ARISE is a spiritual process filled with hope and removes blame, shame, and guilt for individuals and families. It's very different from other forms of intervention. There are no secrets, ambushes, or bullying people into treatment. As a continuum of care, ARISE sees a person through initial treatment through relapse prevention over a substantial amount of time. Interventions, when done properly and honestly, can definitely begin a healing process and recovery for individuals and families.

I hate to say it, but the intervention technique has always backfired on me. It has made the drinking so much worse, increased the alcoholic's anger, resentment, and rage. I wish it were this simple. But when the cancer of alcoholism becomes malignant, that person's spirit is gone. It is a disease perhaps . . . but one of evil. A spiritual malady. Interventions simply do not work. Man, do I EVER wish that they did.

I can attest intervention DOES work, but, ONLY when the alcholic is ready. I had to be prepared mentally to let the alcoholic go and that I was not responsible for their choices. Once I realized that I was partly responsible by enabling the alcoholic, and helping them remain in that state, I was able to move toward getting my spirit back first. 2 interventions later, 2 family members are living a more serene life in sobriety, and we all work together to stay that way! There is HOPE!
