  • don't forget that sucralose is a nerotoxin and a carcinogen . Highly unhealthy over time.

  • @tinslatee Don;t agree with that at all, but I will post it here, because there are always two sides to anything

  • Is it the literal act of CHEWING that stimulates this process, or is it the artificial, and calorie free sweetners used in gum (and other diet products) that trigger this? I know I've studied the effects of aspartame (and others) and the negative effects they have by tricking the body into thinking its getting energy, but haven't heard the chewing part of it persay. I use gum, but mostly hold it under my tongue and don't chomp it, same effect?

  • @hollyjoymccabe Yes, it is the "chewing" act itself

  • @benmarchio Yes, it can create acid reflux as well. Good point. Glad you found this post useful and glad you added commentary as well

  • coach, is coffee bad to drink? I drink about 2 cups a day..One in the moring and one for dinner to help me get through my day

  • @DRod79 Not at all mate. Best stimulant around, within reason of course. Coach Weiss is a coffee junkie! (LOL) and I have two vente's each morning before training. Should be fine as long as you stay well hydrated with good ole plain H2O during the day as well

  • Great topic Scott!

What about when the breath stinks from dieting? I have had issues of my breath stinking when I reduce my carbohydrates intake for a period of time. Would you have an idea why this happens? Have you encountered this problem before? I assume chewing gum is only a temporary solution to the problem, as once the effect of the gum is finished, the acids would increase and cause more issues of stinking. Could it be a lack of a type of food, or going too low on carbohydrates?

  • @boiaustralia Actually what you describe is a well know side effect of being in ketosis (from low carbs diets). Long term low carbs dieting is NOT good. You should check out my MP3 audio lecture "The Truth About Diet" for more on that

Something like a Tic Tac would be better because it doesn't involve the "constant chewing" as gum does

  • Hey coaches a question, whats the best thing to repair muscles after workout, I started stimulating my muscles in a different way to give them a kick. As I am typing now, my lats are still hurting 6 days after working them. I do take creatine as well as complex B6 and potassium, plenty water etc. Not sure what else

  • @samuils Well this really has nothing to do with this clip. First you need to have the proper progressive program. Muscles hurting that much for that long after training are damaged not stimulated. For recovery its proper nutrition and rest. But you get nowhere annilihating your muscles.

As for supplements the creatine is fine, the other stuff useless

  • this happened to me. i was eating like 4 packs per day or the trident fruit punch LOL it is a mofo when your low on the cals :)

  • I chew a piece of gum during the last half of my training session 5x a week. Would the digestion stimulation at this time be detrimental? I've never had any issues since I eat a meal after training, but what do you think about this?

  • @zippychix Well I would never advise chewing gum, but if you have no issues with it, it seems, then you could do so.
