Donna Murphy looked like she was amazing in this show. Not to knock Beauty and the Beast, but there was so much more to Passion, and she took full advantage of it.
I wish someone would post the video of Donna winning for King and I. That was the year Julie Andrews was nominated for Victor, Victoria and turned it down, but everyone thought they'd give it to her anyway.
The moment comes, they list the actresses up for the award, and the Tony goes to...
Donna Murphy.
The look on her face is the only definition you need for the word "thunderstruck."
As much as I love and adore Susan Egan, Donna Murphy definitely deserved this. Playing Belle, a girl who likes to read and falls in love with a Beast, or playing Fosca, a girl who loves to read and is the Beast. It was definitely Donna's! But no, Passion wasn't one of Sondheim's best, that is for sure. lol

I saw Donna Murphy in "Passion" and it was like watching a bad Carol Burnett sketch with a bad score attached to it. That mole she wore (there were several actually) made her look like something out of The Brothers Grimm. Awful. I love Sondheim but that show was a disaster.
@LexiixoxRoxx Not to sound nasty, but Donna Murphy gave a performance for the ages in far richer material than Beauty and the Beast- not that there's anything wrong with Beauty and the Beast.
I knew she didn't win, but you still kinda hope while you're watching. Lol. Oh, well. Getting nominated is a great achievment in itself. But she'll eventually get one. *fingers crossed* :)
