He doesn't look stoned at all. Poor guy is either basically brain dead (from years of drug and alcohol) or is mentally ill. Very sad. Hey, we're all just a hair's breath away from homelessness. What comes around, goes around, people, be careful what you say.
its sad these people live this way. but some are happier than living like us. they hold up signs for work but ive never had one to offer to work for their money. they want it free. i saw a guy up there the other day using a wheel chair and claiming to be a vietnam veteran. then he would get up and push his wheel chair to the next section to sit in it and hold up a sign begging for food. they work in shifts up there taking turns and then go buy booze. cigarettes and dope with the money. its sad
good interview. He keeps a clean house and he is proud of what he has. The underlying circumstances of his situation are not known, however. I hope he is okay.
oh so sad....NOT.....if this lazy bastard would put as much effort into finding a job as he did building that shack, he'd not be homeless...but hey, who am I to judge?
Why would he want a job? So he can watch the government rape his paycheck so the illegal aliens who shit out kids can get paid? He is actually a very smart man and not getting bent over by the good 'ol government.
Oh yeah that easy? Must be why thousands of companies are going out of business and millions of Americans losing their jobs and becoming homeless because they can no longer afford their house or apartment. Your also right who are you to judge when your a fat old redneck pot head who still thinks he is hip doing child like shit in front of the camera and living in a shit hole. Wake the fuck up man and take in what is happening right now in America and all over the world.
Your right! Who are you to judge? Some people don't know about different resources and may not have skills like other people. Why don't you offer him a place to stay and a job since you are concerned .
If he ever wants to get a job, I heard that either the Salvation Army or Goodwill (or both) will hire anyone, even those with criminal records. Or, he may want to try a construction site.
I see him from time to time. He lost his shelter/home that is featured in this video. You can often find him standing near SE 44 and S. I-35 panhandling. His biggest problem (besides a lengthy criminal record) is his drug and alcohol addiction.
Oh how sad. Which drug does he choose to use? I sure hope he can live at the homeless shelter for the winter and doesn't freeze outside. I take it he has no family that wants to take him in...did his mother wash her hands of him or something?
From what I remember he doesn't like the shelters because they have rules and he's not much of a rules guy. I believe he told me he hasn't had contact with family in years and doesn't want to. He will most likely die on the streets or commit a serious crime and die in prison.
This is a nice video and keep up your work for helping the poor by making their views reach the selfish public.I am really impressed by all your work "catching the Johnes who are making these street looks bad, and interviews of prostitutes that reflect the cruelity of those pimps who slipped these innocents girls into this dirty buisness". All your work is a great lesson for the young generation inorder to live prestigious and healthy life. You are great!
Are you happy? Are you glad you've got footage of this poor man on tape for the sole purpose of gaining views? I was very supportive of your cause until I saw this. You're obviously exposing the life of this less fortunate man for your own benefit. I think that's wrong. I hope the best for that man, and I'm sickened by your intentions.
You really don't have a clue do you? He asked to do an interview and in exchange I bought him over $100 in food and supplies. He didn't want cash becasue he would spend it on liquor. Do you throw the same stones at the news, movie producers or even authors? You need to grow up kiddo.
How do you know what his intentions were? did you ask him? I have yet to see ONE video where everyone agrees or disagrees on the contents. I believe he shot this video in hopes that it would let folks know where WE could be,and if we had more love & kindness in our hearts (and quit being so quick to judge), less people would have to live this way. This video makes me wish i had plenty of money to go out & find folks like this & do my part to help them out. Think about it.
i have complete respect for this man. though he doesn't have the luxury like others have, he has built a roof over his head and seems to have managed for what he has left.
But you know, you can't help someone who won't help themselves. Give him money and he will buy booze. This is a very very long process of recovery and recovery isn't always one hundred percent.
Homelessness is a very real, very sad issue. If you go to singeroflove here on youtube you'll see my homeless video "I Found God Today" Or you may be able to see it in the video response section of this page. There are people and even families that are homeless; many of them due to no fault of their own. My heart and prayers go out to the homeless. I encourage you to support your local Salvation Army, simply because I know that they do help the homeless.
You know...most American families are just one paycheck away from being homeless. I knew someone whose kid had medical problems & they couldn't get health insurance for her-all their money went to saving her life. One day, he got hurt at work & there was no money. Boom, they were homeless (but luckily they had family to turn to). These people weren't one drugs or alcohol & they worked, but life wasn't very fair to them. I know some choose this life, but get the full story before you judge.
this is why education is CRUCIAL to our society. I hope G-d protects this man regardless of his stupid decisions. It, no doubt, is his parents fault. "If you don't teach your son a trade, you are teaching him to steal."
Not my problem. A LARGE majority of these homeless people ended up on the streets because of substance abuse problems. We are not the ones who made them put that pipe in their mouth OR that needle in their arm. Everyone with half a brain is given a choice which way they want to go in life. If they choose this life..then its on them.
not all of them are on crack.some of them are just like you or i and they get laid off, crippled in an accident and then its fend for yourself time.some just fall through the cracks.not all of them deserve it.
We should always be there to give them a hand no matter how many mistakes we think they've made. We all make mistakes..sure theirs are different from ours, but why should we ever feel like we're any better? It is our problem...those people need us and we should be like family to them.
Why should they be viewed any different? We all have problems. Sure, to you, theirs may be a lot different from what you have going on, but we can't point fingers at them and be so quick to judge. Everyone has different upbringings. Who knows what you would have been like if you were born in his shoes? We should be there for them hands and knees to help them any chance we get. There is just a huge lack of love and community in this world. People are desperate for both.
here in buffalo a guy built a home under ground on some wooded area and lives in there with a wood burner and homemade toilet, with the taxes I pay IM ready to join him.
You wana help???? Tell the loser to go get a job like the rest of the world. These dumb arses bring it on themselves. Poor Poor me boo fricken hoo. Get a job deadbeat and shut your mouth.
thats cruel and inhumain.... some of these people are unable to get job because of disabilities and such. And ur probably sitting in you comfy home without a care in the world and u want to make a spectical of these less fortunate people. You should be ashamed
If our government is so loving and compassionate, why won't they spend billions of dollars to fight the war on poverty here in the U.S. instead of this phony war in Iraq?
Nobody forced that disgusting bum to put a bottle in his hands or not pay attention in school. Stop feeling sad for people who MAKE POOR CHOICES! Bleeding heart liberals..
Are you familiar with the term, 'frictional unemployment?' How about 'structural unemployment?' You know, sometimes people can't help the fact that they are unemployed.
Exactly! We are all responsible for ourselves. Bleeding hearts will only tax and spend and drag down the economy to give losers like this guy shit he never earned.
Nobody is arguing that many people who are in bad situations in life may have made a few bad choices. However, we all deserve a chance to rectify our situation. If we have to work our way back into the workforce scrubbing toilets, so be it. But unfortunately, if you've been homeless and your clothes are dirty and torn, and you maybe lost a tooth or two, who's going to hire that person? It's not like you can pay to fix these things! When you hit the bottom, it's so hard to dig yourself back out.
what can we do to help him, I admire his ability to survive, and people should realise that this isn't a bad person he has just had some bad breaks. Look at his tent/shack everything was neat and tidy he just needs a break.
he needs to do what we all do and work and pay bills and sweat and bleed and pain and headaches and frustration, hey wait a second, he's better off the way he is, leave em alone
He is actually smarter then most Americans, You people pay your mortgage all your life and he just built himself a shack for free and doesnt have to pay JACK SHIT
Well, if you can manage to build yourself a hovel and bathe yourself, you should probably be able to get yourself a job, too. Unless you've got other drug or alcohol related problems, or mental problems. I guess there just has to be people out there to compare yourself to.
I agree that people should work, but on the other hand I just wanted to put out there that it isn't always drugs and alcohol preventing them from working. There are many learning disabled people on the streets, who do not have the capability to even learn to read. How do you complete an application without telling an employer you can't read and you need help. Even though they aren't supposed to discriminate they do
That's bullcrap! We have homeless shelters, but some choose not to obey the simple rules. And no, society is not to blame. You think so many are poor in America, that guy would be considered middle class in most countries. People lose their jobs, homes, families, and fortunes. But in America, there's always opportunity to get those things back because we're free.
My heart goes out to him and all the other homeless people in the world. Thank you for sharing such a great video, I love to hear these people's thoughts and feelings on life.
who's property is he living on? i wouldn't mind homesteading some land out in the country like that.

I lost my job of 7 yrs and have been homeless since March of last year.
Its been some having getting use to.
But I'm learning to adjust.
I enjoy the freedom of not being tied down to a 9 to 5 job,not having bills ,debts or rent to worrie about monthly.
Spending most of my time and my pay check.
Supporting them Frackers.
While I live from pay check to pay check.
Glad not to have that no more.
I still work when I can.
But my cost of living is alot more affordable
