@jewman36 I can't stand when ignorant kids with no experience say silly things like this. Hate to break it to you jewman, but you could not even swing a bokken half as fast as the guys in this video. And just because you like to pretend you can fight because you watch anime cartoons, doesn't mean you know even the first thing about martial arts of any kind.
It is always nice to see sparring with Katana. I have always been dissapointed with Aikido Katana training when it comes to sword work. Real sparring seems vital to true training, and the dojo`s I went to dont have it. Injuries are a price we pay for developing skill. Hopefully not bad injuries. "Cry in the Dojo, laugh on the battlefield(author unknown)"Too many videos on youtube show "Hollywood moves" as a defense. I NEVER see those moves in practical sparring.
@gottitgood4me Yeaa the japaneese have been perfecting the art of the sword and katana for thousands of years and only centuries of war have proven which styles were the most effective so do ur hw b4 u talk shit
@TomoeMichieru Haha thats funny, im trying to learn how to fight with bokken and katanas and these two guys teaching me taught themselves, theyre like 20, but I can tell they lack fundamental skills that every kendo teacher should know. Im not sure if I want to join a dojo yet but for now im watching training videos so hopefully it will help.
Very cool stuff - always thought the guy in the Gi was pretty awesome with a bokken. One thing I noticed though is that compared to a katana that was sized for each warrior, all bokken are the same size, and can be easily used with one hand... could anyone tell me why this is?
then kendo guy pretty much had the fight in the bag as the other guy in the green shirt was not too aware of distance and had his feet too stiff and planted to deeply into the ground whereas the kendo guy kept his footwork light and springy and sank into his stance only when he struck
Hi, i have some question. Why do you bang the sword like they are sticks? Isent the the point of the exercise is to act like it real(do cuts)? Also why the twit in green swing like he playing baseball? Thanks, TTT.
In sparring it´s to dangerous from MY opinion, because with a tsube you can build ab much pressure to the enemys sword and sometimes the swords flip from each other and you hit your opponent with full pressure which can cause serious injuries and broken bones as well ;-)
Oh right! I suppose I'd have to spar with tsubas attached myself to fully understand what you mean. Great vid btw, you can really learn alot from watching free sparring. 5*
Kashima Shinto Ryu uses tsuba and that has happened once or twice. However, due to the nature of the system, we still use them cuz broken fingers will ensue without them. Especially with the thick bokken Kashima uses. I prefer the bokken we use in Shinto Muso Ryu, a bit lighter and quicker.
All skills need guidance and training. If you just practice yourself without instruction from a master, you're never going to be as good as those who have trained.
you are all stupid kenjutsu is awsome aikido is awsome and in aikido they teach you some kenjutsu!!!!!!!!!! self taght ha give me a break you just think kenjutsu is all about fighting and killing its about the art of it the history its not just pysical its mental to like over coming fers and patiance not whoa that was cool

@thecgh He who attempts to learn swordsmanship completely on his own has a fool for a teacher.

We need kind to bang, because without protection this seems he only way to keep it kind of safe.
And the thing about baseball: Yes, that looks dumb. But I improved on that. This vid is kind a 2 years old. Thx. :-)

The extending Stab. I tend to it q little too often myself. It can often times come back to bite you in the butt. Its great when you get it though.

Do some training with a legitimate sensei first

I don't know. I have some fairly powerful skills. I feel I can step it up more than that.

I still think I have fantastic technique. MAybe not the same as the typical Samurai, but skill nonetheless.
