Let me just say that being raised in western Samoa..I did get a taste of beatings from my elders but certainly not abused. There is a fine line between disciplining and abuse and this woman took it too far. Yes it looks quite brutal but I think the key here lies in the four words spoken by one of the youngsters "I learnt my lesson". Here, they get 'real life consequences' the 'Samaon way'. The current system is simply ineffective yet here is a program that shows RESULTS! If she gave up on one of these young men & they ended up killing someone (or affecting someone in some terrible way), what would you say to that affected person? "Oh well, at least she was stopped"?

Truth is, if these kids get locked up, they get the same treatment in jail, prison and youth homes. The difference here, is that they teach values and morals. Whether you want to see it that way or not, its the truth. I don't like it, but that's why you won't see me acting out. 'cause ill get that at home. I'm not mad about it, because it taught me to value important things a lot more.

"e ke ula?" - I find that this beating is fitting. However, I don't agree with the gang-up beating, I do agree with the Samoan way. Palagi's always trying to have the last say and thinking they are doing the right thing. All you have to do is look at the gangster wars, the street riots...you call that remorse and respect from the youth?
