when i first heard this song when I was 14, way back in 2003, I didnt get it as much as I of course do now. But I do feel it led me to be a little more destructive towards relationships, just constantly listening to music like this. Which is a small price to pay in my eyes honestly haha. Still such a great album
Verse part has a similar blues chord progression and melody as Bob Dylan's desolation row, i dont know thats what it reminded me of, great bright eyes song.
And it makes it all the more powerful for me, because the bitch's favorite band was Bright Eyes, and Conor Oberst was the last concert we went to together.
I am a singer songwriter and many people have compared me to Conor Oberst - he is my favorite songwriter ever and his lyrics inspire me to write all of my songs.
If you are a fan of Conor Oberst's lyrics, please check out my songs - you might be surprised. My newest song "Here We Go Again" is the first video on my channel :) I also have a "Lua" cover.

I can't get over the "recorded in a basement" style these are done in. A very unique sound.

It is very interesting how much more meaningful this song becomes after someone you love totally and completely fucks you. Life is fun.
