@Absproduction13 The 7th string isn't used on this solo. Per writes a lot of his solos on his 6 string Ibanez Jem so you will find a lot of them do not require a 7 string to play.

i got the sweeping part down, i just need to clean it up a bit, tapping part is the hardest me, does anybody got any legit tips for the tapping and a good way to practice tapping?

@yourgay1234567891234 Instead of tapping directly down on the fret, and then ascending your fingers, flick the string just a bit for the note to be heard more after you hammer on. It helps me atleast. Hope it helps you

The amazing thing is that you're playing these solos on a six string when Scar Symmetry clearly use 7 string guitars! You must've taken at least about 10 tries to get it this perfect (I'm assuming???)

(generally speaking because of neck width) Per records all his solos with a 6 string jem. And as for him having to do this 10 times before getting it perfect.. i would say more like 3 MAX because he is at a very high playing level and these sweeps are actually not that difficult.

@amosschorr93 Trivium isn't very innovative? Well back when Ascendancy came out they basically made Metalcore a popular genre, sounds innovative to me. Now they blend thrash metal influence with metalcore and deathcore (see Shattering the Skies Above). This isn't 100% "innovative" but it's more than 90% of the bands out there. Also, Scar Symmetry IS better but Trivium is still a great band and they're only getting better. With their new album and Heafy's improved screams, they're just going up.

not all Trivium sounds like Metallica, and yes they do not play very similar styles but the level of talent is still pretty high for both. SS's new vocal setup isn't too promising so i'm gonna stick with they're badass older shit. and as for Trivium, after listening to they're new song "Shattering The Skies Above", i'm looking forward to the new album.

I dont understand why Trivium is on a SS video but okay. I just want to say I listen to both bands and I love both bands, They are not nearly the same style and never will be. I think Trivium is very creative and talented, I see how they rehashed some Metallica stuff in their early albums but the last two have been original, I love Shogun personally. SS however leans somewhat toward ProgMetal which I love and is always original and highly skilled. but sells less because people just dont get it
