Occupy Wall Street wants the government to be able to steal money from the taxpayers, but to give this money to them and their pet causes rather than to the big banks.
Join the Tea Party, which fights for liberty and limited government. America grew strong and prosperous due to its people having property rights, freedom, and opportunity, not a government that picked losers and winners or stole from the productive to give to the unproductive.
Normally I find NWA take on American politics to be pretty astute. I think in this case they are missing the mark a little. OWS is disjointed to be sure. But its the undercurrent thats producing the protest. Left or Right most Americans are losing ground and they sense a level of injustice at the bailouts of the banks. I think thats whats generating support for OWS.
@ClearSmashDrop but what's the demand though... how will anyone satisfy occupy wallstreet movement... seems like they're just out there enjoying themselves. Propose a good idea please!
@Melki: I think OWS is more about changing the entire system. But if you want some specific things that need to be done here are a few suggestions from me.
1. Reinstate Glass-Steagall
2. Force all banks to mark their assets to market. This means repealing FAS157
3. No more tax funded bailouts of instituations that are failing. Let them go thru bankruptsy.
It's pitiful that the human race can be so greedy and selfish. The Fat Cats have accommodated all the money that they say is for the company and therefore for you. The people who think that are fools! Operation #occupywallstreet will hit the economy hard for it will also happen in Greece and other countries worldwide that have been infected by this, Disease. We are doing this because the Fatcats now control our internet, our ocean. This will not be tolerated...
I was going to say great unbiased reporting as usual NMA, but the "Tea Party of the left" comment doesn't make sense to me at the end. Why is this considered only 'lefties' protesting? Aren't they protesting the government and economic system that is propped up by both 'sides' of the political spectrum? FOX NEWS did the whole "everyone protesting is left-wing" and I didn't get it then either.
This beats the Tea Party. These guys don't just focus on government oppression, they focus on ALL oppression. Social, Corporate and State. Freedom can be threatened from many places, this is something neither Ron Paul nor the Tea Party understands.
No, the problem with these protests are that they are expecting government to fix these problems. The economic collapse would have never happened if the government didn't promise the banks that they would bail them out if they took risky loans. If they stayed out of the housing market, the banks would have never acted irresponsibly, and it seems that almost none of these protesters realize this.
Protesting rich people doesn't get to the root of all our problems.
@EliteKiller07 They don't expect the government to do anything. If they did, they wouldn't be trying to occupy wallstreet, they'd be sitting outside washington (cough *Tea Party* cough). What they realise is that the government isn't going to do a goddam thing to help them. They need to take things into their own hands. Here's hoping this sparks a larger social movement (It probably won't) that'll generate fundamental change from below.
There *goal* is to get government to do things. They want higher taxes and a plethora of regulations. While I think they are doing these things in good intentions, they still just don't understand the root cause of our problems that have much easier solutions
Here's a protest I would support: protest the government and the Federal Reserve with the objective of ending all government bailouts, subsidies, and deals with private business
Not gonna lie, starving Africans does make their "we are the 99%" slogan look pretty silly. But I don't think the whole "someone else in the world has it worse then you, so man the fuck up" is a very good argument.
It'd be like if you told a severe paraplegic to stop whining and be grateful that they aren't dead. It just gets a little redundant down the line.
@NyxRedvines Not at all, I'm saying it makes their SLOGAN look silly. Half the people who joined the protest after seeing it on their iPhones (or on the internet normally) probably aren't part of "the 99%".
@Frohstar all you OWS idiots want is free handouts. Just because someone is richer than you doesn't mean you you should get any of his money because you're just a parasitic lazy asshole, but that doesn't get redundant down the line huh?
@lonewolfM16 Oh i would LOVE to walk to school on the new road, just watch out for the LANDMINES and CARPET BOMBINGS! Have a nice day and don't call your teddybear Muhammad.
@Pikazilla on the plus side you are now allowed to go to school even if you are a women and you can no longer be killed for leaveing islam or not wearing "modest" clothes. Afghanistan is now much safer thab when the taliban were in control and also the monthly death rate due to the war is now lower than the murder rate in washington DC I'd say we did well.
@lonewolfM16 Lol...dont be naive. The second the American troops live Afghanistan, Karzai's govt is toast and the Taliban get back in power. It's inevitable. it's only a matter of time
@shotsky94 thats why we dont leave until we have a secure country. The Taliban is severly damaged almost destroyed. We leave Afghanistan with a government cabable of fighting armed extremeists. Not before and not after, when the government is ready.
@lonewolfM16 You say these things like its so easy. The security forces will be no match for the radicals when American troops leave. Many taliban insurgents are probably just in Pakistan waiting for us to leave. It's inevitable man. Plus Iran continues to increase its influence in Afghan. Whichever way you look at it, the West loses.

afghanistan ends america loses islam wins and a new muslim generation joins the jihad
they want more government control of business and healthcare, and yet, that same government is the one handing out bailouts and beating their asses in the street...
@boxant Yep, more power to the people who fucked it all up to begin with. Hopefully the Ron Paul lot can talk a little sense into them and save the movement from falling over it's own fallacies.
The official statement has 23 points OWS protests, 1. Illegal foreclosures 2. CEO's getting bonuses from the Bailout's 3. Discrimination in the workplace 4. poisoned food through negligence (see Food Inc.) 5. Profiting from Animal cruelty 6. Workers negotiation rights being stripped 7. High student tuition fees 8. Outsourcing labor for cheep pay 9. Influencing the courts 10. hiring legal teams to look for health insurance loopholes 11. Selling privacy as a commodity Comment 1/3

hello,
we, The Chimagels are supporters of the occupy we are the 99 percent movement.
So we composed, produced, played a song about it.
You can hear and download the song as often you like on youtube
We guess, it would be helpful to sing this song during demonstrations worldwide.
We guess, a common hymn or Anthem would be helpful for our targets
please click on the URL wearethe99percent1 below
