Dual personalities is actually separate from schizophrenia---a dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities). But as you note, that would all be an internal struggle.

I'm not really trying to attack your ideals so much as engender a healthy acceptance of being trans among all transwomen. Superficiality is, indeed, an innate aspect of humanity, I agree; evolution is a slow process but I think we can set the ball rolling towards an eradication of that trait.

I think it's preposterous for any woman to be so concerned with wasting her time and money trying to conform to an everchanging beauty ideal. There are so many more important aspects to consider but us transwomen are, too often, completely consumed by superficial concerns. Facial surgery, breast augmentation, voice surgery, etcetera. Is it really so bad to forego those expenses (which often do not improve our passability much) and simply say with pride "I am a transsexual" with pride?
Oh believe me, I get it. I'm a post-op mtf who has been living full-time for 8 years, nearly 5 years post-op.
My opinion on the evils of superficiality is based on a subscription to the belief that the imposed norm of the eternal quest for beauty all women are inundated with is a double standard. Men do not concern themselves with such trivialities but the most grotesque man, most often, expects women to always look their best. In a world which is so full of strife and volatility...
Oh man, why must we all be so superficial? Fuck appearance. We are transsexuals. Can't change that, just cultivate a sense of pride in yourself that isn't necessarily related to being trans and everything will be great.

check out The Beauty Myth. It will seriously floor you. I had already been an objector to the lofty beauty standards imposed upon women before reading this book but this book will really change your thinking on why women are so concerned with appearance and who is behind it.
Ah feminism is not the sole domain of genetic women :)

as some women can. But that is of little importance because the people I do end up involved with, romantically or otherwise, have more in common with me than just physical attraction. That may be especially poignant to the transwomen out there who feel people (usually men) are only interested in them for sex. What other interest can there be with a Barbie doll you might ask yourself. Don't be Barbie, be the sexy librarian if you must fit a stereotype ;) If you want to read an amazing book..

began to concentrate on enjoying life instead. Sure I get stared at by people or people ask stupid questions but that's the life of an unusual person and it wouldn't likely be different if I HAD gotten all those surgeries. Instead of worrying about what teenagers think of me, I spend my time pursuing my athletic and academic interests and have begun to interact with people as cisgendered people do, based on what's beneath the surface. I'm not really trying to attack your ideals so much as engender a healthy acceptance of being trans among all transwomen. Superficiality is, indeed, an innate aspect of humanity, I agree; evolution is a slow process but I think we can set the ball rolling towards an eradication of that trait.

I think it's preposterous for any woman to be so concerned with wasting her time and money trying to conform to an everchanging beauty ideal. There are so many more important aspects to consider but us transwomen are, too often, completely consumed by superficial concerns. Facial surgery, breast augmentation, voice surgery, etcetera. Is it really so bad to forego those expenses (which often do not improve our passability much) and simply say with pride "I am a transsexual" with pride?

Oh believe me, I get it. I'm a post-op mtf who has been living full-time for 8 years, nearly 5 years post-op.
My opinion on the evils of superficiality is based on a subscription to the belief that the imposed norm of the eternal quest for beauty all women are inundated with is a double standard. Men do not concern themselves with such trivialities but the most grotesque man, most often, expects women to always look their best. In a world which is so full of strife and volatility...

Oh man, why must we all be so superficial? Fuck appearance. We are transsexuals. Can't change that, just cultivate a sense of pride in yourself that isn't necessarily related to being trans and everything will be great.

HUMAN BEINGS are superficial. Get used to it. This is one vlog that that was created specifically to address image issues that ALL transsexuals face at some point in their life.

OMG girl that is so awesome. I'm moving into that same part of transition you are in right now and am right there with you on that guy part holding me back. On the upside I've known for a long time that that portion of me is and has been just a tool (like a screwdriver or a hammer) for me to fit in until I decided to finally just be me!

LOL! Oh wow! I know the message isn't funny but what a hilarious way to present it. I totally feel you though. I was just going through some journals where I was doing just that, talking to myself. I can also relate to the unposted vlogs, and in my case, unsent letters or unsaid conversations. In fact, I just sent my first letter to an actual therapist but I think it's the 20th I've written.
