I never get tired of listening to your stuff, can you post "I've Never Been This Homesick Before" By Dottie Rambo....your style reminds me of being home at Full Gospel Church!
Thank you very much :) Anthony was a good friend of mine...Met Anthony back in 1989 in Bakersfield when he was playing with the Kingsmen... The quartet that I was playing with at the time actually got to open up for them... That was awesome.. Anthony was an amazing pianist and a great friend...
Hey man could you do me a huge favor?? Im having trouble with the wierd section that starts where the lyrics say "now dont you weep for me when im gone" that whole spot, i cant seem to figure out the chords. If you could send em to me or somethin in the key your in or in Bb if you could poosibly do it? it would be greatly appreciated! Oh and i enjoyed your as well, maybe i can get mine to sound half that good!! 5 stars *****
This is awesome! I love your style. It reminds me of a Southern Gospel piano player who I love to listen to. He has that same classical style to all of his songs.
nice! yes the piano is out of tune, but i kind of like that "honky-tonk" sound with your version. very nice! check out my version. i do anthony burger's version with a little originality in it.
Hey, I liked it. Not studio polished, but good! Your arrangement is much like "PianoFisthermanGuy" 's. Look at Stan Whitmire's arrangement under Mark Lowry's posts. VERY different version.
Hello, fellow piano player here. Hey! Just wanted to say you do a great job. Love the old songs like this. It is a lot of fun to play songs like this. I agree, rules fly out the window when you have talent. You obviously have that. I'm 35 and love the old songs. Hope you post more. One day maybe I'll get the nerve to post something!
WOW!!! That was amazing. Do you have the music for this? Obviously you probably would but i've been looking everywhere for this song!! That's some pretty sick piano playing.
Yeah you are right. You are supposed to play what is comfortable and unique to your own style. But to try and avoid the scientifics of acoustics, when you separate the hands and especially when you play thick chords in the lower octaves then your overtones tend to really overlap each other and give a really dissonant sound. But thats beside the point. You are supposed to be unique
nice. it was pretty good. I've done this song several times. It's a lot of fun to play. If I was going to make any suggestions, I'd say to clean up your right hand. Also it is a general rule of thumb that when your right hand moves up the keyboard, your left hand needs to follow, keeping the hands closer together. But really nice job. :)

Could you explain a lil bit about the run you play at about 17 second into the video working your way down? Thanks!
JMGpiano9 1 year ago
@JMGpiano9 It's an Eb6 chord coming down, but I do an arpeggio down for each note of the chord instead of coming straight down.

Some history - song first perf-rec by Hovie Lister & Statemen Quartet in mid '50's.
original song was hill country (B4 bluegrass) banjo tune titled "Chicken".
Many early quartets took "popular" music, changed some tabs, changed words, and made gospel songs which became very popular.
Your musical phrasing is great!
