I have one of these; got it two Christmases ago, no less. Still holds up just as well as the day I got it with my 5g ipod video. The side-firing bass speakers have good kick, too! Uncertain if all the other ipod docks from Altec have as good a performance as this one, but this model is indeed well worth it

how loud do the speakers go on batteries and how long do the hold it on batteries? and last one. when the batteries go low does the quality of the sound get wors?
