@ cinc50 I was looking for the unplugged version too! l heard it recently and was reminded of how much l used to love this song. plus l think the unplugged version just sounds so powerful.
@clnc50 yeah i was just looking for it too and was disappointed not to find it. i was going to play it for my boyfriend who hadn't heard that version yet. he's only heard the Patti Smith version.
But diverrboy, though I know that you are one of the real NM specialists around, I would ask you to listen VERY CLOSELY again! In my opinion this is NOT our favorite singer/songwriter at all. It may be a pretty good cover, but that voice is much too sweet, and is lacking the depth, the timbre and the trumpetlike quality of Natalie´s, anytime during her carreer. Greetings from Germany.
are you THEE diverboy or just some good time charlie pretending to be the diverboy? i hope you can explain yourself. the diverboy was said to be dead. WHO IN THE HELL ARE YOU!!!
it was mp3 sent to me and it said 2007, but who knows. how do you think her voice has changed? i would say that she is more nuanced and polished then in the past but that her voice isn't quite as strong as it used to be. i don't think she can raise really raise her voice and project like she used to.
@theMETALDOVE hey :) trust me, as a fan that's been collecting work for many years and have seen her over 30 times, this is a much younger version of this song....2007, no. i think her voice is stronger as she gets older.
@theMETALDOVE Mostly, her voice doesn't hit the higher notes like it did. She has a brassier quality to it, now. It's still fine. She's amazing. Hell, she holds up a lot better than Joni Mitchell's voice did. Consider that Natalie joined 10,000 Maniacs in 1981. That's 31 years as a big-time professional vocalist. Just because I can spot the change in her voice doesn't mean that I'm not deeply in love with it now.
Viacom pulled the MTV Unplugged version. Scumbags. Now I'm BOYCOTTING Viacom.
That was a fantastic video.

Was hoping to find her MTV unplugged version, but so far no luck. Love her and her music. And she just gets better as the years go by.
