I picked one up. It’s nice to keep in the car to jot down phone numbers and stuff. It reminds me of the old storage tube CRT monitor I used to use years ago. Both store the green image on the screen using no RAM, and they both flash to erase the whole image.

This has a lot of potential, but I checked out reviews on Amazon, and apparently the battery isn't replaceable, so after it dies it's a paper weight. It'd still almost be worth $30-50 if I could save everything for at least a few months. I'm a writer and I lose a lot of ideas in spirals and notepads. This would be easy to carry around and I could save everything.

I went to Kent State University in the late 80s and early 90s and they had a LCD research institute there even back then. Cool to see their research paying off.

This is just the Magna Doodle, but with an erase button; it uses a small amount of electricity to create a magnetic field with erases everything you wrote.

40 bucks is not that cheap, it's a good price I think.

By the way this does not work the same way as magna doodle works. Magna doodle uses a magnetic pen to move magnetic liquid. Not sure how this works but can't use magnets because it works with your fingers.

This is pretty awesome. This can lead to things like newspapers that update themselves every day.

I also hate how people think you can compare this to the iPad. You can buy like 10 of these for the same price as the iPad, and it will also have infinitely longer battery life, be much smaller and you can write with an actual pen.

@MetalMonkeyStudios : macs dont have LED screens, they r LCD but have an LED back light, its a common misconception that the screen is LED, but actually the screen is actually and LCD but it just has an LED back light. Most companies dont mention this, just too fool customers.

looks neat but if you can't save notes or erase less than the entire page at this point it seems totally useless. I remember using personal chalkboards and dry erase boards in school and it was mostly gimmicky and unnecessary. Okay class hold up your boards and show your work. We still needed to be able to erase only parts of the board though. Once they produce the ability to save pages and erase with an eraser stylus or something that would be a pretty nice thing to have on the fridge door.
