usually when people have problems with there struts is when they use cut stock springs which will lower the car, but it will cause it to be really soft, and when you hit a bump it will bottom out the struts which can cause them to break. if your buying good lowering springs, they will most likely have the right amount of tension to keep the car from bottoming out the struts. you should be fine.

my coilovers are different. its "adjustable" and comes with two spinny things and spanner wrenches. do i compress the spring using the wrenches to make my ride lower/stiffer? or do i lower the springs and make the ride lower/looser. ultimately, i need to know if i compress or decompress the springs to make my ride lower...

@MexicanMetal2012 like they said, cutting your springs is a bad idea, that, and its illegal. what happens, is if you get even just a little bit of air, just enough for the wheel to come off the ground, you can upset the cut spring, causing it to unseat, and then you will have shitty ride quality or worse from there on in.

A big pipe (lever) doesn't help much when doing shocks. More to do with being able to secure the shock/strut ram so that it doesn't rotate with the top nut. You do that and you are golden.

Be careful using large breaker bars and pipes since you can snap a bolt. Then you really are up the shits creek without a paddle.

Question: How do you know if you are getting a good deal on a car part of if you are buying some cheaply made part whic will fall apart after a year. For instance, you said you got 4 brand new springs for only $150, how did you know that they where well made and fit for purpose for that price?

@MasterTenku $150 for new springs seems about the right price. It's a small car which means less material. springs aren't a very expensive part even if you go with performance springs. Of course they would be more but they wouldn't be way up there either. I can choose between $30 for a set online and have them snap in a day or two. or spend $200 on a set of eibach which would you choose? I would go with the eibach and be happy. doesn't cost a fortune, and they are a good brand.

Hey guys I had a question for you (or anyone else that wants to reply) If your lowering the car with springs why arnt you replacing the stock shocks with aftermarket shocks? Dont the lowering springs make the OEM shock more compressed causing it to fail faster? I though this was a must...maybe im wrong and you dont need to, but arn't you guys worried that your shocks will blow? Thanks

@sk8ter4life11122 As we said in the video "If you are going to change your shocks - now is the time to do it". Would it be better to change to new shocks? Of course it would but shocks are something separate that we'll be covering in another episode. The point is that you do not have do. Some people may have read something different on a forum and I'm sure they'll chime in soon. Get a variety of opinions and as much information as you can then make your own decision about it. Thats what we do.
