Samoans might not be the only polynesian island that tattoos this way, but it originated from that country. It don't matter if the tattooist isn't from Samoa, or it wasn't in Samoa.. you can imitate, but you can't duplicate buddy. Don't forget, "tattoo" is derived from the Samoan word "Tatau".
All you wannabees! TriXx666, you are a piercer? that means your culture stems from the Pigmis, where they stick bones thru their nose and their language is "Umbanga Umbanga". FullofShit! "If they don't know what it means. we don't do it"! You would tattoo one black tattoo on one black guy if he paid the price and not even blink an eye! In ancient times not anyone could tattoo, you had to be a choosen one, and to be tattooed you had to deserve it.
@stoptheyelling where in the fuck are you getting this.....preschoolers. Wow guy....grow up and try using proper grammar while you'r at it! Um just to give you a heads up most black people dont like getting tattooed because of the keloiding issues with there skin. Most have switched to branding or scarification. I am not in this for the money. And "my culture" is Irish and Scottish. and piercings date back to the early dynasty's of Egypt and Myan civilizations. In Egypt it showed social status.
try doing some research before trying to look smart. You don't. you sound like someone that does nothing but talk shit and you get mad when a 25 year old female tells you how stupid and immature you sound. I think the reason you never responded to me is because you feel threatened by the fact i know what i talking about. And I also do tattoo. Are you going to tell me i can only tattoo traditional Japanese artwork on the Yakuza, or that only gangsters get them
Now i have a question. Was the needle he was using encased in plastic? I looks disposable really happy to see him using at least 1 glove! And really people that have alot of shit to say about a white dude getting a poly tatt..unless you were born and raised in that culture shut the hell up. Ive been working in tattooshops for 7 years and we have tattooed alot of poly work on people.....that were doing it for the meaning of the artwork. We study this shit before we just slap it on someone
@TriXx666 Full of shit! so what if you tattoo for 7 yrs, don't mean shit - you taking something that was sacred for hundreds of years prior to your silly ass and you just put it all over anybody who pay. - Traditional your ass! then you get that white guy getting something on him that he don't even know what the meaning is. stupid!
@stoptheyelling you should really live up to your name buddy. Your just another run of the mill ignorant fuck. For your info, I do not tattoo. @bohdaaanek lol! I try! trust i could have made him feel even dumber if i didn't have a character restriction! Ignorance is bliss in western society! As sad as that sounds its very true. I am a single mother so not only do i instill values by teaching my daughter about body art but learning about the cultures and history it spawns from! i hate dumb people
@bohdaaanek You seem to be interested in them. Im a creeper and checked you out. I can but are you looking for you or to continue this pointless argument. I can help point you in the right direction! ill Message you the link that I found for you!
To some people its kinda disrespectful to get a tattoo from a culture thats not related to your ethnicity, but thats only to a few( keep that in mind.) To others expanding their traditions is something they love to do. If you want to get a polynesian tattoo, at least go to an artist who IS polynesian and to do it for you and have good respect for their culture. They will be more than pleased to show that you are interested in their culture.
@ Trahlalie, no you don't have to be polynesian to get a traditional tattoo it is something that you have to earn in our culture (the tatau or pe'a for the guys nd malu for the ladies) any other form of tattoo anyone can get..these kind of tattoos are sacred to our culture and it is only when you become a chief can you obtain such honour bt it has been long gone out the window..nowadays anyone can get it like it doesnt mean anything..a little respect would go a long way if you dont understand.
yhur nt a wannabee ! dnt mind them ! & kudos to yhu for gettin a poly tat ! ihts nice to see other races wntn a poly tat . lolss ! too bad we cnt see wt iht looks like :) malo !
i think people should embrace other races wanting to get a polynesian tattoo. we should be proud and not angry. it doesn't mean they want to be poly. to me it means that they like our culture plain and simple. just like how us polynesians like the palangi culture. we wear their clothes, speak their language, buy their inventions and yes dare i say it, one of their citizens. and not just the palangi culture i think every culture is influenced by all unbeknownst or not.
Im samoan and idk if this is in samoa or not but good on this guy for getting a polynesian tattoo doesnt matter skin nash background i jus feel good seeing white people with our tattoos lol its good . cheers
its alright to go get a polynesian tattoo and your white or whatever anything else. but if your copying other peoples tattoos when its a family tatt. thats bad, but if you have your own design and all. and you want it? go for it.
@LegendsLiveforeverx3 thats true. BUT, if it is your own tattoo and you go around and say it is a Polynesian tattoo, people think that you are directly representing the polynesian culture(s). And mis-representing the polynesian culture is a sensitive matter to its people. If a person did respect the cultures It would be best to just say that you got your own style tattoo, but maybe through the ttraditional polynesian method.
Oh almost forgott keep up the good work till we tattoo the whole world and continue sharing our culture so the world may see it's beauty aloha mahalo faafetai and malo
If it kills you to see a palagi haole or non Polynesian get our tatts than you should consider getting one .our people always discriminate on other people getting our ink on them yet so many of us walk around bare skinned I think if he or she is brave enough to under go the tatau then we should honor them the way our ancestors have .The only thing I disapprove of is outsiders doing our designs my father and his father have the pe'a I am patiently waiting my turn I also tattoo different contempo
Don't know why ya hassling the guy for, at least he is able to stand the pain. I'd rather a white or mixed person get tatted and is will to learn the culture than having our own people get tatted up just to show it off. Tradition has long been out the door, since the first tatter tatted someone with no experience of the samoan, moorea, tongan, ect. tradition. The outsiders sometimes are worth tatted than our own people. And at least this guy, whom ever he is, is able to stand the pain..

Non polynesians with polynesian tribal tattoos kill me. I can understand other people may really like polynesian tattoos because they are beautiful and look really cool. So, lets leave it at that be an admirer of the art not a wearer. These tattoos harness ancient meaning, embody lineage, heritage and signify our roots. (exception to the rule adopted folks!)
@WeaDaSwell how is he trying to be polinesian??? by liking tatoos??? lol i guess if u ever get a normal tatoo like english writting than u'll be trying to be white hahaha
So you can only get a traditional Polynesian tattoo if you're Polynesian yourself? Load of crap.. I'm a white girl, does that mean that if i wanna listen to rapmusic, I wanna be black? No.. I have some Japanese style tattoos, does that make me a Japanese-wannabee? No, I just like the style.. So mind your own business!
@Trahlalie Im very sorry but why would you want something that you have nothing to do with. Its flattering that you wanna look like us and pretend you know about the polynesian culture because you have tattoo. But, aren't you proud of who YOU are? Why try to be something your not? @sekefs684 who cares uso? If you don't want white people getting poly tatts then take over the world and be a hitler and get what you want. Otherwise stop crying cos it makes the rest of us look like cry babies. Yes the tatts are sacred and others admire them so why deny others the chance to have some of our art on their bodies? Don't like it? Then tell that to the tattoo artist. I already know what the tattoo artists would say to you. Aikae, tapuni lou nuku lol
@Trahlalie rap music is not part of a strong traditional heritage one would argue. It is tied to one but it is also open to everyone. Tattooing is kind of sacred to this heritage. I find it a little phony to get one like this unless it really means to you what it means to them. but i mean whateva.
@Trahlalie but there is a sort of boundary or limit that you shouldn't cross, so you can get a Samoan tattoo, just make sure you show some respect and explain where it comes from
