if this helped,,,what are the results,,, have 17 years of age and from Bosnia-Herzegovina and I ...... if this operation can stop the pectus carinatum wanted to do this....I went to the doctor he gave me instruction on how to do the exercises I have worked for 3 months nothing helped al after I gave up...whether this operation can bring in another country other than USA
I have this but it doesn't bother me I wear a brace and im really popular so no one really cares... they just ask why I wear the brace so I tell them, don't be so uncomfortable its fine!!! At least you don't have to get surgery,
Go to Pectus services and make an appointment to be evaluated for the T-Joe Brace. My son is 16 and has been wearing his pectus brace for 2 months..He has pectus carinatum on the left side of his chest. His chest has already improved in just 2 months..You DON'T have to have surgery!! Joe is awesome and he will change your life forever.. Good luck !
i have this same condition too. It really sucks. When i was younger i didn't think it was such a big deal but exercising has always been a problem for me

Kids used to tease me. I always thought what kind of chick would be with a guy with a deformed chest. I ain't considering the bar.
Mine is slightly moderate. Always frustrated though with taking my shirt off. If u have P.C too, don't let it get to u. Anyone that teases u is an ignorant piece of amphibian shit. Think of it as an extra muscle. Now, kids don't tease me because I'm awesome and cool.
I had this done about 5 months ago. I'm 15 and the lump probably stuck out about 1 inch from my chest. I had the ravich procedure done. They say that people can be fully recovered within like 2 weeks to 6 months. As for me it is 5 months now and the chest area i still quite painful. @Krashevil that's horrible.. I was never aware of mine until when I was 16 I was sleeping with this girl and she started asking me about it (luckily not as heartless as your girl, sorry about that :( ) ... I went to the hospital later, and they told me more about it, and that they'd have to cut my chest open and stuff, so I was afraid. Now, some years later, I'm 22.. and didn't do surgery yet.. I'm just afraid... wow but it feels great just writing about it.. like.. really fucking great :')
my son has this Pectus carinatum. He has chest pain and restricted lung capacity. Although he has been getting seen for 2 years for Vitamin D deficiency, no one seems to talk to him about his chest or offer any solution. He wants to be an actor and apart from not wanting girls to see his chest he is also concerned it will affect his career. Is this because we are in the UK? Why haven't the doctors said they could do this brace like people in US have?
i have P.C. but also i have one chest that is missing a major muscle so one chest looks bigger while the other chest is flat. Would i have to do the p.c. surgery and then somehow have silicon implanted in my chest to make it look like the other chest?
of course id get rid of mine if itd be without any pain and consequences...but since mine dosent hurt or keeps me away from exercise,i dont think i would o trough surgery or anything else..
I have this condition and was due to have this operation for free on the NHS but got to nervous and cancelled it on the day i was due to be admitted to hospital.
I have pectus and a lot of people call it a "uniboob" at school, I hound out that if you wear a collar t-shirt or a hoodie with a zipper, you won't get noticed that much. I am actually getting braces for it and I am really exited about that.
i have pectus carinatum, and went to the hospital today for a medical consult. The doctor said that they cant do the nuss bar for pectus carinatum, they only do it for pectus excavatum. So for me they said the only option was the ravitch procedure, where they cut open my chest and remove cartilage and stuff. ...
I don't know the extent of your condition, but you should definitely contact the CHKD pectus program at (757) 668-NUSS (6877). CHKD's program is the first in the nation to use a bracing procedure for carinatum and I would definitely want to get a consult before undergoing a Ravich procedure.
@raverlampman i actually had the ravitch procedure done on june 29th 2011 and i love the results. the scar is surprisingly small and i was only in the hospital for 5 days. im in a lot of pain but i have percocet and vicodin for the pain. but at least i dont have to go back for a second surgery to remove a bar (which i would have had to do with the nuss procedure).
Hi, I have a 13 YO daughter that has severe asymetrical PC, with apparently slight PE on one side and rib flare too, she is very self conscious of this as it has really gotten worse with growth in last 12 mths. My concern is that in Australai the main procedure recommended is Ravitch and would have to travel OS for nuss at huge cost. Just so confused as to what would be better for her.......
@qldgirl01 i would actually recommend the ravitch procedure. With the nuss, you have to go back in a couple years for another surgery to remove the bar. Also, the cartilage which causes the deformity is still there so the chances it will come back is much greater. With ravitch, they remove all excess cartilage so its guaranteed to stay fixed. i had severe PC and had cartilage removed from 11 ribs, and had one rib removed, and my scar is horizontal and only 2.5 inches long. it turned out nice
@EuSouBenfica5 its amazing! very small scar. It hurt really bad for the first week, but it hasnt been two months and im already back to normal playing football and basketball :). couldnt be happier with the results.
@hanamontanarules1 i just had this surgery they had to remove cartlig of of my ribs broke a few and removed 2 ribs relay realy bad bout 1st month but its been bout 2 or 3 now and its not to bad unless i coff or sneez haha it realy is worth it im so happy i got it done
@hanamontanarules1 I am going for the ravitch procedure. Don't sweat it man, I heard it was painful but you have to ask yourself Is the pain worst than living with the condition itself? I personally think not but that's just my opinion. Also, I'm doing it because I had done the bracing technique and it turned out to give me lung/hearts issues and I will be going through the ravitch procedure anytime soon. They will give you pain medications so pain is the least of your worries, good luck.
@AngeIord I agree with you, i'm having mine done very soon, it's so much better to correct the problem, the most important. There's no way i can live like this.
I have this everyone thinks I have tits or something, it helps my running cos it means I have larger lungs. I tried to get pecs but it makes it look worse when I have a shirt on, everyone always takes the piss at school.
i got the surgery, i had the alternative to the bar, i had my sternum broken and reset, and i had a brace for 1 and a half months after, it looks fine now, check out my channel to see how it looks now
My daughter has both PE and PC. She had this surgery for her PE over a year ago and has done extremely well. It has significantly improved the shape of her chest, her lung capacity and stamina as well as her self-esteem. She also has the external brace for her PC and we have seen visible results with that as well. The testing required before the surgery was a CT scan, a pulmonary function test and an ECG for heart function. We would highly recommend the surgery if your physician suggests it.
im getting surgery for this in may but the way my sternums twisted they have to cut the ribs from the sternum , twist it back then reattach the ribs with wire and secure it with struts. this video has a less painful recovery so those having it done count yourselves really lucky.
im 19....is it still to late to get the surgery....? cause if it is im going to kill myself.....this thing on me has lowered my self esteem, i have been made fun of all my life cause of this thing......even my dad has made fun of me about it someone ANYONE please answer.......i have gotten in so many fights(almost killed one of the people making fun me at one point) cause of this fucking thing, i even turned to drugs to ease the pain of on and off depression....
@supershuu CHKD helped develop and refine a new bracing method to correct pectus carinatum. You can contact CHKD by calling (757) 668-NUSS or sending an e-mail to pectus@chkd.org.
@supershuu Exactly the same here, but I learn't to deal with it and not give a fuck, so what if they said I have tits or moobs or call me a freak, why should I care, if a guy in the street looks at my chest, I just go 'Faggot ..'. Don't bother
Hey guys i have this and lately i have been horribly tired and had fatigue and cant participate in my sports ....is anyone else like this ???? please respond!!!!!!!!!!!
So...You have a girlfriend... You give her a hg and she is scared or terrified...I know...I have this deformation to...Be yourself wth?(sorry for bad english)
Just want to give a shout out to all my fellow brothers with PC. It used to bother me alot more back in the day. Honestly though, every girl I've been with and had sex with didn't even care about it. One of my ex's actually used to like kissing it and shit. It's also a alot less noticeable since I put on some muscle. Check out my facebook pics!
I've had this since puberty. I never noticed at first and my doctor was the first to make me feel like shit for it. She was checking my breathing, felt my chest, and said "If you exercised more often then you wouldn't be this skinny." That devastated me and made me feel like a freak. I've gotten over that insecurity and am now approaching the end of my junior year. Don't let this bring down you spirit. If people stare at you then who cares? You know who you are and that's all that matters.
is there anyone on here that has already had this operation? If so please mail me as i would like to talk to you about it. My 13 year old brother has been given a choice to have this and he doesn't know what to do, so i would appreciate it if you could mail so so he can hear someones views who was in the same situation as him. Thank you <3
I'm deffinately going to create a vid for u guys I wanna sho all u other sufferers that u dnt need to live with pectus carinatum and how Brilliant it has made my life also u can not notice the bar when it's in I forget tht its even there and is a gr8 way to gross people out when u tell them about it hahaha
Hey guys I'm from England and I'm the first person ever to have the nuss procedure done over here, my pectus carinatum wasn't as bad as some of the other sufferers who have it. I had this surgery at Sheffield's children's hospital when I was 16 and will be having the bar removed this year. I was only in the hospital for 8 days and suffered absolutely zero pain post op. If any one has any questions u can contact me through my email iamconor1992@hotmail.co.uk I'm happy to answer any of ur questio
I hate this so fuckin much. I had this almost my whole life and it makes me want to not have children in a small way. I hope that my children don't have it.
i was pist off when i first found out i had pc because when i first had signs of it around 6th grade my doctor toold me it was fine, but after my growth spurt it was extreamly noticable, because of that guy, i have to wear a brace for 2 years what could of been 1 year.
i have it aswell and ill be glad to talk about it ,add me here on youtube and ill give u my email to talk from msn,ppl never noticed it on me cause i do bodybuilding exercises etc i have rly nice abs etc but im still gonna do it,it costs waaaaay more low than the guy below said like 5k euros max.im 18 years old btw

I am almost 15 i have a chest like the one in the video but my chest sticks out more on the left side it is slowly getting more noticeable you can even see it under my shirt. i don't want to wear a brace or have surgery is their any way i can make it less noticeable?
@pintobean263 A brace is most of the time a brilliant medical instrument. I have mine for 1 3/4 week and I can already see the difference when I take it off, Also, My pc was so bad that you would see it very much but with the brace my chest is flat. I highly reccommend a brace.
I have this pc to but mine sticks out pretty far out and it's noticeable if I stand straight. I sometimes have trouble breathing and It's slanted. if I lay down on my side I can feel under it. how can I fix it??
@wow0spec it is actually already there at birth. Or atleast the "program" that tells your chest how to grow is already there, it just doesnt grow into that shape until puberty usually.. or atleast thats how my doctor explained it.. I had pectus excavatum and had it corrected 6 months ago with the nuss procedure..
that really doesnt seem worth it, mine isnt really huge or anything but i think id rather wear a brace or something then have a metal bar placed inside of me for 2 years.
i have it too and it used to be very noticeable so i would slouch alot. i soon picked up interest in bodyuilding and gained more muscle weight and weight by eating alot more and now you can just see a little bump because my pecs cover the sides. idk if i would want a metal bar in my chest for 2 years. seems like it limits your activity.
i have pc and it has made me a very insecure person. It has also made it very difficult for me to play sports, because of the trouble breathing. I would never fix it because then i would be changing it to please other people. I'm am 1 in 500 people.
btw upperbody work outs help a lot. when i flex my chest i cant even notice it
This surgery (reverse nuss) is only done at CHKD in Norfolk, VA in the USA. You are in the hospital for 3-4 days and have restrictions for six weeks, after that you can do everything except football, kickboxing and wrestling. Insurance will pay for it if there are symptoms other than just cosmetic. Looks great instantly after surgery. This doctor is the best and has the most experience.
i have pectus carinatum and from what i've heard, doctors will normally only attempt an operation if it has an impact on well being and not just for cosmetic purposes =/ any ideas on what its gonna cost?
right i need help i got this lump or something on my chest i say it is pc
i have been to the docter and the faggot says its normal ,, it doesnt luk normal and doesnt feel normal , how do i no if i have got pc ,, please reply
@Lilandyere321 is it the bone that stick outs? or is it just the cartilidge? my sternum sticks out but the thers also a lot of cartilidge on the sternum
Yep, I wish this option was around when I was young enough to be operated on; however, I can tell you younger guys and gals that you WILL grow more comfortable with it. As you get older, your peers will be less critical of abnormalities, and I've had great success with women and not one has had a problem with it. Sometimes you've just gotta stand naked. Still, I almost always wear an undershirt to help mask it, and I find upper body work outs to help tremendously.
When I look in the mirror I feel like a total retard. I can't wear a shirt that doesn't POP THE FUCK out of my right sternum (Yeah, it's assymetrycal, it's even worse!) I've been wearing this shitty brace for 2 months now and I see no results at all, I feel like a dick that's being sucked by a crocodile... I hate my life
i have had 2 chest surgeries, MAJORLY invasive for pectus carinatum at the shriners hospital in houston. I am 23 now and had the surgeries when i was 14-16 years old. They removed all of the cartiladge from my ribs to my sternum, cracked my sternum and lowered it into position. I wish there was more information on this back when i had my chest surgeries.
heeyy hondadude107 me n you preety much have the sames lives my pidgen cheast isnt as big but its still really notice able i would lyk how to get it removed as well
I have P.C too, I went to see a European doctor in NYC about it and he showed me 2 breathing exercises I could do to help it.
Anyways, I've been doing them for maybe a month or two now, along with my normal bodybuilding routine, and I've noticed small results so far, so there are SOME things you can do without surgery.
Also, I have mild scoliosis and Asthma, though I'm not sure if the Scoliosis caused P.C, or P.C caused the scoliosis, any ideas?
@pmzqabel i have the same problem like you , a simmetrical PC and scoliosis, in my case is becouse one of my legs is taller than the other leg ,2 centimetres only, but i think that they are not relacionated
I have an asymmetrical case of pc. I have tried all forms of braces and have been unsuccessful with treatment. Recently I went and got a chest tattoo to cover the entire area, to make myself more comfortable with it.
@speedkiller1262. hay mate, im from australia and i have PC im fkn 21 now and scared im to old for this to b reversed. how old are you?? i know how u feel its fukn bullshit having this shit.. mine is very sametrical but still gay city!!! i am naturaly very musclie like its weird how big i am for some one who lives like i do (no working out) but this make it so much worse because i feel like if i didnt have this i would have a really good body.. anyway if u wanna talk u know how 2 contact 2 me ;)
I just asked them, and it costs $58,000 without insurance. The Ravitch procedure costs $20,000. I don't know how the Nuss can cost more than the Ravitch when the Ravitch involves a lot more work. It probably costs more artificially, just because people would rather do this one. Charging more just because they can...that's the medical industry for ya.
You cant play eny contact sports such as football , kickboxing , or eny other shit where u can get hit , u can lift weights , u can swim , u can go with bikes as long as u dont HIT. Healing time is ull be in a hospital for like 2-3 weeks.
@TheVaginaKiller u both come from the island called tjaki tuki :p its ur sister and i hope you die both of you you damn haters Racists and u both Nazi's ;)
i dont need people to like me ower a fucking internet ur a fucking cock sucker if u make people to "like" u ower a fucking internet hahah u fucking wanker go to 4chan
And i hope you will be buried with ur facking hate full generation cuzz they re al gay uhu i hope u re going to be buried on ur grandma's dead body and i hope that you die in pain u know plz come to Holland then we will show you something how we treat Nazi's and Racists in my neighborhood

People please I beg for your help.
I have PC and it has gotten me the lowest of self esteems.
My dad doesn't wanna help me, he keeps telling me there is no fix for my chest. That I should get over it.
I know he is wrong.
Can someone who has had a brace please tell me if it really helps? How much time did you wear it? Where did you get it from?
Or should I go for surgery? I'm willing to even pay with my own money and I'm just 15 years old. I would do anything to just end with this!

I have pectus and a lot of people call it a "uniboob" at school, I hound out that if you wear a collar t-shirt or a hoodie with a zipper, you won't get noticed that much. I am actually getting braces for it and I am really exited about that.
HARVESTANtrademark 9 months ago
i have pectus carinatum, and went to the hospital today for a medical consult. The doctor said that they cant do the nuss bar for pectus carinatum, they only do it for pectus excavatum. So for me they said the only option was the ravitch procedure, where they cut open my chest and remove cartilage and stuff. ...
hanamontanarules1 10 months ago
@hanamontanarules1

@hanamontanarules1
Just so confused as to what would be better for her.......
qldgirl01 7 months ago
@qldgirl01 i would actually recommend the ravitch procedure. With the nuss, you have to go back in a couple years for another surgery to remove the bar. Also, the cartilage which causes the deformity is still there so the chances it will come back is much greater. With ravitch, they remove all excess cartilage so its guaranteed to stay fixed. i had severe PC and had cartilage removed from 11 ribs, and had one rib removed, and my scar is horizontal and only 2.5 inches long. it turned out nice

mouad1992ful 1 month ago
@hanamontanarules1 I am going for the ravitch procedure. Don't sweat it man, I heard it was painful but you have to ask yourself Is the pain worst than living with the condition itself? I personally think not but that's just my opinion. Also, I'm doing it because I had done the bracing technique and it turned out to give me lung/hearts issues and I will be going through the ravitch procedure anytime soon. They will give you pain medications so pain is the least of your worries, good luck.

You don't get them from birth. It's a deformaty you can gain through puberty.

@wow0spec it is actually already there at birth.

I just asked them, and it costs $58,000 without insurance. The Ravitch procedure costs $20,000. I don't know how the Nuss can cost more than the Ravitch when the Ravitch involves a lot more work. It probably costs more artificially, just because people would rather do this one. Charging more just because they can...that's the medical industry for ya.
