I actually have this CD. I know all the words and sing along to all the songs. Truly an awesome album. This is from a time when rock required true musicianship, not just strumming a few chords and screaming.
"All he does is sit in his room and listen to his TAPES!" LMFAO! I'm still constantly buying CDs for all the tapes I had in the 80's. This song takes me back.
I got off work and went to Buffalo wild wings tonight as I usually do,.. and some guy from celebrity fit club was there and named nelson.. I realize now how big his dad was with music. I never realized he would be in Round Lake Beach Illinois drinking with some friends. I don't remember them much though and I loved the 80s.
what a song - remember first time i heard this i was about 10 on a radio station called Atlantic 252 it was the only radio station that played this in the uk and ireland and trying to find the song to buy was impossible at the time - top tune :)
An they just keep getting better! Still singing, still touring after all these years. Still inspiring. This song got me through my teen years. Love Me Today is getting me through the death of my Grandfather.
Even today, it's still great music with a great message. I will always love Nelson!
I got made fun of for liking Nelson in 1992. They called me gay, because hey, I liked glam metal as opposed to crappy-ass grunge music or rap. Look about 15 years into the future at music we have now. Who's the gay one now? Ha. :P
You can get the last laugh, because I gaurantee you that most of the women in their mid to late 20s and 30s today would much rather you put this stuff on in the car than rap or grunge.
I agree with you this music is awesome my taste in music (Nelson, Alice Cooper, and Kiss) has disgusted some people who have a lame taste in music (Jonas brothers, Hannah Montana, and Flo rida). I was not alive at the time our interests in music were big but i am proud that i love this music
I am so glad I still have the Original CD in mint condition of this album because to this day I still enjoy these songs , and I was able to actually meet the two brothers after their concert at the orange county fair one year that my youngest sister had also came along with me too - she of course was in love with Gunnar , or Matthew , or the other way around but I told her "they are both here in front of you " and they noticed her cheeks turn red !
I still have the cassette. I still love their music! It's sad that many people don't like their songs and say bad comments about them. It's great that you met them!
Great band. Nice to hear even after all these years. Even better than I remember. Reminds me of Cheap Trick in a good way. Has a similar sound but rocks it up a notch.
remember long epic videos like this back when they still played music on MTV instead of gay ass teenybopper shit like "The Hills"????
I hate the shit of today that passes for music.
I remember Nelson fans got made fun of cuz compared to Motley Crue and Dokken it was kinda weak but compared to today's shit Nelson is like the Beatles or Rolling Stones.
I used to hate on Nelson back in the day, but damn, these guys have talent. I can't say how refreshing it is to hear these songs again, especially after hearing what passes for "music" today. Long live the 80's and early 90's.
Wow... I had completely forgotten how good this song is. MUCH better than "Love And Affection" as far as the message the lyrics are conveying. This video is an A+ too compared to the garbage I see today. If it wasn't for 80s and 90s music, this world would suck lol. :)
1:27 "You take the blue pill -- the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in wonderland. And I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes"
another great song from the early '90s vault.. this song was CONTINUALLY playing in my walkman when I went cycling! Love Nelson! Wonder if they are still singing..?
Not to sound emo but this song gets me through alot of shit that happens to me. A lot of 80's songs do that, like most of the songs by Candy, and unlike this screamo bullshit that just makes people angry about killing people and crap. It's sensless. But this is ONE KICK ASS SONG
may 1991 I got hit by a semi and this song continued to pay while i waited for the ambulance!Thank You for my gift! Of LIfe! X O X O X O ... Jen from Saskatchewan, Canada
Did Ricky Nelson give Gunnar and Matthew an indian and peyote when they were young? What is going on with this video. That poor kid walks into the purple-lighted secret crap show starring Nelson.
I think this song came out in the late eighties. I never admitted I liked this song to my friends. They were all into Black Sabbath , ACDC, Judus Priest.
A good band that had the escense of the 80's , then they were some of the witness of the brand rock of the 90's with groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam just to mention some. Groups have to evolve or die, too.
well then if Nelson is so ''gay'' then what the fuck are you doing watching this video asshole? Are you like one of those people who enjoy spoiling someone's day when you can't decide on what to do for a hobby beside sit on your mama's computer for 10 hours talking trash? It's the obvious if you're trashing talking Nelson on a Nelson video instead of doing it somewhere else. go play with yourself if you cant find a hobby.
Wow you really love Nelson huh? Sorry bro, didnt mean to interupt your wet dream. Do have Nelson tattoos as well? Do you regularly pleasure yourself to their picture?
You can't even compare Nelson to the Jonas Brothers because the records from both parties sound way different. Yeah I bet u'd get drunk and go in and masturbate to the poster over and over. That Indian in the video shouldv chopped off all three of their heads then kill more white people.
Nelson rocks!!!!!! My friend "Grit" was a close friend of the boys and turned me on to their music. They gave one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Very talented band, full of energy.
I imagine it is. But it's not so overwhelmingly constant that it becomes a stereotype. And besides that, rappers all sound the same, have the same lyrics, and act the same way. Sure, a lot of rock sounds exactly alike, and there are a lot of ripoff bands. But rock is much more diverse, and there's a wide variety of personalities. Hip hop is all the same. Enough... with the negative comments and the back and forth riff raff! If you can't say something nice, it's best not to say it at all. Do not give power the negative types, it only empowers them. Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you and love thy neighbor...
ok, everybody STOP!!! why does everybody on youtube have to try to prove how big they think they are by dissing everybody adn everything? you dont like this music, fine. go watch another video. just dont ruin it for the rest of us. do you think we all go and start "oh yeah dude lady gaga is such a f*cking sl*t she gets laid like every night by your f*cking dad" WOW GET A LIFE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! THE '80s ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!! id you dont like it you can kiss my white ass
little girls shouldn't be going around telling people to die, on the internet or anywhere else. you could get into big trouble with that kind of talk.
your punk chicken ass is on here calling people names and telling them to die over some stupid music video, and i need to learn respect? really? you might need to think that one through a little bit more, sweetheart.
defending it, huh? by telling people to die? that's nice. anyway, my original comment was NOT an insult, and it would take a stupid little twat like yourself to misconstrue it as such. it's people like you who make the youtube comment section the cesspool that it is.
lmfao..true..my aunt heather who was like..12-14? Or so at the time did though.....so yeah I love nelson but to be honest its kinda like me who had backstreet boys posters hanging over my bed.
No way! This video is fantastic: the Indian, the angry step dad, the neon green stage, it's all perfect!
They didn't kill off hair bands, the lack of a good musician did. Suddenly, it was cool to not know how to play your instruments:) Cobane is the best example I can think of, followed by talentless fux like Green day and Weezer. The good thing that came from Weezer was the buddy holly song, featuring Fonz...sort of???
So why can't people love Weezer and Nelson at the same time? I like nirvana but...I like nirvana in a way that I will listen to their music on the radio but not buy any of it.
Great Song! I miss this kind of music! The Nelson Twins are so talented! They never appeared to get the recognition that they deserved! I heard that they got their band back together and are actually touring again! I would love to see them!
They are still together minus the other three members. They also have 2 other bands they are in. The music is still great but they don't get enough recognition whats so ever!!
This was my very first concert and it was fantastic. They only had a few really great songs but they put on a great show and were really hot and left a lasting impression.

I just don't understand the 80's. I'm 25 and I know I briefly grabbed the end of it but I just don't see the purpose and the point. The 40's, 50's, 60's and even yes the 70's I get, but not the 80's. The lyrics for this song is an awesome poem, but the song sucks.
If your trying to define the 80's with Nelson then you are sadly mistaken. This came out in 1990 and they did not last long. The 80's was decadent era that had many facets of music, metal, glam metal, jazz fusion, new wave, hard rock, pop.
The 80's were a era of decadent rock, roll, sex and drugs....It was all acceptable and to be emulated.....and those of us that could do...DID!!! Great memories of my life.......which that I could be there again ,,,,,no responsibilites, no full time job, no looking to the future other than tomorrow,
I am proud to be the product of the decade of decadence, but all good things come to and end.....that is just one aspect of life that will probably within our life time never be again
sounds like my dad

Enough... with the negative comments and the back and forth riff raff! If you can't say something nice, it's best not to say it at all. Do not give power the negative types, it only empowers them. Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you and love thy neighbor...

excuse me?
shoofirbin 2 years ago
Yes, excuse you!!
maj1986 2 years ago
little girls shouldn't be going around telling people to die, on the internet or anywhere else. you could get into big trouble with that kind of talk.
shoofirbin 2 years ago
You should learn to respect people
CHOAD.
maj1986 2 years ago
your punk chicken ass is on here calling people names and telling them to die over some stupid music video, and i need to learn respect? really? you might need to think that one through a little bit more, sweetheart.
shoofirbin 2 years ago
Exactly I was defending the video which was not posted for yer insults.
maj1986 2 years ago
defending it, huh? by telling people to die? that's nice. anyway, my original comment was NOT an insult, and it would take a stupid little twat like yourself to misconstrue it as such. it's people like you who make the youtube comment section the cesspool that it is.

You sed something CUZ it takes a lot to get me to talk smack.

shut your goddamn trap and go back to your brain-rotting nickelodeon shows and disney movies, ok?
shoofirbin 2 years ago
I'm surprised you are still on this.
Yes, I love Nickeldoeon
maj1986 2 years ago
love it, but can't spell it, apparently.
nickelodeon sucks my left nut. those shows are brainless sit-com knock-offs that appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Ur a loser ass who is stuck on fighting with a 15 yr old about nonsense
maj1986 2 years ago
so you're 15, and you're watching those shows that are targeted at 9-year-olds. what does that say about you?
shoofirbin 2 years ago
that I'm awesome and cool

lmfao..true..my aunt heather who was like..12-14? Or so at the time did though.....so yeah I love nelson but to be honest its kinda like me who had backstreet boys posters hanging over my bed.

I've never heard this extended this version of this, and I heard this song hundreds of times. Nice!
The 80's were fun. The 90's were fun. The naughties are fun. Just gotta keep your ears open.

Damn! I haven't seen this video in years! What a flashback! Great Great Song! Thanks!
cosb71 2 years ago 2
The good thing that came from Weezer was the buddy holly song, featuring Fonz...sort of???
speaks66 2 years ago 3
So why can't people love Weezer and Nelson at the same time? I like nirvana but...I like nirvana in a way that I will listen to their music on the radio but not buy any of it.
shynsweetlilme 2 years ago
Great song, but the video is truly worthy of "25 Lame".

love this shit. Their lyrics were so beautiful.

Great Song! I miss this kind of music! The Nelson Twins are so talented! They never appeared to get the recognition that they deserved! I heard that they got their band back together and are actually touring again! I would love to see them!
ASilvey69 2 years ago 3
well said silvey. i miss great music like this too.i loved nelson.
firefly54220 2 years ago
They are still together minus the other three members. They also have 2 other bands they are in. The music is still great but they don't get enough recognition whats so ever!!
angietrv 2 years ago
This was my very first concert and it was fantastic. They only had a few really great songs but they put on a great show and were really hot and left a lasting impression.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I just don't understand the 80's. I'm 25 and I know I briefly grabbed the end of it but I just don't see the purpose and the point. The 40's, 50's, 60's and even yes the 70's I get, but not the 80's. The lyrics for this song is an awesome poem, but the song sucks.
gertnerbot 2 years ago
If your trying to define the 80's with Nelson then you are sadly mistaken. This came out in 1990 and they did not last long. The 80's was decadent era that had many facets of music, metal, glam metal, jazz fusion, new wave, hard rock, pop.
scottsway 2 years ago
Very well stated. I concur.
ram16821 2 years ago 2
The 80's were a era of decadent rock, roll, sex and drugs....It was all acceptable and to be emulated.....and those of us that could do...DID!!! Great memories of my life.......which that I could be there again ,,,,,no responsibilites, no full time job, no looking to the future other than tomorrow,
jjjjtrucks 2 years ago
Well said my 80s friend
80sKatt 2 years ago 2
I am proud to be the product of the decade of decadence, but all good things come to and end.....that is just one aspect of life that will probably within our life time never be again
