  • This is awesome! This should've been used in all of the MGM cartoons instead of the scary logos with Coffee and Tanner.

  • Why they didn't use this in animated shorts in those days I'll never know...

  • the animation is just... amazing

  • the lion, the logo and the animation.

  • Cool, but the growling is sorta funny, burp?

  • This makes it less scary for me.

  • Wow - They should bring this back!

  • Now, this is really cool.

  • they shoulda used that for tom and jerry

  • I think this would've been far more suitable than Tanner in front of the cartoons of the 40s, wonder why they shelved it after only one cartoon.

  • Wow! Pretty cool animated lion!

  • wow better than the real lion!

  • Actually, it IS a real lion. They took footage of the real MGM lion and used a process called "rotoscoping" to draw from the actual images of the lion frame-by-frame. Max Fleischer invented that process back before the 1920's, and his studio used it heavily in the film "Gulliver's Travels." Max Fleischer owned the patent for the process; however, people got around it all the time, such as in this case.

  • It is also the technique they used for the Phillip K Dick's A Scanner Darkly if I am correct here
