  • super looking board waves do not look that bad well done

  • so this is just a display base have u thought about making a full table for a bunch of ppl to play on?

  • @drakozero8 I have no place to store a full table. I've made lots of terrain for my local store, but it gets lost/stolen/destroyed very quickly. No way I'm making a full table just so some random careless jerk can ruin it in a week.

  • Fantastic board and a great step by step video to go with it. Good luck.

  • Looks pretty darn cool AKE. I'll have to try the lighter on styro idea - IMO that really worked well on this. Sure, sale of waves may be a bit small but still looks cool.

  • Looks really nice bud

  • I hate the fact that where I live they scarsely have any of the products you used in this video, and when they do, it costs your left arm. I want to improve my army and i cant >;[

  • You can use silicon for the waves as well.

  • BTW, which days are you playing? I'm not gonna have enough time to get prepped for a tourney so I'mma just gonna come down and visit and watch.

  • @SMConsortium Sat and Sun. Armies do not have to be painted for the tourney. Or if you want we can play Friday evening so you can a chance at revenge..... a very small chance. Ooooo! Glove smack to the face!

  • You can get the Pink Foam at Home Depot. At least the last I looked. I hope they didn't discontinued selling it! lol I need to pick up a few large sheets.

  • Excellent vid again about the building you're display board. And some nice tips to! Love to see the vid about the crashing waves.

  • Really impressed by this display board, im due to do another soon so its nice to see your take on them :) The cracks, in particular, look superbly well done - nice effect!

I think you downplayed your mini ocean too much...It looks fantastic! It looks more like the wave is in the middle of a backwash. when I create waves, I like to put a fine layer of modelling snow on the edges (where the water meets the cliff face) as it looks very frothy, as the water does after the wave has hit.

    Thanks! :)

  • @SSTemplar Thanks. I was planning to paint white tips on the waves, but after highlighting with the airbrush I liked the look so left it as-is.

  • Turned out really nice, considering it was your first attempt and what it cost in total. Good luck with the tournament.

  • Doesn't have to be "The pink stuff". Any Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Sheet should do it. They come in diffrent densities but all are better than styrofoam. The color is just branding. Have seen in pink, white, blue and purple.

  • Really good, especially for a first time. The idea you mentioned with the water bottle sounds cool. I might have to try it.

  • The board turned out nice, excellent work sir!

  • Nice work man, for a first time this really beats mine haha. Favor to ask you, could you on your next vid show a close up of the OOP corsair models. On another note keep up the good work the army is looking fantastic.

    Vyerel

  • I live in nor cal and home depot carries the pink stuff.

  • looks great man, nice job

  • Great looking display board! Makes me want to try building one myself.

  • Nice job! Welcome to the world of terrain making!

  • How did you go in the SMA comp? My AT AT got 3rd! Very surprised at that!!

  • @00sven00sven00 Grats! I lost some parts and have yet to finish my Bird of Prey.

  • nicely done :)

if you whant bigger waves you shoul try some clear modeling gel like the one from Reeves. i used that for example at my demon prince with the broken pipeline on his base.

  • @GirlPainting Forgot to mention that. I should of used heavy gel acrylic medium, but I was being cheap and didn't want to spend the $15.

  • @ThePaintingClinic ok, good point ;-)

  • Looks good man. Kinda sucks that pink foam insulation is so hard to find for you. Up here in Canada we got multiple types of the stuff, in various colours (pink and blue being the common ones), and it's as easy to find as 2x4s. Real nice to work with.

Let us know how you do at the tournament!
