  • It was a cold day in the world of knowledge when Carl left this earth...He will be missed

  • What the god-monkeys did to us in alexandria 415ad ...is the difference between watching the starship enterprise on TV, and riding in it in real life. The Abrahamic Faiths have cost us the future. We owe them what Nero tried to do.

  • Whatever was in that library must have been dangerous knowledge that could undermine the authority of the church and state!

  • Let's also not forget the Muslim destruction of the Nalanda Central Library & University Complex in India. It was the oldest and largest actual university in the ancient world. Its library was in three 9-story buildings, it had dormitories and classrooms for thousands of students and hundreds of teachers. Its tuition was free. The Muslim fanatics beheaded all the students and professors, and burned all the books. It took them three months to wipe out Nalanda University.

  • From below. In fact you can thank Islam for preserving the knowledge of the library of alexandria that the west had destroyed.

  • The reason why Saladin was spreading the myth that Arabs in the past had destroye the library was because Saladin was attempting to destroy religious Islamic texts that he considered heresy durig medieval times. But to make it seem more acceptable he stated that past great Islamic leaders in their conquest of egypt and even destroyed the great library ( the knowledge from the library was fueling the golden Islamic age at the time).

  • Are we expected to believe that all of a sudden Greece produces scores of multi geniuses out of the blue? Nothing like this has happened before or since. What explains this anomaly? I have an explanation. The Greek "Scholars" actually specialized in plagiarism! They copied the works the Egyptians accumulated over thousands of years and passed it off as their own. If you look up Greeks they were too prolific and too eclectic. Bunch of phonies stealing credit. Puh-lease!

  • @100waterloo Let us all know when you get your PhD in ancient history and sociology, and write your thesis. Good luck finding evidence to support it.

  • @TomKaren1994 All anyone needs is common sense. Alexandria was not in Greece. It was in Egypt. Add to that this explosion of knowledge happened when Greece was embroiled in wars AND the scholars were being persecuted by their own people who were scared of knowledge. That's highly unlikely. Besides that, there IS proof.

  • @100waterloo

''All of a sudden'' was a period that stretched the better part of a millenium.

  • @SirPaFla you're a very proficient at stretching but no matter how far you stretch it will be "all of a sudden" in comparison to the length of time it took Egypt's (25)dynasties compile the information the Greeks plagiarized. Believe in miracles if you want to, but one part of the world making scores of Einsteins for a few hundred years, and not ever coming close to it again should make anyone wonder. Especially with all the proof of previous discoveries and mastery the Egyptians displayed.

  • @100waterloo maybe it was because the greek empire controlled the entire world and its knowledge and they were one of very few civilisations that supported the accumulation of knowledge and development of new science. Also not all the 'greek' scientists were greek. Some were Egyptian and other civilisations. Never before or after had all the worlds knowledge been gathered in one place which was a great foundation for developing new science.

  • @SirPaFla I don't quite understand you. Maybe "what" was because the Greek empire ...? My point is the Greeks are plagiarists and have stolen credit for being the foundation of civilization. The Greeks were not dumb the accumulated and added to knowledge from the Nile valley, Mesopotamia, etc. But they are falsely named the creators of the sciences and the arts. Medicine, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, architecture, etc. were all practices they LEARNED from Egypt.

  • @100waterloo And I'm saying that the greek scientists were not all greek. So they didn't plagerise.

  • @SirPaFla that statement contradicts itself and it doesn't make sense anyway. It's the first time I ever heard that argument. They were Greek and Greece is known as the cradle of western civilization. And if they were anything but Ancient Egyptian and took credit for the discovery of the Egyptians work they are plagiarists. I don't see the problem with being truthful at this point in time.

  • @100waterloo No they weren't all greek. Some of them which worked in Alexandria were belived not to be greek but theres no enscription that specifically says what nationality some of the scientists were. Most of them were greek but others were from all over the world. The fact that all the worlds knowledge was in one place for the first time aided genius.

  • @SirPaFla Excuse me but I can read. And the people given credit for the creation of pretty much everything are Greek. If you can name people from that era, that aren't Greek and are given credit for establishing an intellectual discipline, have at it. -That fact that all the Nile valley's knowledge was collected and translated aided the illusion of genius.- I am interested in that list of names though.

  • ..

  • Now I am just SO disappointed in Aristoteles!

  • When will the religious learn we are ALL EQUAIL in the eyes of God.

  • @TheKiemaster

    actiOns ?

  • I would like to view known, I love to watch and listen to videos of the Universe. How sad that no longer exist, but we are human beings and we have to die someday. Quisiera verlo conocido, me encanta ver y escuchar sus videos del universo. Que triste que ya no exista, pero somos seres humanos y algun dia tenemos que morir.

  • Even he admitts the greek stole everything they got. They even said they made up a God to endoctrine into egypts history!

  • You is right , the Greeks stole everything from the Library of Alexandria ;-)

  • This is funny.

So who had written the books of the library?

The aliens? There wasn't scientific research by other nations that period.

The majority of the books had written by Greeks scientists and philosophers. Perhaps you imply that Greeks stole themselves...

  • Re si Stelio Pagida logikhs Sophistikh estisa na poume , sophistikoi elegxoi - Organon - Aristoltelis !

  • den katalava alla afou htan pagida logikhs ok...

  • yep! As Christopher Hitchens say. God is not great and "religion poisons everything"

religion has held back the human race for century's

  • @jackfin

    ..

  • @jackfin Well actually the church was the first organisation to share knowledge through monastic universities throughout Europe. Consider this scienfic knowledge was around for 700 years and nobody (the common man) know about it before the library was destroyed. Which was one of the reasons why the library was destroyed. The people had no idea of its value. Although they were slow to change their neoplatonic ideas in the coming centuries.

  • I am greek-orthodox christian don't lecture me.

Carl Sagan was a great man don't insult the dead.

  • If the romans had not conquer the greek world humanity would have reach the moon earlier.

  • All destroyed by conservative ignorance.

Status quo could not be disrupted.

  • A great loss for humanity...

  • I assume you mean both Sagan and the Library

  • @holdsund4y a great gift to humanity

  • @holdsund4y Islam is to blame. Religion is the ultimate mind fuck.

  • @Treyb3yond and this university was burned by people who wer companions of d prophet mohammad imagine this is d deed of people who lived with him,nd nt only dat muslims burned down academy of gundishapur in persia and took d persian civilisation into darkness wich is 4 d entire world 2 c today, they burned down a dozen hindu nd budddhist universitites in india especially d naland auniversity whr they massacred more than 100000 buddhist monks and hindu teachers along with d students

  • @thescorpionking2020

The library of alexandria was destroyed 100 years before mohammad was born.

  • @SirPaFla the university was burned down at d orders of caliph umar,ur prophet's beloved sahaba, clearly showing what mohammad preached them, genocide and war

  • @thescorpionking2020

There are so many things wrong with this statement.

    1. I'm not Muslim. 2. Islam and Mohammad didn't exist when the library was destroyed. 3. It wasn't a university. Thats the equivalent of saying the Mongols destroyed the Roman Empire despite the fact the Roman empire collapsed centuries before the Mongols reached Europe.. Try reading something called a book since you're you value education so.

  • @SirPaFla man the library was attacked and destroyed many times but d final destruction was carried out at d orders of caliph umar in d year 640 after they conquered egypt,go n read i for urself, obviously i know dat roman and later christian mobs had attacked and burned many works of d library

  • @thescorpionking2020

The library wasn't even around in the 7th century and all the works of the library in the 7th century were being preserved in Saudi Arabia which plunged Europe into the dark ages until the arabic translations of these works were converted into latin which was one of the factors which commensed the renaissance around the 13th to 15th century AD. What you're talknig about was an untrue myth that was spread by Saladin.

  • @SirPaFla look there is credible evidence dat many works of d library at d orders of caliph umar, dats a historic fact, caliph umar also ordered d burning of academy of gundishapur in persia

  • @thescorpionking2020 No it not. Its historic fiction. All historians agree that that never happened. Even look it up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me.

  • @SirPaFla so u mean to say dat gundishapur and alexandria were not burnt at caliph umar's orders?

  • @holdsund4y And yet, he "lives on" in his books and these videos. I never met him but have been inspired by him so many times.

    A great gain for humanity.
