  • Why do i feel i'm looking at the future of interactive video games here?

  • what about go up the ladder or go down the hill? this sphere can't stimulate that kind of feeling.

  • i tink its fake because

    there Always

needs to be a this is fake

    comment

  • I think there making a big mistake putting the person in the sphere rather then on top of it. If you look at the mechanics of the real world, hoisting someone up over the sphere and having that person run on it like a round tredmill would allow for better range of motion with the rest of there body. Not to mention. Imagine being in a full run in this contraption and trying to stop on a dime. Makes playing FPS Games very hard. Run, Jump, Dodge,Clime.

  • how well does this deal with porn?

  • Well, it's been 5 years, when can I own one?

  • Ha, Had a concept of this ages ago, turns out it works :)

  • Amazing! i must play it

  • Concept of an future Virtusphere - The ball is not big enough to move in.. bigger ball will make it more natural to move around inside of it. An the ball is going to be small screens how form a picture all around the gamer. Just an idea

  • i could just see 1 of these in an amusement park or arcade =D

  • lol that looks so gay.

  • Or you could make an omnidirectional treadmill... but a giant hamster ball is fine too.

  • only thing new year is the hamster ball.

  • Okay guys, if the 216 people that like this video will all pitch in, we can buy it for only about $1.4 billion each!

  • @champayne17

    its only 50,000 to 100,000 $

  • @champayne17

Or, if everyone who watches this video chips in, we can buy it for the low price of $140,000 each!

  • @epicness576 Good math work! Contact everyone who watched this video.

  • @champayne17

Say goodbye to your life savings!

  • @epicness576 Psht. Who needs those?

  • @champayne17 Nobody! It's totally worth it, plus the Virtusphere comes with the awesome FPS shown in the video! Who doesn't like a shooter with no enemies and oddly floating powerups?

  • inquietant

  • why not try a moving floor instead of a sphere? dunno what its called but the floor can move any direction and the person on the floor does not move at all. exactly like the sphere but minus the big steel ball.

  • @stigg46 its call like an omni-directional tredmel. the steel ball is an easier choice. the tredmel needs lots of moving parts it takes a whole enginering team to maintain that. But steel ball is well A steel ball. to look up more try cross checking "omni-directional tredmel" with "germany" and "university". you should be able to find something bout the vid i just saw

  • This would be fun for a FPS if you have a right controller for games like Halo, Counter Strike, TF2, Unreal, COD and such or RPG games like the Elderscrolls and Fallout games.

  • interesting technology but i cannot keep myself from the laughs at how ridiculous he shows in that sphere...LOL like a hamster running in a wheel!

If i am to run all hundreds of kilometers of far cry 2, then i would prefer from my sitting char with my traditional mouse and keyboard ;)

  • bubble-boy 2.0?

  • Virtual reality rulezz, 3d tv are rubbish

  • @ematech combine this with 3d and you get something AWESOME btw if you say 3d sucks wait a few years then watch 3d porn and will see

  • cool cool cool old skool

  • CAN I PLAY MINECRAFT WITH THIS THING?

  • @dahdoggfather :D omg

  • If you look in my faves you can see how Kinect take your full body and combines it with VR to make a superb Virtual you in a virtual world traking all moves. Now if you make something small that lets you walk and add 3D to the mix ...you are in the game.

  • @RabbitBlade and add an interactive system then you are in (like a virtual gun with real recoil that pushes you)

  • now all we have to do is put this on ps3...

  • CES 2011: Sony 3D Head Mounted Display OLED

  • in the future, video games will be seen as something to get you in shape....call of duty virtual warfare

  • @DesertSmeagle I pray to God, that Call Of Duty will not be around then.

  • would improve if u actuall feel like ur getting shot. ppl headshot u and u can feel it. no pain no game. literally.

  • @rave208 On a show called "Pop Science of the Future" they were showing a vest for FPS, where pockets would inflate with air very suddenly wherever you got shot, simulating the impact. Though you definitely wouldn't want it to the head, it might give you a concussion. But video games do need to become more tactile. They need to include more senses than just vision and sound, they need to be immersive. We need virtual reality :D

  • imagine final fastasy played like this...that'll be epic

  • Put this on the market and I will gladly have a giant blue sphere in my living room. I don't care what anyone says!

  • It would be awesome to somehow hook it up to the computer and use this in the sims games

  • @SneakerNightVanessaH you mean, life?

  • uhh lets load up some cs o_O

  • if it moved more freely. or just a mat. so you could do rolls and run and jumps. really cool.

  • where cna i get 1 lol i want 1 no joke!

  • wow. I really hope that this is the future of video games. I hate sitting on the couch looking at a screen. I would much rather it be physical and immersive.

  • damn why dont you just go play paintball or someling lawlz

  • They should really make something like this but make it so you're in a cartoon of some sort.

  • doing that was so fun

  • is it just me or do the graphics look kind of sucky

  • imagine gta 4 on that holy fuck!!!!

  • they are missing a few things. one, they should have combined the use of the sphere with motion capture technology to give more functionality to the character inside the game...for some reason the sphere has a 6-axis-like control scheme and people in real life dont angle their bodies 45 degrees while walking. but with a few touch ups this could be the next generation of gaming.

  • If they could just find a way to stop your eyes from bleeding after ten minutes, this would be incredible!

  • It's probably expensive as hell.

  • @Redlightning7 45000 dollars

  • @jessinlord Didn't it used to cost like $100,000

It's only a matter of time before this becomes affordable. :XD

  • its like a giant hamster wheel

  • Jack Thompson is gonna be pissed

  • I must say that I think the most logical solution to virtual reality is to have a room of a specific dimensions that changes as you move through the environment, and just have the helmet linked to the room so that it changes to fit what is programed into the helmet. It's far from perfect and probably less practical but far more reasonable as at that point you could actually climb and jump. Just my two cents.

  • ahhh they finally solved that 3D treadmill problem with a sphere! that definitely works better...

  • I want one. Call of Duty would be soo much awsomer!!!

  • @XxJm3nDxX it would go from shit to semi okay fucking terrible game I GOT 25 KILLS SO I CAN NUKE SHIT ROFLPWN

  • I WANT ONE!!

  • wii 2 is leaked. lol

  • i have always wanted somthing like this to come its realy cool

  • imagine this with next gen graphics, surround sound, and a horror game.

holy shit that would be the best horror ever

  • Iv got a 500 pound hampster this will keep that sob entertained for hours.

  • Yo creo que el futuro va por otro lado, precisamente por el tema del espacio. Buscad "cyberwalk"

  • I seen this on the movie "First Kid" with Sinbad :-)

  • I wana play WoW on this thing

  • i wanna play moder warfare 2 on this thing! WOOT!

  • Combat Arms... :D

  • and if u trip?

  • the mass of the ball makes it look awkward, anyone wanna roll an ankle?

  • @Endolaylith it would have to big enough that it would seem flat...sort of like how the earth is. - it's big enough that we think it's flat, thus allowing us to run around without it being weird, lol

  • i want it!

  • hopefully OLED's will make decent headsets a reality

  • the telephone was the very first virtual reality machine

  • this sucks LOL XD. i would buy a fucking car ha ha ha ha ha

  • LOL, I can just see a jerk-friend locking you in there and rolling it himself. =P

  • I thought about that, but remembered those are actually rocket-packs.

    Haha I love semantics :P

  • As soon as we have the ability to create worlds of our own we will make sure that you can go around with a gun and kill people in them.

  • In 30 years time people will be laughing at how primitive and impractical this is, by then nanomachines will be able to suppress the neuronal connections coming from our eyes, ears, skin etc and replace them with virtual projections. We wont need to move because the nurons which control movement will be redirected. That will be real full immersion VR.

  • Hehe I wouldn't say 30 years.

30 years ago we thought we would have jetpacks by now.

  • Maybe you're right. Im quoting Ray kurzweil who sets that date. He argues from the perspective of exponential growth.

  • We also thought we would be flying in hover cars.

  • It would be awesome to play gta with this

  • Its obvious this isnt applicable in normal households. However, I very much see this being in places like arcades. Or even have their own type of industry. Just like we have movie theaters, we could have SphereRooms or something.

  • Arcades would be awesome, I would actually go there to play. But imagine a huge Line of people waiting to play. Then you play for like 3 - 5 min and you have to get out and line up again -.-

  • impossible for people living in apartment.

but, this is what I've really wanted FPS to be.good job!

  • @hawkwind2002 well... you can't jump or climb surfaces... so its not perfect

  • @Bluedrake42 well you could jump if the sphere had weight sensors...

  • @megaemad I mean like jump and grab on to stuff... essentially... this isn't like real life... yet...

  • @Bluedrake42 yep

  • @hawkwind2002 its only for amusement parks

  • @hawkwind2002 In 50 years (I really have no idea about this number) this could be you apartment - or should i say 10x10 beach front Spanish villa with 15 miles of prvt beach?

  • @James92802 I'd say 5 years they will cost the price of a treadmill.

  • This is awesome, but I don't think there will be much of a market for something so huge.

  • imagine how porn would like!...

  • O_O holy shit porn with this ..........

  • guy's This was just on shark tank and the creators said this is standing ona platform all it does is roll in one spot IT CAN"T MOVE!!! It tilts alittle can't get used to that

  • just use a full body suit that has sensor that track body movement, it would be better than being in a hamsterball... not the best idea, thanks but no thanks...

  • @Jshaw71 If you have unlimited space in your room then that is a viable solution.

  • i think either idea is not viable idea, for in game movement, maybe just use a control stick, instead of any walking...

  • Then it wouldn't be full body immersion, dumbshit.

  • full immersion is overrated imo

  • Are you really this retarded? With a full body immersion system, a developer could make a fully realistic first person shooter.

You're just trying to avoid that fact that you KNOW you're wrong that a full body suit is the stupidest idea for full body immersion.

  • maybe a full body suit is a bad idea, and this hamster ball isn't? a full immersion vr exp, no matter the idea way it's done , is not possible and all that hardware for just a fps? no thanks, if one is made, it would be a fps game that has no end, with platoons of soldiers, battalions on vechiles, and sqaudrons of air support over a mile long area, for just one level but that's just me i would rather see a huge medevil game just as big, and teaming with just as many enemies skill and spell trees

  • World of Wartard.

You obviously have no idea how amazing this would be.

  • well, i have no idea no, but instead of a wow type game, i was thinking more along the lines of oblivion, or dnd, but whatever, make your lil jokes

  • @Jshaw71 You're right. Something like Oblivion on this thing would be stunning.

  • the future of gaming has arrived !

  • 99.99 i was curios of that:D

  • closets? LOL

  • I knew it!!

Hamsters would one day take over the world!!

    "Ahhhr...get me outta this ball!!!"

  • on the nintendo helmet i want to know how to use the jumpball

  • ehehe finally ppl who play video games wont get fat cuz they run around all the time.

  • @HeeDaarHoi yah im the fattest guy in my class i think

  • What is the artist/title of this song!? (ultra desperate to know what it is)

  • The sphere is outdated..now you can get an omni directional treadmill.

  • This is pretty cool but the guy seems to be sort of losing his balance alot. Not good for FPS games

  • I want to know if the helmet the user wear has a screen display inside it. Does someone know?

  • Probably.

  • @korth66 obviously how else would he see?

  • Thanks for your answer, because I really didn't know how it works.

  • @korth66 lol ya i know what you mean. Kind of a useless design.

  • Cool stuff, I have a much more consumer style VR setup :) Check mine out in my vids

You can play halo or fallout or any pc game with it, I played it with morrowind for a demo.

  • Check out Pete's fake setup, if you're bored and want to see some fake VR.

  • mines real :)

  • It'd be cool to play Halo 1-3, plus Halo ODST

  • i know man, but you can, they said they can make it compatible for any game/game system. halo 3 or modernwarefare 2 would be soooo kickass on it.

  • mad.

Why cant any one see that the ideas portrayed in the matrix are possible?

We're all going to be plugged in.

The internet IS the primitive un-evolved version of the matrix, that we're all so addicted to.

  • What about jogging inside in some natural nice setting like a beach or a forest

  • nice concept but garbage game

  • I was in this thing. It's so freakin hard to walk in it at first.

  • This would be awsome with Cod modern warfare 2

  • imagine not only playing games.but being in them...this wud be the world's greatest mmorpg .imagine it hooked to warcraft...

  • I gotta say, The world would probably end. People would go insane and do nothing but play it, BUT MAN WOULD IT BE FUN!!!

  • @Khoney1 at least the world would end with people who are in shape insted of fat and usless

  • @shalashaska91 True that man. Maybe it would get the fat lazy people off their asses for a change

  • yea imagine that XD well atleast people would have to walk a bit to get anywhere and possibly get some exercise hehe

  • i cant believe in this day and age, soemone would ACTUALLY call something a Virtusphere... ahahaha.. 1984 called and wanted it's cliche naming system back.

  • True immersion will be accomplished with nanobots that overrride our natural sensory impulses. Our physical body will be "asleep", essentially, motionless, while our mind is in an alternate reality being fed sensory data by the nanobots in our body. At any time we could shut off the artificial sensory data to re-engage the real physical body. This would be true immersion.

  • And when do you think that will happen? Hopefully before we die.

  • that would also be extremely dangerous guko

  • Yeah but we're going to have to deal with this crap. That is what our fucking teenage kids are gonna have. I'm definitely not going to let them play :D

  • This with the project natal of xbox.

    Would be cool

  • I believe the only way we will be able to go "full virtual" is within the brain. Where our "third eye" will be replaced by what is rendered. We can only do so much with mechanical devices...as seen in this video. A HUGE ball just to simulate walking...let alone all the other aspects of being virtual.

  • this is great! rumor has it it'll be out in at least 10 years :3 on;y downside is if you run to much and then stop the ball will keep spining

  • The "in-game" footage thats being played is TOTALLY not accurate with the person in the sphere....

Besides I dont even think he can move fast enough through the ball to go that fast in a game..

    ~Jkun~

  • there is video and other types of lag. and just because the ball is moving slower doesn't mean anything there are things like changing sensitivities on things.. like your cursor for instance.. you can make it move same speed you move the mouse or 2x as fast

  • @pc617

I still don't classify this as "Virtual Reality" though.

Even if what you say is true, don't you think its funny how he makes a full 180 without turning around or anything inside the ball?

I mean...it would be a ball for a reason... "To be able to move in all directions"

And what about the strafing. All he does is walk forward slowly inside it...Sorry but I don't buy the excuse of "lag"

if it was video lag, he would have turned around inside the ball at some point.

    ~Jkun~

  • The graphics certainly don't look "real-life". Everything still looks pixelated. Hopefully Moore's Law will take care of that within 10-15 years.

Google "The day you discard your body" for an interesting possibility into where virtual reality may go.

  • It'll be sooner.

  • The graphics aren't the point. Although I don't find this idea that impressive anyway.

  • Give me a cheap enough version of this for Super Monkey Ball and I can die happy.

  • This would be awesome, the only downside is that someone could come and like spin the sphere while you're in it.

  • imagine playing quake with this, you'd bunny hop so much your sphere would break and the game would get all, jerky and ugh.

  • imagine the progress this stuff will have made in 10 years time, wow.

  • Hardly "reality" when the replication is of a poorly rendered Goldeneye clone, with floating weapons.

  • Lol, instead being called a nerd, it would bring a whole new meaning to the word "hamsterboy".

  • cant wait till they perfect this and sell it commercially, call of duty would b bomb

  • Imagine Resident Evil or Halo!

  • hella ya! im sick of just sitting around playing games, i wanna play in the game

  • i dont think that sphere would fit in my room

  • Omg is that that "Cube" game?

  • No. You are in a bubble and then you walk around like in real life. But you are inside the game. Any game you want.

    Battlefield

    Counter Strike ( lol )

  • lol no no i meant as in the game that they're testing it on ^_^ cube is a really bad fps game

  • i want sumthin where u can do more than just move and walk like use anything in the enviorment like a gta virtual reality helment

  • hmm... a better aproach is to have somthing like a mini tredmil that can go enyways like a full 360 up down left right mid left...12 Oclock ..12:36...O_O

  • no thats stupid

  • Dont knock it til you try it nubcacke!

  • i dont like how the crosshair is fixed at the center of the screen.

  • neither do I. They need to fix it so the aim is seperated from the view. Sort of how you play wii shooters with the nunchuk and the wiimote.

  • yeah exactly. they should take wii's remote and modify it for this thing

  • I play video games because my fat ass cant run up and down hills like when I was young in the Army. Why would I want to play an FPS in a hamster ball?

  • people play games to immerse themselves in another world, this will greatly enhance the feeling of being "part of the action".

  • They should put these in popular arcades

4 Virtuspheres per arcade would be niiiice
