What the god-monkeys did to us in alexandria 415ad ...is the difference between watching the starship enterprise on TV, and riding in it in real life. The Abrahamic Faiths have cost us the future. We owe them what Nero tried to do.
Let's also not forget the Muslim destruction of the Nalanda Central Library & University Complex in India. It was the oldest and largest actual university in the ancient world. Its library was in three 9-story buildings, it had dormitories and classrooms for thousands of students and hundreds of teachers. Its tuition was free. The Muslim fanatics beheaded all the students and professors, and burned all the books. It took them three months to wipe out Nalanda University.
The reason why Saladin was spreading the myth that Arabs in the past had destroye the library was because Saladin was attempting to destroy religious Islamic texts that he considered heresy durig medieval times. But to make it seem more acceptable he stated that past great Islamic leaders in their conquest of egypt and even destroyed the great library ( the knowledge from the library was fueling the golden Islamic age at the time).
Are we expected to believe that all of a sudden Greece produces scores of multi geniuses out of the blue? Nothing like this has happened before or since. What explains this anomaly? I have an explanation. The Greek "Scholars" actually specialized in plagiarism! They copied the works the Egyptians accumulated over thousands of years and passed it off as their own. If you look up Greeks they were too prolific and too eclectic. Bunch of phonies stealing credit. Puh-lease!
@TomKaren1994 All anyone needs is common sense. Alexandria was not in Greece. It was in Egypt. Add to that this explosion of knowledge happened when Greece was embroiled in wars AND the scholars were being persecuted by their own people who were scared of knowledge. That's highly unlikely. Besides that, there IS proof.
@SirPaFla you're a very proficient at stretching but no matter how far you stretch it will be "all of a sudden" in comparison to the length of time it took Egypt's (25)dynasties compile the information the Greeks plagiarized. Believe in miracles if you want to, but one part of the world making scores of Einsteins for a few hundred years, and not ever coming close to it again should make anyone wonder. Especially with all the proof of previous discoveries and mastery the Egyptians displayed.
@100waterloo maybe it was because the greek empire controlled the entire world and its knowledge and they were one of very few civilisations that supported the accumulation of knowledge and development of new science. Also not all the 'greek' scientists were greek. Some were Egyptian and other civilisations. Never before or after had all the worlds knowledge been gathered in one place which was a great foundation for developing new science.
@SirPaFla I don't quite understand you. Maybe "what" was because the Greek empire ...? My point is the Greeks are plagiarists and have stolen credit for being the foundation of civilization. The Greeks were not dumb the accumulated and added to knowledge from the Nile valley, Mesopotamia, etc. But they are falsely named the creators of the sciences and the arts. Medicine, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, architecture, etc. were all practices they LEARNED from Egypt.
@SirPaFla that statement contradicts itself and it doesn't make sense anyway. It's the first time I ever heard that argument. They were Greek and Greece is known as the cradle of western civilization. And if they were anything but Ancient Egyptian and took credit for the discovery of the Egyptians work they are plagiarists. I don't see the problem with being truthful at this point in time.
@100waterloo No they weren't all greek. Some of them which worked in Alexandria were belived not to be greek but theres no enscription that specifically says what nationality some of the scientists were. Most of them were greek but others were from all over the world. The fact that all the worlds knowledge was in one place for the first time aided genius.
@SirPaFla Excuse me but I can read. And the people given credit for the creation of pretty much everything are Greek. If you can name people from that era, that aren't Greek and are given credit for establishing an intellectual discipline, have at it. -That fact that all the Nile valley's knowledge was collected and translated aided the illusion of genius.- I am interested in that list of names though.

I think sagan knew the importance of god....but also understood the need for self control....you cant work on theories about how round the earth is or what the sun and stars are and then at night throw all that thought and work away to the acts of gods.
@jackfin Well actually the church was the first organisation to share knowledge through monastic universities throughout Europe. Consider this scienfic knowledge was around for 700 years and nobody (the common man) know about it before the library was destroyed. Which was one of the reasons why the library was destroyed. The people had no idea of its value. Although they were slow to change their neoplatonic ideas in the coming centuries.

So who had written the books of the library?
The aliens? There wasn't scientific research by other nations that period.
The majority of the books had written by Greeks scientists and philosophers. Perhaps you imply that Greeks stole themselves...
