@Ts1fangjoker got this model a week ago farly easy to build the only thing i dont like about it is that the swords, they don't stand straight they like to lean from the handles
@Rampardos206 in my case when i was a beginner, i started from FG RX 78 Gundam and Gundam Virtue. then went to BB Senshi SD Gundams, the Sangokuden, and finally the High Grades. Unicorn, RX 78-2, ZZ, Zeta, 00 Seven Sword G, Wing Zero Custom, and Finally the Susanowo. Once i Became an intermediate modeler, i started to get MGs and i started from small boxes to large. first one was Wing Gundam EW, RX-2 Ver 2.0, Rick Dias and finally the massive Hi nu.
@masterkent1 I remember starting off with the HG 1/144 Gundam Wing kits because they were the only ones I could find in America. I then built a couple random SEED kits. Finally, I went to HGUC/HGAW. Recently, I built a MG F91. It turned out really well in spite of a broken part.
I spent 20$ on some crappy Gundam markers, When I got them on eBay it had the colors I needed, I get them and, 1, I thought they were gonna be extremely thin, and they were think, so that's my fault, and 2, well the colors were pretty useless. I am disappoint.
thanks for the guide, but i myself got the basic tamiya tool kit set to build my gundam unicorn, it works nicely XD, and i don't need to clean much of rough surfaces
For me I think every lazy modeler should have a topcoat. Why? It's basically painting to even out the surface and give it a nice finish to pretend like you painted it with colors even though you didn't. Ultimate lazy modeler must.
I'm not the best sander. Is there a certin trick to it? I'm trying to get back into it and I'm not really sure how to do it without sanding more than what needs to be sanded.
i use nail clippers lol i might get a nippers then lol even though i used nail clippers all the time and then use something sharp to cut off the extra stuff
Are there any sites/stores where you could recommend a set of plastic nippers and a model knife? I just bought my first gundam in nearly a decade and I don't want to mess anything up. >.<
were do you get gundam models? ones that look like that small one in the video. just started my intrest in gundam found it trough the markers XD i wanna make sum :D
@RD6x6x thats what i used before i bought gundam markers, and listen the markers will never be as good as gundam markers cus they sometime dont stick on plastic
When I was a kid i used to collect/make SD models, I pretty much just rotated the pieces in the plates until they snapped off or tore them out and then shaved off the excess plastic.... I've recently got back into Gundam and plan on buying some models, so I'm wondering if thats the wrong way to do it?
Hey rrobbert got a question about panel lining when I put the ink on from my Gundam Marker and try to get the excess ink off all it does is just smudges all the excess ink everywhere and then my model looks all grey with the ink on it so, what's the best way to get all the ink off without all of it going everywhere
What kind of paint would you use for colouring clear parts on 00 series models? I used to paint warhammer models, do you think the gamesworkshop paints would work fine?
hey what can i use as a substitute for gundam markers ? Sharpies... ? not sure lol but i really dont want to screw up one of my nicer gundams which need some touch ups with the markers. Let me know cuz i cant find gundam markers anywhere where i live. I checked alot of places believe me lol.
get a gundam kit... it has mostly everything! it even has a part separator so when u click the pieces in place, u can easily take it off with out a chance of breaking it
I just found my local hobby store and its right next to my school i go there everyday and jus look around tomorrow am getting a couple bottles of tamiya paint and a modelers knife
looks like a cool hobby and shit but, it gets expensive and may look a lil embarassin i guess lol friends would be like..."toys are you seriouse?" and laugh lol
oh ok!! thnx agen for you help!! oh and one more question: how long do you have to wait before the ink dries? because like you, even though i just started my collection, am pretty lazy when it comes to details. i like to do it, but not if it takes too long.
Hey do you know where I can buy a cheap sharp modeler knife (like yours) and the nippers. The tweezers you have seem so different from mine. Where can I buy all of this for a good decent deal (in The United States)?
Hey rrobbert you know how some kits come with extra parts that aren't in the construction manual,(usually in the manual they're marked with "X"s ? What do you do with those parts? I got a whole bunch of them in the full armor zz gundam, they seem to be parts for normal zz, but i have no idea how to use them
I use a pair of big scissors, gundam markers, cotton swab, and a pencil eraser to do the trick, but nail clippers are also good specially is a certain part is too damn thick and cannot be handled by the scissors... =]
I'm thinking of buying myself an HG Exia R2, but barely even have the money for the model itself, so I can't afford a pair of nippers. Can I use scissors or are they too bad?
i use nippers, toothpicks, cotton swabs, markers (and an eraser for the lining markers too)
but i dont have a hobby knife so i jst use a small box cutter (very low tech but it works for most of it) and instead of tweezers for prying out stickers and such i hv a small box of push pins (i also use the pins to pry out som parts of i forget a part in it so if i have to take it apart for lining/coloring/etc)
yeah, and you can eat a bowl of chowder with a fork, but that's not the right tool for the task. Nippers make removing parts from the tree so easy, and without the risk of damaging the part.
that may be, but to me it's just a waste of money. Why buy nippers at around $10 when it serves only one function. And of course you'll need a hobby knife which serves multiple function. So why buy both when you only need one and the other just does same thing. It's like letter openers, why buy one when you can just rip the letter? Your fingers don't cost anything, you have more control, you don't have to get up and find your fingers.
That's the point, you don't want to rip the letter, you want to open the envelope without papercuts, damaging the letter, etc. Same as cutting a part out with a knife instead of the appropriate tool... Following your philosophy, we'll still be like monkeys, using a rock to open a nut, instead of a nutcracker. Anyway, the point is, the right tool for the right job ;) Save the 10 bucks and risk loosing a part (or your finger). Cheers ;)
if you use the knife on the tree to snap off pieces it will put to much stress on the knife and the plastic. the nippers allow you to make better and smoother cuts.
