Does that means that they only like light-skinned girls?

    What about dark-skinned girls?

I'm asking that because I'm even american, I'm from brazil and my english interpretation kinda sucks...

  • @alone4fossa brown skin ladies are also dark skinned women becuase black people arent actually the colour BLACK, were all a form of brown no matter how dark u are

  • 0 Dislikes, that's what I like to see, too much hate in Hip-Hop these days.

  • I LOVE Talib Kweli! He's a shining example of a loving father and strong black man. Strange that Mos Def would be singing about his love for 'brown skin lady' (meaning African women) when all of his wives/baby mamas have been anything but.

  • @CocoaBrownSkinLady i was thinkin the same thing about mos def...what he know about a brown skin lady?? lol I still love him, though.

  • @mizizshellybear lol me too, he is fine! I like Talib more overall though.

it don't get no betta than this song

  • @Svetlahna i think that's something rarely captured well in rap. i say that at risk of getting pushed too. but what i've seen hip hop spits the real, rap the hot, r&b seems to keep the hugs not the thugs. but if you listen to a lot of it then you'll find some really good songs.

  • best hip hop song of all time imo. entropy you can tell ya wife that sure it'll confuse her enough to get you some cuddle time.

  • @Svetlahna BLOODY HELL... you white women are unbelievable - LOL. Soooooo GREEDY for attention. Does the spotlight always have to be on you? Get your own white men to rap about you.

  • @KickWhitesOutAfrica lol ikr? As if constantly being held up on a pedestal all over the place in the media isn't good enough for them.

  • ill beat..check out my freeyle for this...

  • The dialogue at the beginning comes from Spike Lee's film "Get on the Bus." On the way to DC, the brothas are sitting around tallking about females and the one cat says he only likes light-skinned women.

  • @desbiens14 Yeah the dialogue is from a little known film called Chameleon Street. You can find clips from it here on You Tube. It was a good movie, to me anyways. Reminesient of some Melvin Van Peeples type stuff. Check it out, if you can find it.

  • @desbiens14 in case you still wondered, from wikipedia: A sample contained in the song "Brown Skin Lady," is from the film **Chameleon Street** and has generated the often repeated and often misattributed quote, "I'm a victim brother. I'm a victim of 400 years of conditioning. The man has programmed my conditioning. Even my conditioning has been conditioned!" - peace! ;)

  • @desbiens14

Ofcourse, within the African American community there exists a legacy of people who suffer from post tramatic slave syndrome (sounds crazy, but does exist). On plantations we were taught to believe that we were doomed to forever be the ugly one, monster, beast and undesirable things of the planet. It took some time but we began and continue to see the beauty within our brown skin and no longer view Africa as the dark continent but the Mother Land. Any other questions let me know.
