You can see how Beyonce tries to stick closer to the original because of it being in the film. She wanted it to sound very similar to Etta's version. That's why she wasn't doing any screamfest version like Christina Aguilera. You notice Etta isn't screaming at the top of her lungs in her version the whole song.

I would actually look at the video of this performance elsewhere on YT.Also, it's definitely better than the screamfest that Christina Aguilera calls singing. Christina doesn't know anything about control, subtlety and phrasing sometimes. Everything is about screaming with her to "prove" that she can sing. That's why Christina's voice cracks so much in live performances.

If you notice Etta sings the song more like Beyonce than Christina's version. Beyonce was playing Etta so she wanted to based on her intepretation closer to the original. Beyonce's version is better than Etta's. I don't care who don't want to admit. Go listen and you'll see what I'm talking about.
