy USB hubs aren't supported by the head unit.

  • Someone detailed the flaw on the 815 I mentioned in the following link: web.me.com/kenjidan/jvc/Home.html

  • @DaylightRobberyCA A similar issue was addressed by JVC a while back - you can see the response here at

    jvc-victor.co.jp/english/car/ipod/pdf/iOS4_device_problems.pdf

Also, there is some information regarding compatibility with various Apple devices located here -

  • @jvccaraudio Thanks. As it turns out, I tried to replicate the error and was unable to. It must have been addressed by the time my unit was made.

  • How much hardware/firmware commonality is there between the R820 and the A815? Users have confirmed a "micro-stutter" flaw with all 815's regarding rear-usb connected iPods.

If the problematic segment of hardware or firmware in the 815 is the same as that in the 820 I just bought, I will be asking for my money back.

  • do a video on how to install this in my ford explorer 2003. I just got mine (JVC KD-R820BT) in the mail.. -____-

  • @moddkilla I don't have a video, but here's a website: chowder.bandrox(dot)org/?p=96

  • You said this player allows for music streaming via Bluetooth, but will it control a player as well via Bluetooth and show what you're playing, or just play the sound?

  • @SpeedFreakNO The KD-R820BT supports AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) which means the KD-R820BT will be able to control basic playback features, such as - Play/Pause, Track/Folder Select, Fast Forward/Reverse, Skip Next/Previous and Random/Repeat on Bluetooth enabled phones and audio players that also support the profile.

  • Thanks for the reply, I guess I'm still a little confused. Are you saying I don't need to plug in the BTA-100 in order to connect the R820BT with a bluetooth device? If so, what exactly is the purpose of the BTA-100?

  • @JoeSoma - You do not need the BTA-100 with the KD-R820BT, just the included dongle. The BTA-100 is for 'Bluetooth Ready' receivers like the KD-R620 which don't have all the functionality of your receiver. You can find out more at mobile.jvc.com/bluetooth.jsp

  • So if I want to use Bluetooth I have to sacrifice one of the usb inputs? That's not quite "built in" Bluetooth. First you tout having two usb inputs and then you take one away. Am I missing something?

  • @JoeSoma - You are correct, the included Bluetooth antenna dongle does occupy one of the USB ports, however the KD-R820BT doesn't require the separate BTA-100 Bluetooth adapter, it has that functionality built in to the unit.
