  • Jolie vidéo !

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO..

  • 3 viewers have two left feet

  • great job with the editing! FUN to watch! Wish I could dance like that!

  • Looks like a lot of fun!

  • This looks SO fun!!!

  • @RetroZombieee This IS fun! Ever try it?

  • @ginnyawe Unfortunately, no. I reaally want to though. If I ever tried to do this without training or something, I'd probably break my ankle haha!

  • @RetroZombieee Well, you should maybe take a class...it really is so much fun. You might like it! =)

  • It's not Traffic Jam, it's the last part of Lady Be Good

  • Why doesn't the lady with long hair wear a dress?? If you want to be 1930s, put on a dress and get rid of that dumb '80s hair.

  • @kiddo78mn Not everybody dresses period when they go out social dancing, that's mainly just for exhibitions and competitions. It's about having fun and being comfortable.

  • And to think all these people started at the very bottom with the basics and look at them after a few years. See there is hope for everyone :)

  • Traffic Jam by Artie Shaw

  • Fantastic video. Any ideas what the track playing at two minutes is?

  • Nice edit.

  • Wow!..Now those kool kats were really swinging back then with that crazy jive!

  • triple swing is just like eat coast swing, there's just more steps involved to make it interesting for those really slow songs that don't have much beat... (rock, step, triple step, triple step,...) it doesn't seem to be popular here on youtube... but a small vid of the jitterbug style of the dance is here, just type "Triple Step Jitterbug Basic" in the search

  • nice vid... it's a good preview of what I'm soon to learn... I've learned East Coast Swing, Triple Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, and now it's Shag's turn

  • wow... this must have taken a long time!

    which one do you prefer?

i'm lerning lindy hop at the moment (since a half year now).

  • Well, once I learn more on the Shag dance, I thin that one will be my favorite... right now I already know the 2 basic dance moves to shag, I just haven't tried it with a partner yet, but since winter is over and my dance partner usually goes travelling in the summer, I'll probably not be able to learn much more till next Fall. Lindy Hop is really fun too if you know the dance fluently. And some of Charleston dance moves are really hard to coordinate your feet to, but looks really cool.

  • reaperman: You do realize that some of this "black and white" footage is actually modern video (ie- this century) with a sepia tone filter, right?

  • Sorry no comparision from the 30's/40's. Even with Lindy videos. The dances have been forgot, they've been being taught slower and more ballroomy, need to bring back the original styles, so much more fun and impressive.

  • why oh why cant we dance like this now!!! i love this stuff

  • There's a bug different between filmed professionals and social dancing, but even today there are MANY dancers with the same level expertise... you just don't see it on the social dance floor.

  • *big* difference, that is.

Even back then social dancers weren't as good as what you see on film.

  • aahh *drools on floor* must learn this.

  • Artie Shaw's Traffic Jam. Yes!

Untill today I had not seen any of this.

You Tube the greatest and the folks who take so much of their time to post this great stuff, Thanks and Kudos to ya.

  • This is THE way to dance. . .

  • I'm addicted to this great video! I can't find the Artie Shaw song "Double Mellow". Anyone know where to get it?

  • It is volume III of "live in 1938-39"

on the phontastic label( A radio broadcast

performance from the nbc program called

"Melody and Madness"). The tune is based on

a riff from his recording of "Lady Be Good".

  • Thanks very much! That explains the similarity of "Lady Be Good."

  • any place to dance collegiate in LA?

  • and at...2:02, check it out

  • I love that second/fourth couple. Oh man.

  • Great Compelation video of PURE SHAG!!
