how is an $80,000 top of the line viper fair against a $40,000 base C5 vette? atleast make it a 2001-2004 Z06 so its about 200 lbs lighter and 40-60hp better from the factory than the base c5 and that makes a hell of a difference.

Sad part is you can tell it is a C5 not even a C6....i'd like to see the same mods on the C6 or even the C6Z06. C5 base models had the LS1. C5Z06 had the LS6. Atleast the C6 has the LS2 with 400hp @ the crank / LS3 w/ 430 compared to the 340-350 from the LS1 and 385 from the LS6. I think the same race against the C6 models would be decent. Different outcome completely but decent....oh lol forgot to mention the LS7 with the 505hp @ the crank =D So yeah most definitely a different outcome.

actually the '08 cummins is horrible. it is a 6.7 Liter and has that STUPID dfp on it. they make your mileage horrible. anyone who doesnt know what a dfp is should look it up. and you cant do mch to one until you take it off which a programmer/downloader wont do. u have to have a shop, such as scheid diesel, do it and all in all costs about $1,000. they should have stayed with the 5.9 common rail diesel

Your "ten times" is trollish. The fact remains that the 'vette was beaten by a small margin on a closed circuit 3 times. It's a combination of lateral acceleration, braking and torque/horsepower. The Viper exceeded 1.01G lateral acceleration more than ten years ago. And, it hasn't been getting any slower in turns, braking, or acceleration. Good reason for Chevy to start pumping real beans into their flagship. Doesn't matter who 'wins', each car is absolutely impressive - in anything but snow.

viper's weight distribution is not the same as a vette and vettes usually have betetr take off because most of a viper's weight is in the front thats why they loose control on circuit races all the time vs vettes and are cows on 1/4 mile times too so ppl prefer vipers only for top end races. Which is the main reason why I love vettes. You can use vettes on any track. 1/4, circuit, top end you name it the vette is always there competing no matter what.

Its exactly the opposite of what your saying buddy. Vettes are front heavy, Vipers are actually BACK HEAVY if anything. The ZR1 with the added blower weighs more than 200lbs heavier than the Z06, moving its front weight bias to 53%front/47%rear. Hell, the 2003 Viper is 49%front/51%rear. Much better. The 2008 Viper coupe is even better, 48%front/52%rear. Vettes have historically had MUCH more difficulty getting power to the pavement in tough circumstances than Vipers. Vipers hook up and go.

Very well said. The New 08 ZO6 and the New 08 viper srt-10 are very close. I personally love Corvettes and the magazines and specs say that the ZO6 is quicker in quarter mile and track times. But then again its all up to the driver like you said. Put professional drivers in both cars they will do good and You put sucky drivers in the cars they wont perform at all!

Neither the Vette or the Viper are Supercharged. When the Video starts it says both have "Bolt on" upgrades and yes I know a Supercharger bolts on but it means both cars have Intake, Headers, Exhaust, and a maybe couple other small things. If either had a blower you would hear it whine like a 03-04 Cobra Mustang but a bit quieter.
