ok, so I extracted my information to the DCIM folder but it's not popping up onto my sidekick 08 under Themes. How do you make themes pop up?

you gotta make a folder named themes and then put your theme into it and it should work. well thats what i did

and go to your Downloads on your comp.

and go 2 where the themes are that you just downloaded and right click and extract to ~~~ Computer ~ (name of memory card) ~ Themes

and it should work

key guards don't load automatically, you have to copy the JPG images to the DCIM folder on the sdcard and select them from key guard & security settings.

if u mean for the hinge sounds i just converted the sound file to wma, it made it alot smaller

if its still too big then u probably just need to make the sound shorter

it has to be 100kb or less because the OS has a file size limitation, you can make the sounds smaller size by using lower quality mp3s, I usually use 56kbps 22500Hz and that allows me to make a clip of up to 8-13 secs. If you use lower quality then that, you should be able to make sounds of up to 40 secs long but if you are making shorter sounds like 1-3 secs stick to using higher quality formats as they'll sound much better.

KG = Key Guard, it displays when the phone is locked,

BG1 = Main background where you see phone, catalog, IM, Games etc..

BG2 = Secondary background for extended options for example if you select IM on Bg1, you'll see AIM, Yahoo, and MSN on Bg2.

BG1 is background for main screen, BG2 is sub screen... KG is for keyguard.. the rest are obvious, IM, SMS, PIM, Bubbles, etc.. LG is for large, SM is for small, zoom effects are 2 for in and 2 for out...

you can get a free 30 day trial from adobe-dot-com but after the 30 days you have to purchase it. An alternative would be to get Gimp which is free and can do most of the things Photoshop can.. Get it it FREE @ gimp-dot-org

Key guard is the image displayed when your phone is on idle, you can see your current kg by holding the back(arrow) button on the Sidekick.

it never changes with the theme. i have to select a pic i have on my phone. could also be cuz i have the 2008

The problem is that the key guard can no longer be loaded automatically, so when themes say that they include key guards that means it brings an image to replace the key guard but you have to do it manually. If you want to use the key guard with a theme, all you have to do is open the theme's folder and look for the key guard, on my themes is always the only "JPEG" file (All the other files are PNG) and copy it to your DCIM folder then you'll be able to select it from your pics and set it as kg.

If you have loaded other themes successfully before then you prob have something wrong in your theme.txt file. Otherwise double check and make sure the theme is in your "Themes" folder. The Themes folder should be in the root of your memory card with your "DCIM" folder. Also you can't load themes with the phone connected to the computer.

you need to use a transparent phone splash image then add this string to your theme.txt file:

bitmap chooser-phone-splash-screen phonesplash.png

replace "phonepslash.png" with your transparent image file name.

Are you opening the theme.txt file straight from the zip file? extract the files before you edit them, I cant think of any other reason why that would happen.

It depends, If you're going to use icons or not, if you're not using icons just delete the files and the default will be loaded otherwise, yes is the same process, only ones you erase like the phone splash are the ones you dont want to come out at all, example:

you can have transparent foldec, bubbles and zoom effects if you want a cleaner wallpaper but there wouldn't be any point in having transparent icons tho...

Make sure the image is in RGB Color mode..

It doesn't matter where you save the template at or what OS you're using, it is just a template ... use it as a preset folder, a starting point for making your themes so that you don't have to make a new folder every time you going to make a new theme. Duplicate the contents of the folder and replace the duplicate's content with your own content then watch my video on how to put themes on a sidekick if you don't know how to do it.
