  • i cant get any gundam makers which sucks because i like sd gundams

  • can we use pen knife

  • :) Just ordered two models both 1/144 HG Zaku II anf Gouf Custom with snippers and liners.

  • where did you buy those things if ebay what seller?

  • i use my exact knife to get exacse off too.

  • @5lomar excess*

  • There are no emery papers there.

    It is very regrettable.

A Japanese modeler uses a lot of sandpapers.

  • are the large tipped gundam markers permanent

  • gundam markers sux or maybe im not good at usin it because it comes out too thick evry time..

  • purchased a Freedom from amazon im so excited i cant wait till i get it

  • i am going to do my first SD gundam BB#316 can't wait !!!!!!! ^_^

  • Is the 00 hg-22 gundam model hard to build

  • @Ts1fangjoker got this model a week ago farly easy to build the only thing i dont like about it is that the swords, they don't stand straight they like to lean from the handles

  • @Ts1fangjoker pffft, nah, But odnt try MG 00 Raiser Until you have a good amount of experience, this is from personal experience.

  • @Rampardos206 in my case when i was a beginner, i started from FG RX 78 Gundam and Gundam Virtue. then went to BB Senshi SD Gundams, the Sangokuden, and finally the High Grades. Unicorn, RX 78-2, ZZ, Zeta, 00 Seven Sword G, Wing Zero Custom, and Finally the Susanowo. Once i Became an intermediate modeler, i started to get MGs and i started from small boxes to large. first one was Wing Gundam EW, RX-2 Ver 2.0, Rick Dias and finally the massive Hi nu.

  • @masterkent1 I remember starting off with the HG 1/144 Gundam Wing kits because they were the only ones I could find in America. I then built a couple random SEED kits. Finally, I went to HGUC/HGAW. Recently, I built a MG F91. It turned out really well in spite of a broken part.

  • How can i take care of the plastic cutter. Where i come from a pair of cutters are quite expensive. i want them to last longer.

    thx

  • where can i buy a set of gundam markers?

  • is it ok to use gundam markers to paint my gundam? the air brush and the mini air compressor here is expensive.

  • @RAGNAtelegirl13

full-on painting with the markers usually give an uneven look.

  • Instead of the gundam markers would sharpies work?

  • @IRagnarokV probably too thick

  • @Skipper242424 ultra fine tipped sharpies work sometimes but there not the best

  • I spent 20$ on some crappy Gundam markers, When I got them on eBay it had the colors I needed, I get them and, 1, I thought they were gonna be extremely thin, and they were think, so that's my fault, and 2, well the colors were pretty useless. I am disappoint.

  • is it a tamiya side cutter

  • How much does the box of gundam markers cost?

  • thanks for the guide, but i myself got the basic tamiya tool kit set to build my gundam unicorn, it works nicely XD, and i don't need to clean much of rough surfaces

  • @Robant100 where did you buy one of those tamiya tool kit?

  • @MegaErvin18 amazon

  • hey can you still buy gundam pens?

  • There shouldnt come a new gundam anytime soon japan melthdown tsunami earthquake..

  • The prob is, gundam markers are expensive in malaysia

  • For me I think every lazy modeler should have a topcoat. Why? It's basically painting to even out the surface and give it a nice finish to pretend like you painted it with colors even though you didn't. Ultimate lazy modeler must.

  • i started modeling im 2010 but i just got a youtube and you relly helped me with modeling

  • how you use the marker??corret ways and i wanna see the marker without the marker cover

  • I'm not the best sander. Is there a certin trick to it? I'm trying to get back into it and I'm not really sure how to do it without sanding more than what needs to be sanded.

  • Its good to know that you don't have to have the fancy set up to enjoy building Gundam.

  • do the dolls come already painted or can some be airbrushed? I noticed the bigger dolls are more complex looking.

  • i use nail clippers lol i might get a nippers then lol even though i used nail clippers all the time and then use something sharp to cut off the extra stuff

  • I definitely feel that this video covers all the basics. Nice.

  • Are there any sites/stores where you could recommend a set of plastic nippers and a model knife? I just bought my first gundam in nearly a decade and I don't want to mess anything up. >.<

  • how do you color a beam saber?

  • @BusoRockin1000 use clear paint like the clear red arcrilyic paint or the clear sprays

  • @hatetotem thanks

  • can i replace gold with yellow?

  • would real touch markers cover up the old colour, say i have a dark blue, and i wanted it white...

  • can i use sharpie rather than gundam marker? its hard to find

  • Where can I buy gundam markers?

  • u could use any eraser?...and what kinda markers are they?

  • i cant believed that theres actually clippers for 3$ i bought mine for 30$ D: and they were the only one that the store had

  • Comment removed

  • my tools scissors and gundam panel liner (thinging) LOL

  • wow tnx a lot for this help in painting gundam :D

    im grateful really i am.

ussually it was so hard 4 me coz i had to remove all the parts then i spray paint them

but this is a greater way! tnx 4 showing me how with youre help i painted 00 raiser RED! yeah thats right RED! tnx thank you God bless :D

  • I just started collecting models and don't have any of the markers/pens. Would a sharpie fine point be bad to use??

  • Comment removed

  • @RD6x6x nope it fine to use sharpie and some tips if you fail you can use a eraser and erase it i looks nice

  • @RD6x6x thats what i used before i bought gundam markers, and listen the markers will never be as good as gundam markers cus they sometime dont stick on plastic

  • i really hate this theres no gundam marker in our place even shipping is no! great!!(T_T)

  • @rockzone16 same here

  • nice mouth guards!= =

  • well thats what i have seen japanese modelers do. Cut with those pliers except they sand the part afterward and then they air brush paint it.

  • ive been doing gundam since seed

  • im getting a 1 60 gundam strike pg and a 1 60 exia what should i buy?

  • for the sangokuden models would the sangokuden marker set be best for coloring itor the ones with the black on the end

  • Nice advice:)

  • When I was a kid i used to collect/make SD models, I pretty much just rotated the pieces in the plates until they snapped off or tore them out and then shaved off the excess plastic.... I've recently got back into Gundam and plan on buying some models, so I'm wondering if thats the wrong way to do it?

  • you got my catalogue!! give it back!! oh, i found mine.)

  • Hey rrobbert got a question about panel lining when I put the ink on from my Gundam Marker and try to get the excess ink off all it does is just smudges all the excess ink everywhere and then my model looks all grey with the ink on it so, what's the best way to get all the ink off without all of it going everywhere

  • can you also do the panel lining while the parts are still on the runners?

    nice guide ^.^

  • What kind of paint would you use for colouring clear parts on 00 series models? I used to paint warhammer models, do you think the gamesworkshop paints would work fine?

  • I punch out the piecis and then use my razor blade it has a holder and a sheath and I can shave off plastic.

  • I kinda found a better way now

  • I need help rob

  • Plz help me!!!! I don't have clippers and I'm trying to make my MG the best

  • I have my MG blue frame revise coming and I punch out my piecies

  • U need to help me

  • is there any other thing you can use for the snippers?

  • hey what can i use as a substitute for gundam markers ? Sharpies... ? not sure lol but i really dont want to screw up one of my nicer gundams which need some touch ups with the markers. Let me know cuz i cant find gundam markers anywhere where i live. I checked alot of places believe me lol.

  • i completely agree, this is the method i use, i have never been able to do the sandpaper, i always wreck or scuff the plastic.

  • i used to just trim the excess with a modlers knife but i ended up carving it.now i use sandpaper

  • get a gundam kit... it has mostly everything! it even has a part separator so when u click the pieces in place, u can easily take it off with out a chance of breaking it

    it cost me $22 AUD

  • can you tell me what specific plastic nippers you use? Im not pro, but I want to buy good tools.

    thanks.

  • The Xuron Micro shear 410 IS THE BEST. About $10 on the internetz.

  • where do u get the gundam markers?bc i use sharpie..i know im a noob )':

  • lolz i got all that XD

  • is pliers are good for cutting off the plastic

  • thats esactly what i do. witht he trimming and the using the nippers and xacto knives.

  • lol, i sand down each piece TWICE! It takes me days just to put one together. Dont even ask about painting.

  • I just found my local hobby store and its right next to my school i go there everyday and jus look around tomorrow am getting a couple bottles of tamiya paint and a modelers knife

  • modelers knife from hobby store cost a fortune.. go to a school supply store AND you can get a better and reasonable price..

  • just used nail clippers because it has the nail thingy that smoothsthings and they clicp stuff

  • looks like a cool hobby and shit but, it gets expensive and may look a lil embarassin i guess lol friends would be like..."toys are you seriouse?" and laugh lol

  • ummm.....this may be a stupid question, but do you do panel lining before or after you build the model?

  • i line each piece before putting them together. it stops the ink from running.

  • oh ok!! thnx agen for you help!! oh and one more question: how long do you have to wait before the ink dries? because like you, even though i just started my collection, am pretty lazy when it comes to details. i like to do it, but not if it takes too long.

  • it dries fairly quickly, so no problems there.

  • you kept stressing the lazy modeler part. lolz

would painting you're kit a liiiiiittle make you eligible to being a pro-modeler? hehehe

  • ahhhh!!! okk!!! thnx a lot for you help!!

  • what's the difference between real touch markers and regular gundam markers?

  • I own a no-grade 1/100 strike freedom gundam. How does it differ from the High Grades and Master Grades?

  • Hey do you know where I can buy a cheap sharp modeler knife (like yours) and the nippers. The tweezers you have seem so different from mine. Where can I buy all of this for a good decent deal (in The United States)?

  • Thanks for this video!

I'm just getting into Gundam kits so this is very helpful for a start and I'll work my way up to full painted kits someday!

  • Hey rrobbert you know how some kits come with extra parts that aren't in the construction manual,(usually in the manual they're marked with "X"s ? What do you do with those parts? I got a whole bunch of them in the full armor zz gundam, they seem to be parts for normal zz, but i have no idea how to use them

  • I use a pair of big scissors, gundam markers, cotton swab, and a pencil eraser to do the trick, but nail clippers are also good specially is a certain part is too damn thick and cannot be handled by the scissors... =]

  • i use my swissarmy knife the blades are 10 times as sharp as your EZ Knife manly cuz i sharpin it once a week

  • well arent you the shit

  • I'm thinking of buying myself an HG Exia R2, but barely even have the money for the model itself, so I can't afford a pair of nippers. Can I use scissors or are they too bad?

  • Nail clippers work better the scissors

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for advice.

  • @waynekun

    thats TOTALLY true!!!

  • @waynekun : agree, i use the flat type not the curve type...

  • dont use scissors, ull break the pieces

  • i use nippers, toothpicks, cotton swabs, markers (and an eraser for the lining markers too)

but i dont have a hobby knife so i jst use a small box cutter (very low tech but it works for most of it) and instead of tweezers for prying out stickers and such i hv a small box of push pins (i also use the pins to pry out som parts of i forget a part in it so if i have to take it apart for lining/coloring/etc)

  • LOL all I use are nippers and paint

  • my nipper is bandai

  • nice vid, anyways, can u feature the clear blue paints fr the clear parts in 00 models??? pls??? xD

  • i use either sharpies or kurecolor markers for clear pieces (ie the season2 00 weapon scopes or GN pieces)

try look for em at the school supplies section of a shop

  • I use these kind of tools and my friends think i'm a pro,, lol

  • can u give a demo please.

  • Bravo!

  • Thanks rrobert184

  • i just have a swiss army knife cos it has a tooth pick on it, a blade and a pair of snipers

  • Oh My God! You're just like me! xD

  • how the fuck do you sharpen a gundam panel line marker?

  • You just cut the tip in a certain angle and it becomes more sharper.

  • I don't get why you need nippers... a knife could easily cut through the tree.

  • yeah, and you can eat a bowl of chowder with a fork, but that's not the right tool for the task. Nippers make removing parts from the tree so easy, and without the risk of damaging the part.

  • that may be, but to me it's just a waste of money. Why buy nippers at around $10 when it serves only one function. And of course you'll need a hobby knife which serves multiple function. So why buy both when you only need one and the other just does same thing. It's like letter openers, why buy one when you can just rip the letter? Your fingers don't cost anything, you have more control, you don't have to get up and find your fingers.

  • That's the point, you don't want to rip the letter, you want to open the envelope without papercuts, damaging the letter, etc. Same as cutting a part out with a knife instead of the appropriate tool... Following your philosophy, we'll still be like monkeys, using a rock to open a nut, instead of a nutcracker. Anyway, the point is, the right tool for the right job ;) Save the 10 bucks and risk loosing a part (or your finger). Cheers ;)

  • if you use the knife on the tree to snap off pieces it will put to much stress on the knife and the plastic. the nippers allow you to make better and smoother cuts.

  • thats what i said till i stabed myself in the finger

  • should've cut away from yourself

  • meh small parts beg to differ, it's just easier to nip them then clean them

  • Comment removed

  • spot on i'd say. that is exactly the same materials i use. (i'm a lazy modeller btw) but i like how they turn out ^_^

  • An eraser for cleaning up lines eh? I'll try that sometime. Thanks for the tip!

  • *lols @ Gundam Markers*

But other then that. Good tutorial mate, should get some newbies going :)

  • To anyone in living in America, got to Home Depot and go to the section with all the wirecutters, they have some really nice nippers for like $14.

  • 20 bucks ISN'T worth it.

20 bucks is the price of a whole HG 1/144 kit!

  • I just need better nippers

  • the only gundam markers I have are for weathering effects, otherwise I just use some basic fine point sharpies, they work it most cases

  • I read an article on dannychoo about a no paint gundam method.

the article was originally from hobby japan magazine.

and I did some experiment on my own.

all you need is some water sand paper. any grid from 600 to 1000 will do.

once u sand the piece, u will notice the "plastic-ish" shine on the surface disappear. it will result a satin-dull surface. it is not bad lookin consider the amount of work put in. it is perfect for lazy ppl like me who want it to look good and save $. lol

  • Ha, I use the same things, guess I'm a lazy molder too.

  • I'm one of those that just watch the reviews xD

thx for all your videos dude =)

  • I never thought about the toothpick and quetip. Thanks!

  • last time i used my hobby knife i cut my finger while gettin rid of the extra plastic off my rx-78. now im just sanding it off.

  • I did the same thing on my rx-78

  • haha realy one axident and you stoped useing it

ive kut to the bone more than once wraped some tichu around it taped it and kept on cuting

    ;P

  • i liked gundam markers until i saw 2 old 4 toys way of panel lineing

  • haha I'm a lazy modeller too.....the only paint I have is Mr Hobby white cause the white gundam marker sucks....

  • I do the same with the modeler knife ,so don't feel bad.

  • I swear I can never get my gundam markers to work the way some you utubers do. Mines always

    run

  • can u show us how to sharpen the old panel lining markers?

  • does a normal eraser able to erase away excess ink during panel lining?

  • they should

  • yea...

  • Finaly =D
