Here, I think, they use Europe in a geographical sense, rather than a cultural one. The Minoans are most likely of note to all Eastern Mediterranean histories, but particularly so for a modern European historical perspective that looks for historical legacy within its current boundaries.

great documentary... I made mine 10 years ago and say the same thing, same conclusions, same dates... except i also give the cause. But that being said, great video here none the less
