Although Melanie Safka did write this song it is actually being performed by Lisa Angelle. Melanie wrote this for the television series Beauty and the Beast and the male voice you hear is Ron Perlman who played the role of Vincent.

I was looking for this song long time ago. i really, really love this song, whenever i heard this song i almost cry because this song is a reflection of our love story... my husband and i met in a cruise ship and he gave me a copy of this song and the rest is history.....thank you so much for this music video... god bless

Yes,the singer is Lisa Angelle,Melanie wrote the lyrics of this beautiful song based on the show music theme,it earns an Emmy on it's day.And good news for fans: "Of Love and Hope" was recently released on cd.Yeah I have mine. Still Chilling after all these years,well written stories about impossible love have an endless appeal.

I used to have this recording from the "Beauty and the Beast" series (the ultimate romance!) and regret I gave it away because it was a cassette. Thank you do much for posting it here - my favorite poem, and such a beautiful song, and Ron Perlman is an exquisite reader. e.e. cummings wrote the poem, for those of you who aren't familiar with it. and no, that isn't Melanie singing it, Brise 2009, is Lisa Angelle.
