I've broken w/ & w/o spacers. People who say it's easy w/them & that it's no big deal r simply wrong. It is harder w/out, but either way, you have to hit w/everything you've got. I've done stacks w/spacers and had the bottom brick not break, which shows it isn't just a matter of breaking no. 1, which breaks no. 2, and so on. And frankly, I don't mind when they don't all break - the audience can see how hard I hit 'em. Leaving one unbroken just shows how hard it is. Nice job Bignickolson!
It is quite simple. If there are spacers, then you deform the first brick enough for it to break by imparting enough force and excerting enough work on it. Then you continue and do the same to the next and so on downwards. Each brick will decelerate your fist and you must continnue to push it through. Eventually you may loose momentum and your fist will stop.
Without spacers you need to deform the entire stack at the same time. That requires n times the force of one brick for n bricks to start
i use a different concrete that is way harder and cures in like 7 days. i work at a concrete factory so i make my bricks harder. than these. i'll post them soon.
in shows like that they order old bricks from old houses and stuff. I know that cus my karate trainer says so and he did this befor but he didn't like doing it. becaus he thought it wasn't real karate (sorry for crappy english :P)
Actually, this proves that they had spacers (pennies or quarters) or the bottom one would break first. With spacers = top breaks first, no spacers = bottom breaks first. Nice hard hit though! And if he lowered the supporting bricks he would have more speed and broke them all.
How the chocolate fudge didn't the bottom one break?! Just from the weight of the bricks and the cumulative force from above, it should have snapped clean in half...
you gotta follow through man, otherwise you're gonna be in pain and nokidding, the same force to put into breaking the brick will come right back at you.
Great job, and also keeping your poise and being able to make a little joke about it. I know how frustrating it is to do breaks like that and have all but ONE stinkin' brick break.
then that means u didnt get em all

@joetaicoon Actually it's more complicated than that. Long story short, it's about n squared times the force needed to break one brick.

yea it realy isnt that hard

Just goes to show, that this guy is amazing. He had no spaces between the bricks at all. This is so deep penetrated with force.

It isn't so much fun when you fail to break a stack though.
When you succeed, it's awesome. Failing... it just sucks.

When you hear people say that the bricks break each other, it isn't true. Just as he just demonstrated ^.^
YOU have to break all the bricks, they almost never break each other.
